BLM Utah has youth funding available to work with qualified youth conservation corps for the purposes of introducing youth and young adults to careers in the BLM and assist in fulfilling our mission. BLM is interested in working with youth and young adults to complete conservation projects that enhance the students classroom learning by providing them opportunities to gain experience, learn about public lands, further their understanding and appreciation of natural and cultural resources, and pique their interest in natural resource careers. Young men and women who participate in the rehabilitation and restoration of our nationÿfds natural, cultural, historic, archaeological, recreational, comprehensive environmental field studies and service programs that advance ecological literacy, conservation, and environmental research in the areas of public land restoration, forestry, range, trail work and scenic treasures will gain an increased appreciation and understanding of our public lands and of the value of public service, and are likely to become life-long advocates for those values.

The objective is to offer funding opportunities for qualified youth conservation corps to engage youth ages 16-30 in work on BLM conservation-related projects. BLM has had a successful youth program over the past several years and we would like to continue with new funding opportunities and project. These projects will provide participants with a mix of work experience, education, training, and support services, as well as the opportunity to develop citizenship values and skills through service to their community and the United States. As the young men and women gain experience in natural and cultural resource management, they will also develop an appreciation for public lands and learn about conservation-related career fields.

The Society welcomes applications on a biannual basis (closing dates 1st June and 1st December) for the Student Grant Scheme. The Scheme offers small grants, normally not exceeding £300 (approximately US $450), to current students, and is principally aimed at supporting fieldwork and other research costs. Undergraduate and masters-level postgraduate students are the intended focus of the Scheme, but PhD students will be eligible if the research is completed within one year. The Scheme is intended to promote an academic interest in herpetology through short, well-defined research projects with clear aims and demonstrable applications to our understanding of herpetology, and/or to herpetofauna conservation. Projects which benefit species of conservation concern are likely to be favoured.

This grant is open globally to any student, professional, or amateur and should focus on those interested in research and conservation on terns and gulls. Financial and education status of applicants are not considerations. Selection is made by a committee based on the applicant's likelihood of publishing timely and substantial contributions to the literature and/or making a contribution to the conservation of waterbirds. Depending on the scientific merit of the competition, awards will be offered in most years - one or more awards in the $1,000 range will be given.

The International Herpetological Symposium (IHS) has established a grant program to provide financial assistance to individuals or organizations conducting herpetological research, conservation, and education. Grants are available annually in amounts up to $1000 and will be awarded to applicants whose projects represent a significant contribution to herpetology in one of the areas listed below: Herpetological Natural History: Proposals in this category should address new field research in areas such as population ecology, behavior, and life history strategies of amphibians or reptiles. Herpetological Conservation Biology: Proposals in this category should address new research on threatened, imperiled, or a surrogate for such amphibian or reptile species, or the phenomena that affect the maintenance, decline, and restoration of their natural habitat. Captive Propagation: Proposals in this category should address research in captive behavioral studies or new techniques in captive maintenance and breeding of amphibians or reptiles. Herpetological Education: Proposals in this category should address starting and/or maintaining an educational program pertaining to amphibians or reptiles at a facility available to the public, such as a zoological park, school, or community center.

Selected recipients have a demonstrated interest and the capacity to work cooperatively with the USFWS to develop and administer projects focused on providing employment, educational, and public-service opportunities for U.S. citizens, legal residents, and veterans between 18 and 35 years. Projects are developed based on needs identified by USFWS offices at the national, regional and local levels that will lead to the development of project scopes of work in consultation with the youth-serving organizations selected as program partners under Notice of Funding Opportunity F16AS00108. Funds under this award are to be used to place a Digital Media Ranger Intern and an Urban Wildlife Conservation Program Intern at FWS Headquarters, NWRS Visitor Services. An Urban Wildlife Conservation Program Intern (Intern) will be physically located at FWS Headquarters (40 hours per week for 52 weeks). The Intern will provide research assistance and gather recommendations on potential and existing partnerships. The Intern will travel to one or two urban wildlife refuges to work alongside field staff and partners directly connecting with communities. The Intern will provide technical assistance on websites, webinars and other media. A Digital Media Ranger (DMR Intern) Intern will be physically located at FWS headquarters (40 hours per week for 52 weeks. The DMR Intern will plan, create and deliver social media and youth engagement campaigns on multiple platforms; coordinate with other digital media rangers on collecting, cataloging the media produced on our over 560 wildlife refuges, and the DMR Intern will participate in migrating media to a new digital asset management system. The DMR Intern will travel to one or more national wildlife refuges to work alongside other digital media rangers, or assist with projects.

The Stephen R. Tully Memorial Grant is given to support research, and conservation of raptors especially to students and amateurs with limited access to alternative funding.

Student research award The J. Larry Landers Student Research Award is a Gopher Tortoise Council competitive grant program for undergraduate and graduate college students. Proposals can address research concerning gopher tortoise biology or any other relevant aspect of upland habitat conservation and management.

This program will provide professional training, through the use of internships, mentoring, environmental education, and interpretive educational opportunities in order for young people to learn conservation and land management processes and policies as they relate to natural resources management of public lands. Furthermore, this program will achieve a variety resource management projects on public lands managed by the BLM¿s Eastern States Field Offices. Routine workload may include provision of outreach and interpretive services, visitor service patrol, facility maintenance, trail work, exotic species control or any other action supporting the implementation of BLMs approved plans.

