The mission of the Milstein Medical Asian American Partnership Foundation is to improve world health by developing mutually beneficial partnerships between the United States and China, as well as greater Asia. To that end, the foundation is inviting applications from mainland China scholars and investigators for its Fellowship Award in Translational Medicine. The aim of the program is to build enduring partnership between the U.S. and Asia through the training of future Chinese academic leaders and to encourage long-term collaborations between the two regions.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) is accepting applications for the fiscal year (FY) 2018 Minority Fellowship Program (Short Title: MFP). The purpose of this program is to reduce behavioral health disparities and improve healthcare outcomes for racial and ethnic minority populations by: (1) increasing the knowledge of behavioral health professionals on issues related to treatment and recovery support for individuals who are from racial and ethnic minority populations and have a substance use disorder (SUD); (2) improving the quality of SUD treatment services delivered to racial and ethnic minority populations; and (3) increasing the number of culturally competent professionals in psychology focusing on services appropriate for those with SUDs, addiction psychiatry, and addiction medicine who teach, administer services, conduct research, and provide direct SUD services to racial and ethnic minority populations. The SUD treatment and recovery needs of racial and ethnic minority communities in the United States have been historically unmet due to the scarcity of practitioners equipped to address this population's needs. The MFP increases the number of behavioral health professionals with knowledge of issues related to treatment and recovery support for SUD among racial and ethnic minority populations. This program aims to specifically expand the training of professionals with a focus in psychology, addiction psychiatry, and addiction medicine.

he overall goal of this initiative is to enhance our understanding of fundamental biological mechanisms involved in disease conditions that disproportionately affect health disparity populations and develop therapies or interventions that can directly or demonstrably contribute to the reduction or elimination of health disparities. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) solicits applications to conduct: 1. Biological and genetic research to explore disease mechanisms or pathways that influence health outcomes in minority and health disparity populations. 2. Clinical and translational research linking basic science discovery with effective treatment or clinical practice to improve health outcomes in minority and health disparity populations. Projects investigating the etiology, physiology, genetic risk factors, molecular pathways, gene-environmental interactions, pharmacogenomic and personalized medicine in health disparity populations are particularly encouraged.

The Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program was established by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to increase the number of faculty from historically disadvantaged backgrounds who can achieve senior rank in academic medicine and dentistry and who will encourage the development of future physicians and dentists from similar backgrounds. The program defines the term "historically disadvantaged" to mean the challenges facing individuals because of their race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or similar factors. In 2018, the program will award up to ten four-year postdoctoral research. Recipients will receive an annual stipend of up to $75,000 each, complemented by a $30,000 annual grant toward support of research activities.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) solicits applications for Minority PDX (minority patient-derived xenografts) Development and Trial Centers (M-PDTCs). The M-PDTCs will join the PDTC Research Network (PDXNet) and be focused upon development and pre-clinical testing of models derived from racial/ethnic minority populations. The PDXNet is a National Cancer Institute (NCI) program established to coordinate collaborative, large-scale model development and pre-clinical testing of targeted therapeutic agents to advance the vision of cancer precision medicine.

Michigan State University Libraries invites applications for research grants for the summer of 2020. The grants are intended to help scholars who live more than 100 miles from East Lansing whose research would benefit from on-site access to the rich primary source collections housed in MSU Libraries' Special Collections. The 2020 grants are made possible through the generous support of Char Mollison and MSU Libraries Special Collections Endowment. Five grants of $3,000 will be awarded based on the overall promise of the research project and the significance of MSU's Special Collections to the work. The on-site research period must run for at least one week between May 1 and September 30 of the year awarded. Research strengths of MSU Special Collections are deep and varied, including an outstanding comic art collection; American radicalism on the extreme right and left; extensive holdings on Latino and Chicano activism and artists; popular culture; zines, Africana; exceptional rare book holdings in cookery, the history of science, veterinary medicine, Italian unification, conduct books; one of the country's oldest LGBTQ+ collections; a peerless collection documenting the contemporary men's movements; and the papers of numerous Michigan writers including Richard Ford, and Diane Wakoski. This is an invitation for collaborative proposals which focus on addressing the challenges Primary Care Providers experience in serving Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities during pandemic and/or emergency situations. Proposals should use one of the following approaches: Educational materials: Develop additional educational resources related to pandemic and/or emergency response for Primary Care Providers who serve adults with I/DD Implementation: Supports implementation of models, i.e. projects that support community-based PCPs in providing care to adults with I/DD during pandemic and/or emergency situations Research: Supports regional or national research related to Primary Care Providers who serve adults with I/DD role during pandemic and emergency situations A secondary goal of this RFP is to foster new partnerships or significantly enhance existing partnerships between disability organizations, advocates, community organizations, and healthcare providers. Grants of up to $50,000 (each) for a 1-year period will be awarded.
