The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the Embassy of the United States of America in South Africa invites interested non-profit organizations, public international organizations, and private, public, or state institutions of higher education in South Africa and the United States to submit abstracts for Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation projects in accordance with the specifications outlined in the full program description, which is attached to this notice (click on the "Related Documents" tab). The Department of State established the Ambassador's Fund for Cultural preservation (AFCP) at the request of the Congress in Conference Report 106-1005 accompanying H.R. 4942 (October 26, 2000). The projects recommended for funding under this program shall advance U.S. foreign policy goals and demonstrate American leadership in the preservation and protection of cultural heritage in support of prosperity and stability around the world.

The U.S. Embassy in Chisinau has supported numerous projects for several years to address domestic and gender-based violence. For example, local nongovernmental organizations received grants from INL to provide training for police officers, prosecutors, and judges on processing criminal cases and better assisting victims. The U.S. Embassy also organized public outreach campaigns to raise awareness about domestic and gender-based violence. To support further progress in Moldova, the U.S. Department of State has allocated $800,000 USD in FY 2017 Rule of Law Funds for a project to establish a Family Justice Center in Moldova. A Family Justice Center (FJC) is a non-residential specialized facility which co-locates inter-disciplinary services in one location for survivors of violence, trauma, and abuse. The United States Department of Justice has recognized Family Justice Centers as a best practice in meeting the needs of domestic violence and sexual assault victims. Congress recognized the importance of the Family Justice Center model by creating a "purpose area" for Family Justice Centers in the Violence against Women Act in 2005. Family Justice Centers now exist in 40 states in the U.S. and in more than 20 countries around the world. The Government of Moldova expressed interest in further cooperation on the development of a pilot Family Justice Center in Moldova.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association is a member-led organization dedicated to the well-being and lifelong success of college athletes. Through its research unit, the organization conducts national research for its members on a wide variety of topics, including academic performance, student-athlete well-being, the finances of intercollegiate athletics programs, gender-equity and diversity issues, and many others.

The mission of the Milstein Medical Asian American Partnership Foundation is to improve world health by developing mutually beneficial partnerships between the United States and China, as well as greater Asia. To that end, the foundation is inviting applications from mainland China scholars and investigators for its Fellowship Award in Translational Medicine. The aim of the program is to build enduring partnership between the U.S. and Asia through the training of future Chinese academic leaders and to encourage long-term collaborations between the two regions.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to leverage SAMHSA funding (including TI-18-016, TI-18-015, and TI 17-014) for tribal responses to the opioid crisis by supporting culturally relevant research built upon projects supported by SAMHSA. The topic of the research project will vary depending on how funding is used in tribal communities. Potential topics include, for example, studies of evidence-based interventions adapted to enhance their feasibility, acceptability, availability and/or effectiveness in tribal communities; assessing the effectiveness of interventions with an evidence base from another population when implemented to address the opioid crisis in tribal communities; augmenting hypothesis-based data collection to inform intervention adaptation and implementation; or epidemiologic studies that assess the reach or implementation of interventions. Research supported through this FOA will be performed in two phases. The first phase (R61) will provide support for up to two years and allow for development and start up of the project including, where relevant, development and pilot testing of study elements including measurements, the study design, and/or adaption of intervention. This phase will identify and meet pre-specified milestones ensuring that the results of this phase inform and provide a foundation for the second phase of the research. Phase two (R33) is dependent upon successful completion of the R61 phase and an approved plan for the R33 phase. Phase two will provide possible funding for three years to expand to a full test of the research aims.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The over-arching goal of this NIH Blueprint R25 program is to encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups underrepresented in the biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research workforce, to pursue further studies or careers in research.

Grants of up to $125,000 for up to eighteen months will be awarded to projects that directly improve or, in the case of research-oriented projects, develop data, facts, or conclusions that further the understanding of improving access to legal education for students from diverse backgrounds; increasing the affordability and financing options for students pursuing legal education; and enhancing the value and relevance of legal education.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites applications to enhance the pool of of highly trained investigators from diverse backgrounds underrepresented in research. It is targeted toward individuals whose basic, clinical, and translational research interests are grounded in the advanced methods and experimental approaches needed to solve problems related to cardiovascular, pulmonary, and hematologic diseases and sleep disorders in the general and health disparities populations. This FOA invites applications from Institutions with eligible faculty members to undertake special study and supervised research under a mentor who is an accomplished investigator in the research area proposed and has experience in developing independent investigators. This FOA is designed specifically for applicants proposing research that does not involve leading an independent clinical trial, a clinical trial feasibility study, or an ancillary study to a clinical trial. Applicants to this FOA are permitted to propose research experience in a clinical trial led by a mentor or co-mentor. Applicants proposing a clinical trial or an ancillary study to an ongoing clinical trial as lead investigator, should apply to the companion FOA (see RFA-HL-19-025).

Community colleges are a vital component of the higher education ecosystem and of the academic humanities in particular. Mellon/ACLS Community College Faculty Fellowships are tailored to the circumstances of humanities and social science faculty who teach at two-year institutions and are intended to support their research ambitions. ACLS invites applications for the inaugural competition of the program this fall. These fellowships are made possible by the generous support of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

The United States Department of State, Embassy in Brasília - Brazil, announces a notification of funding opportunity (NOFO) to support the development and implementation of a program to support the participation of American artists at cultural festivals and other special events in Sao Paulo's consular district with up to US$40,000 in FY2018 for a project period not to exceed two years. The preliminary start date for this activity is October 15, 2018, and one award is anticipated as a result of this NOFO. However, should both parties consider the results of this exchange to be positive - and also subject to availability of funds - we may agree to renew this NOFO for up to two additional years. We are seeking proposals for the development and implementation of a program to support the participation of American artists at cultural festivals and other special events in Sao Paulo's consular district, which comprises the states of Sao Paulo, Parana, Mato Grosso do Sul. By ensuring American representation at cultural events and artistic performances, the program contributes to engage local audiences in understanding U.S. values, as well as to and generate and expand connections between American and Brazilian institutions and individuals.