This project will increase the BLMÿfds ability to monitor project outcomes, provide outreach for NCL units, and perform needed research, outreach, and other work related to NCL units and surrounding public lands. In addition, this project will provide undergraduate and graduate students with the opportunity to learn about resource management and public lands in western Colorado, and help increase the BLMÿfds ability to reach diverse and underrepresented student interns.

The Fellowship Program generally awards two new PhD Fellowships each year to students who are interested in careers related to the development and implementation of quantitative methods for assessing the economics of the conservation and management of living marine resources. Fellows will work on thesis problems of public interest and relevance to NMFS under the guidance of NMFS mentors at participating NMFS Science Centers or Offices. The NMFS-Sea Grant Fellowship in Marine Resource Economics meets NOAA's Healthy Oceans goal of "Marine fisheries, habitats, biodiversity sustained with healthy and productive ecosystems". The expected annual award per Fellow will be $43,500 (federal plus matching funds), of which half ($21,750) is expected to be provided by NOAA Fisheries, and the other half is expected to be provided by Sea Grant federal funds and required associated matching funds.

The Vanishing Treasures (VT) Program proposes to partner with the University of Pennsylvaniaâ¿¿s Department of Historic Preservation to develop internship opportunities for students interested in enhancing their knowledge and experience in: the craft of preservation as applied to traditionally-built historic structures; technical approaches to resource preservation (related to preservation engineering, historical architecture, and architectural conservation); and the pedagogy of historic preservation theory and practice. All interns will complete a special project in the areas of preservation craft, preservation technology or pedagogy of preservation in order to fulfill internship requirements.

Duties are mainly assisting with field data collection and related data management for the Networksâ¿¿ vegetation and water quality monitoring programs. Other duties may include assisting with early detection of invasive plants, and with monitoring air quality, freshwater mussels and cave resources.

BWF's Career Awards at the Scientific Interface provide $500,000 to bridge advanced postdoctoral training and the first three years of faculty service. These awards are intended to foster the early career development of researchers who have transitioned or are transitioning from undergraduate and/or graduate work in the physical/mathematical/computational sciences or engineering into postdoctoral work in the biological sciences, and who are dedicated to pursuing a career in academic research. These awards are open to U.S. and Canadian citizens or permanent residents as well as to U.S. temporary residents.

The interagency Joint Fire Science Program (JFSP) intends to request proposals through one or more formal Funding Opportunity Notice (FON) announcements beginning approximately October 1, 2013 and remaining open through November 22, 2013. The intent of this notice is to provide an early alert to investigators interested in the topics listed below so that investigators can begin considering responsive ideas with potential partners and collaborators.

Allowed are costs for doctoral candidates to participate in scientific meetings, to conduct research in specialized facilities or field settings, and to expand an existing body of dissertation research.

The Western Section of The Wildlife Society (TWS-WS) has historically supported conferences and symposia and studies through grants. Board members review all funding requests and make selections based on the following criteria: Applicant must be a member of TWS-WS; Consistency with TWS purposes and objectives as cited in the Western Section By-Laws; Timeliness and relevance: Local, regional, or national level; Proposals must demonstrate a clear need for funding and should define a time-line for project implementation, endorsement, and/or financial support of local TWS Chapter; Demonstration of shared costs; a detailed budget showing amount and use of TWS-WS grant is required; Quality and brevity of submitted request; Availability of funds and amount of funding requested; Ability of the applicant to successfully implement the proposed project; and Conference or symposium organizers receiving grant funding must submit a schedule of proposed sessions. The Section will award grants up to a maximum of $1,000 (depending on availability of funds) for a single project or event. There is no grant award minimum. Matching funds and partnerships are not required. Any partners providing funds or in-kind services must be listed in the proposal with a letter of commitment from each.

MASNA is a non-profit organization composed of marine aquarium societies and individual hobbyists from North America and abroad, totaling several thousand individuals. MASNA operates from a central Board of Directors elected each year by the delegates from the member societies at the Marine Aquarium Conference of North America, (MACNA). This year there are two scholarships available: one scholarship for a college undergraduate student and one scholarship for a college graduate student.

Research Scholarship The American Academy of Underwater Sciences awards two research scholarships to graduate students engaged in, or planning to begin, a research project in which diving is or will be used as a principal research tool or study scientific diving. The Kevin Gurr Scholarship awards $3,000 to a Master program student, and the Kathy Johnston Scholarship awards $3,000 to a Ph.D. candidate. The AAUS may also award two additional $1500 scholarships to the next two proposals that are ranked the highest. If the additional scholarships are awarded, they may be split between the Master program and the Ph.D. program, or they may be both awarded within a single program. Kevin Flanagan Student  Travel Award The Kevin Flanagan Student Travel Award provides up to $800 to undergraduate and/or graduate students interested in diving science to attend AAUS scientific meetings. The award is competitive merit-based. As many as three students may be funded annually. The Kevin Flanagan award was established in collaboration with Kevin's family as a legacy to his commitment to AAUS and scientific diving. Kevin served as AAUS board member (2009-2011) and diving safety officer at the University of Hawaii and East Carolina University prior to his death in May 2012. Our goal is to develop this as the first endowed award of the AAUS Foundation, permanently funded through interest earned on the raised capital.
