The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to promote innovative research on music and health with an emphasis on developing music interventions aimed at understanding their mechanisms of action and clinical applications with little or no preliminary data. Because of the need for a multidisciplinary approach, collaborations among basic researchers, translational science researchers, music intervention experts, other clinical researchers, music health professionals, and technology development researchers are encouraged. The FOA utilizes a phased R61/R33 funding mechanism to support mechanistic research and to evaluate the clinical relevance of music interventions. The R61 phase will provide funding to either investigate the biological mechanisms or behavioral processes underlying music interventions in relevant animal models, healthy human subjects, and/or clinical populations, or can be used to develop innovative technology or approaches to enhance music intervention research. The second R33 phase will provide support for further mechanistic investigations, intervention development, or pilot clinical studies. The pilot clinical studies may focus on intervention optimization/refinement, feasibility, adherence, and/or identification of appropriate outcome measures to inform future clinical research. Transition from the R61 to the R33 phase of the award will depend on successful completion of pre-specified milestones established in the R61.

The Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas, Austin advances understanding of the humanities for a broad and diverse audience through the preservation and sharing of its extraordinary collections, providing unique insight into the creative process of writers and artists and deepening our understanding and appreciation of literature, photography, film, art, and the performing arts.

The Global Connections program, administered by Theatre Communications Group (TCG), is dedicated to building bridges between U.S. theatre professionals and their counterparts abroad, identifying theatre professionals who will further the growth of the field, and creating opportunities for the U.S. theatre field to engage in international conversations. Grants are provided to nonprofit organizations and individual artists through the following two initiatives: Global Connections: On the Road will award grants of up to $5,000 to foster new relationships with international colleagues that will inspire each other's work and aesthetics by creating opportunities for cultural exchange. Global Connections: In the Lab will award grants of $10,000 to further pre-existing international collaborations by supporting residencies that either advance the research and development of a theatre piece or explore elements leading up to a full production. OPERA America's Innovation Grants support the implementation of innovative projects in opera's most important areas of practice, including artistic vitality, audience experience, organizational effectiveness, and community connections. The program enables companies to increase their investment in experimentation and innovation and contribute to field-wide learning. Grants are intended to support projects that (a) represent  an effort new to the field; (b) adaptations or applications of strategies that have been implemented elsewhere but are new to the applicant company or its community; and (c) refinements or enhancements to proven organizational strategies that merit continued development. OPERA America will assist with evaluation and documentation and help disseminate lessons learned from the projects.

As part of this mission, the foundation is accepting applications from presenters, festivals, music service organizations and any other applicants that are not performing ensembles for general operating or special project support. In 2018, support will be given to projects that are initiated between September 2018 and August 2019. Under extraordinary circumstances, the foundation will consider projects that fall outside that period.

In 2017, the NEA hosted a one-day Documentary Sustainability Summit featuring filmmakers, producers, distributors, film festival representatives, funders, and other stakeholders to discuss the documentary filmmaking field. A State of the Field Report was subsequently published, which identified key issues and action items necessary to ensure the sustainability and future growth of the field.

Fellowships will be awarded to artists whose achievements have been recognized as demonstrating extraordinary promise in any area of artistic practice and teaching. Applicants should be early-career poets, novelists, choreographers, playwrights, designers, performers, directors, filmmakers, composers, and performance artists who would find it beneficial to spend two years teaching and working in an artistically vibrant university community.

The Levitt AMP Music Series was created in 2014 by the Levitt Foundation, a pioneer in the creative placemaking movement. Levitt AMP brings the joy of free, live music to people of all ages and backgrounds living in small to mid-sized towns and cities, transforming neglected public spaces into thriving community destinations.

The Concert may take place in any U.S. city with a thriving jazz community or other characteristics that are likely to draw a robust audience for the Concert. We are interested in receiving proposals for concerts in venues located in a wide range of U.S. cities, states, and territories, especially those in the middle region of the country. We are also interested in rotating the Concert to other U.S. cities in future years contingent upon what we hope will be subsequent Cooperative Agreements with the organization selected as a result of this Program Solicitation. The Concert must take place during the winter or spring of 2020, and possibly coincide with Jazz Appreciation Month in April 2020 as appropriate. Project activities may also take place in conjunction with other related events undertaken by the Cooperator during this timeframe, such as an established jazz festival.

To advance this mission, the fund is accepting applications for its annual Performance Program, which supports performing and presenting organizations whose artistic excellence encourages and improves public knowledge and appreciation of serious contemporary American music. New this year, the program will support the electronic dissemination of live performances, whether as a simultaneous transmission or via a recording of a live performance, by means such as broadcasting and streaming. Expenses such as recording and electronic distribution costs can be considered as eligible costs in a request for general operating or project support when included as part of a live performance. Standalone recording projects (e.g., an "album") are not eligible for support through this program.