Archaeological resources belong to all Americans and provide the history and context of our society. A primary goal of the BLM cultural resource program is to work in the public's interest so that archaeological knowledge may be shared and learned. The objective of this agreement is to share an appreciation for American history and culture, through a variety of strategies, such as through social media platforms, in order to increase public awareness, knowledge and support for historic preservation, stewardship, and interpretation of the nation's cultural and historical heritage. The Mesa Verde Escarpment is located on Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) lands and is immediately adjacent to the iconic Mesa Verde National Park and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site. Limited past fieldwork in this region has revealed highly significant sites that are critical to understanding the prehistoric Ancestral Puebloan lifeways across the Mesa Verde cultural landscape. The Mesa Verde Escarpment has a rich archaeological record spanning over 10,000 years and possesses the densest concentration of Ancestral Puebloan habitation sites on public lands, and retains areas of traditional and scared values to over 27 Native American tribes found in the region today. The temporal span and distribution of sites indicate the area was consistently inhabited from Basketmaker III period through Pueblo III (A.D. 600-1,300). More specifically, the Tres Rios Field Office (TRFO) seeks a partner for the purpose of developing and implementing cultural resource projects to amplify public education and outreach efforts, with a specific emphasis on the Mesa Verde Escarpment region.

The U.S. Embassy Vientiane Public Diplomacy Section announces an open competition for organizations to submit project proposals for funding under the U.S. Embassy's 2018 Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program. This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) solicits proposals for projects that further the U.S. Mission's public diplomacy goals of strengthening people-to-people ties between Laos and the United States, expanding educational opportunities for Lao people to better engage with the United States and ASEAN, and building and strengthening local partners through the specific objectives listed below. An individual may submit only one application for FY 2020 funding. You may not apply for both a Translation Project under this deadline (December 5, 2018) and a Literature Fellowship (in prose or poetry) under the 2019 deadline (when fellowships in prose are offered). The Arts Endowment's support of a project may begin any time between November 1, 2019, and November 1, 2020, and extend for up to two years. Grant Program Description Through fellowships to published translators, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) supports projects for the translation of specific works of prose, poetry, or drama from other languages into English. We encourage translations of writers and of work that are not well represented in English translation. All proposed projects must be for creative translations of literary material into English. The work to be translated should be of interest for its literary excellence and value. Priority will be given to projects that involve work that has not previously been translated into English.

This funding partnership between the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) supports projects to develop and advance knowledge concerning endangered human languages. Made urgent by the imminent death of roughly half of the approximately 7000 currently used languages, this effort aims to exploit advances in information technology to build computational infrastructure for endangered language research. The program supports projects that contribute to data management and archiving, and to the development of the next generation of researchers. Funding can support fieldwork and other activities relevant to the digital recording, documenting, and archiving of endangered languages, including the preparation of lexicons, grammars, text samples, and databases. Funding will be available in the form of one- to three-yearsenior researchgrants,fellowships from sixto twelve months, and conference proposals. Note: a conference proposal should generally be submitted at least a year in advance of the scheduled date of the conference. An initiative of the National Security Education Program, the Boren Awards provide funding for United States undergraduate and graduate students to study in regions of the world critical to U.S. interests, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Boren scholars and fellows represent a variety of academic backgrounds but are all interested in studying less commonly taught languages, including but not limited to Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Swahili.

The Embassy of the United States in London invites eligible organizations to submit proposals to develop and implement a 14- to 21-day group exchange program to the United States for up to 10 UK-based young leaders ages 18-5 to focus on efforts in the U .S. to counter hate crimes and build community resilience to conflict . With a strong focus on community and engagement with American interlocutors, UK participants will immerse themselves in U.S. society through discussions, dialogue groups, workshops, site visits, and professional appointments. Strictly subject to the availability of funds, the U.S. Embassy in London expects to select one program implementer for a grant award from $100,000 up to $125,000.

The Tribal Colleges and Universities Program (TCUP) provides awards to Tribal Colleges and Universities, Alaska Native-serving institutions, and Native Hawaiian-serving institutions to promote high quality science (including sociology, psychology, anthropology, economics, statistics, and other social and behavioral sciences as well as natural sciences), technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, research, and outreach. Support is available to TCUP-eligible institutions (see the Additional Eligibility subsection of Section IV of this solicitation) for transformative capacity-building projects through Instructional Capacity Excellence in TCUP Institutions (ICE-TI), Targeted STEM Infusion Projects (TSIP), TCU Enterprise Advancement Centers (TEA Centers), and Preparing for TCUP Implementation (Pre-TI). Collaborations that involve multiple institutions of higher education led by TCUP institutions are supported through Partnerships for Geoscience Education (PAGE) and Partnerships for Documentary Linguistics Education (PADLE). Finally, research studies that further the scholarly activity of individual faculty members are supported through Small Grants for Research (SGR) and Science Education Alliance Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science in Tribal Colleges and Universities (SEA-PHAGES in TCUs).