The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) intends to publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) to solicit applications to develop music interventions aimed at understanding their mechanisms(s) of action, and clinical application. Transition from the R61 to the R33 will depend on successful completion of milestones established for the R61. This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects.

The National Institutes of Health, intends to publish three related Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOA) to promote ground-breaking research to better utilize music's ability to improve human health. This FOA will use the R21 mechanism, and support exploratory studies aimed at shedding new light on the effects þffofþff þffmusicþff þffonþff þffhealthy individualsþff,þff þffand/orþff its best usage in improving specific health conditions.þff A related FOA will use the R01 mechanism to encourage proposals of a larger scope. Applications proposing phased musical interventional studies are encouraged to read NOT-AT-18-015.þff This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects. þff þff This FOA is expected to be published in the fall of 2018 with an expected application due date in the winter of 2019. The U.S. Embassy to Zambia Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce that funding is available through its Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program. This is an Annual Program Statement, outlining our funding priorities, the strategic themes we focus on, and the procedures for submitting requests for funding. Please carefully follow all instructions below. Project Objectives: We invite proposals for projects that strengthen cultural ties between the U.S. and Zambia through cultural and exchange programming that highlights shared values and promotes bilateral cooperation. All programs must include an American cultural element, or connection with American expert/s, organization/s, or institution/s in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives. The U.S. Embassy is expecting two jazz performers, one bluegrass band, and a dance choreographer between July and December 2018. Proposals involving these visits will be prioritized.

The MAP Fund invests in artistic production as the critical foundation of imagining - and ultimately co-creating - a more equitable and vibrant society. MAP supports original live performance projects that embody a spirit of deep inquiry, particularly works created by artists who question, disrupt, complicate, and challenge inherited notions of social and cultural hierarchy across the United States. The program pursues its mission by annually welcoming applications for new live performance projects. Each year, MAP hires a different cohort of peer reviewers who recommend the projects they believe most align with MAP's goals through a rigorous, facilitated review process. MAP awards $1 million to up to 40 projects in the range of $10,000 - $45,000 per grant.

he Jubilation Foundation, a component fund of the Tides Foundation, helps individual and organizations with an exceptional talent for helping young people feel fully alive through rhythm, as expressed in music and dance. 1) Individuals Fellowships: Two-year fellowships of up to $5,000 will be awarded to those who "serve as a link to a world filled with more joy." Applicants must reside in the United States to be eligible. (Deadline: January 15, 2019) 2) Organizations: Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to nonprofit music and dance organizations in Washington and Oregon that work with children under 18 (the younger the better); involve experts working and playing with non-experts; work toward synchrony and inclusion; overcome barriers related to race and class, building community, link diverse groups, creating a ripple effect; and/or create foot stomping public performances in a party-like atmosphere. (Deadline: July 15, 2019) The foundation does not fund professional performances where students are the audience; programs for religious purposes; theatrical productions without a commitment to joyful rhythm and movement; programs that require auditions; and programs where mastery is the goal. Art lifts our spirits and expands our horizons. Because art plays a vital role in a healthy community, expressing the diversity within our common humanity, the First Tennessee Foundation is a long-time supporter. One of our signature investments is ArtsFirst, a program to promote excellence and enrichment in the arts in Memphis. This new approach allows us to leverage the grant-making expertise of ArtsMemphis while ensuring we continue to make a significant impact in the community. The Classics for Kids Foundation empowers young people to shape their futures through music, helps build sustainable stringed instrument music programs, and provides grants for the purchase of high-quality instruments. To that end, matching grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to schools or nonprofit organizations that incorporate fine instruments in their music programs. To be eligible, public or private schools and nonprofit organizations must demonstrate need and a commitment to raising matching funds. The New England Foundation for the Arts is accepting applications from performing arts presenters for its New England States Touring grant program. The program is designed to support presentations by New England-based performing artists outside a presenter's state. Grants are available in amounts of up to 50 percent of the artists' fees and typically range from $400 to $4,000. Requests below $400 will not be accepted. Artists' fees may include expenses associated with the creation of new work, travel, and per diem.

The Academy Grants program directly supports the overall mission of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences: to recognize and uphold excellence in the motion picture arts and sciences, inspire imagination, and connect the world through the medium of motion pictures. The program also supports the Academy's commitment to diversity in the industry. Diversity encompasses artists as well as audiences; the cultural and geographic communities to which they belong; their age, gender, race, ethnicity, disabilities, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, and gender identity. The Academy seeks to fund proven and rising institutions that open pathways for storytellers from a wide range of backgrounds, and especially those from underserved communities.
