Grant applications previously submitted to the Art Works category will now be submitted to the Grants for Arts Projects category. An organization may submit only one application under these FY2021 Grants for Arts Projects guidelines. If an organization applies to the Challenge America category, it may not also apply to the Grants for Arts Projects category. The Arts Endowment's support of a project may start on or after January 1, 2021. Generally, a period of performance of up to two years is allowed. An organization that applies to the Challenge America category, may not submit another application to the Grants for Arts Projects category. You may apply to other National Endowment for the Arts funding opportunities, including Our Town, in addition to Challenge America. In each case, the request must be for a distinctly different project or a distinctly different phase of the same project, with a different period of performance and costs. The Arts Endowment's support of a project may start on or after January 1, 2021. Grants awarded under these guidelines generally may cover a period of performance of up to two years. An organization that has received Challenge America grants in FY 2018, 2019, and 2020 may not apply for a Challenge America grant under these FY 2021 guidelines. That organization may apply for FY 2021 support under other National Endowment for the Arts funding opportunities including Grants for Arts Projects. Grant Program Description The Challenge America category offers support primarily to small and mid-sized organizations for projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations -- those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics, or disability. Age alone (e.g., youth, seniors) does not qualify a group as underserved; at least one of the underserved characteristics noted above also must be present. Provide details about the underserved audience you select in your application using relevant statistics and anecdotal information. Proposals should detail the efforts made to reach the identified underserved population. Grants are available for professional arts programming and for projects that emphasize the potential of the arts in community development

The Big Read, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts, aims to restore reading to the center of American culture. Managed by Arts Midwest, the program provides organizations with grants and comprehensive resources that support efforts to inspire their community to read and discuss a single book or the work of a poet. Community organizations participating in the Big Read develop and produce reading programs that encourage reading and participation by diverse local audiences. These programs include activities such as author readings, book discussions, art exhibits, lectures, film series, music or dance events, theatrical performances, panel discussions, and other events and activities related to the community's chosen book or poet. Activities must focus on a book or poet from the Big Read Library. Previous grantees must select a different reading choice from their previous programming. The program is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations to develop reading programs between September 1, 2018, and June 30, 2019. Organizations selected to participate receive a grant, educational and promotional materials, and access to online training resources and opportunities. Approximately seventy-five organizations will be selected from communities of varying size in the United States. Eligible organizations may apply for grants ranging between $5,000 and $15,000. Grants must be matched on a one-to-one basis with non-federal funds. Grant funds may be used for such expenses as book purchases, speaker fees and travel, salaries, advertising, and venue rental.

The Japan Foundation New York office (JFNY) accepts applications from non-profit organizations for projects that take place within the 37 states east of the Rocky Mountains, plus Washington D.C., listed below for the JFNY Grant for Arts & Culture on a rolling basis throughout the year. This grant aims to support projects that will further understanding of Japanese arts and culture. Successful projects are granted up to $5,000. This grant also supports online projects related to Arts & Cultural Exchange that incorporate issues pertaining to the COVID-19 global pandemic such as virtual exhibitions, virtual performances, film streaming, online conference as well as webinar. Priority will be given to those projects that have secured additional funding from sources other than the Japan Foundation.

The Building Bridges 2014-15 Grants Program will support nonprofit organizations in their work to plan and implement cultural programs or projects intended to increase public knowledge and understanding of current day Muslim societies through arts or media-based experiences. The program will support projects that create current-day, immersive, interactive, collaborative and/or engaging experiences tailored to the needs and interests of target audience(s).  A total of $1,500,000 will be awarded for projects and programs that begin in March 2015. Grants in the amounts of $25,000 to $300,000 will be awarded for projects and programs over one to three years, depending on the need of the project. Grants may support up to 75% of the total program or project budget. The total grant requested may not exceed 25% of the organization's annual expenses. Nonprofit organizations with operating expense budgets greater than $250,000 are eligible to apply.  Grantees will be selected through a competitive, panel review process. The application process will include three steps: an intent to apply electronic postcard to notify the foundation that you will submit a letter of interest (LOI); a letter of interest (LOI); and a full proposal from organizations selected by the LOI review panel. Applicants for the funds may be students or faculty. The project, program, or entrepreneurial idea must be created by, led by or benefit women. Grants are awarded in values of $2500 to $20,000. While we prefer the base grant to be $5,000, we are considering a limited number of $2500 which will be required to show high impact. These applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The grants must be submitted online via the link below and must include a 2-minute video. Applicants will be narrowed to a pool of 10-15 finalists by our M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN Grants Committee. This committee will review applications; contact applicants if additional information is required, and present the finalists to the M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN Steering Committee and Development Staff. Grant deadline for this year is Feb. 9, 2018. These finalists will perform in a fast-pitch style Hawk Tank event on April 11, 2018. Finalists will be offered fast-pitch training courtesy of the Farmers School of Business - school of Entrepreneurship, and will receive coaching and support. They will then pitch their idea in 5 minutes or less on April 11, 2018 at the event. Giving Circle members are the voters who will determine winners. Absentee voters will be given the option to vote online. Winners will be announced that night or the next day at the Symposium, to be determined.

The principal goal of The Shubert Foundation is to support not-for-profit, professional theatre and dance companies in the United States. The program areas of Arts Related Organizations and Education are smaller than those of Theatre and Dance and necessarily limited. The Shubert Foundation awards unrestricted grants for general operating support, rather than funding for specific projects. These grants are awarded exclusively to US organizations, which must have current 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in order to be eligible for funding. The Foundation provides grants only to organizations that have an established artistic and administrative track record, as well as a history of fiscal responsibility. The Foundation does not make grants to individuals, nor does it provide funds for project support, audience development, direct subsidy of reduced-price admissions, conduit organizations (agencies that disburse funds to individuals or other organizations), renovation projects, loans, capital or endowment campaigns.

New Music USA is supporting music in a new way. We want to create the shortest possible path between the people who make new music and the people who enjoy it. So we've reconfigured five of our past grant programs into a unified channel of support for a wide range of new music projects.* We believe in the artists we support, and we want everyone to hear their music. That's why we're building a new platform to help our funded artists promote themselves, and to help us promote all the projects we fund. Instead of filling out a grant application, you'll create a simple, private project page with all of your work samples and project information on this site. If your project is awarded, New Music USA will publish your project page. Once published, you'll be able to post updates as your project unfolds. The resulting collection of project activity will give site visitors an unmatched experience of the diversity and vitality of new music in the United States. This year, our project grants will award more than $600,000 to 100-150 projects, with awards ranging in size from $250 to $20,000. You can be sure that we always want to support as many great projects with as much money as we can.

AIIS fellowships are granted in 4 areas: Junior Research Fellowships Junior Research Fellowships are available to doctoral candidates at U.S. universities in all fields of study. These grants are specifically designed to enable doctoral candidates to pursue their dissertation research in India. Junior Research Fellows establish formal affiliation with Indian universities and Indian research supervisors. Awards are available for up to 11 months. Senior Research Fellowships Senior Research Fellowships are available to scholars with a PhD or its equivalent. These grants are designed to enable scholars who specialize in South Asia to pursue further research in India and to establish formal affiliation with an Indian institution. Short-term awards are available for up to four months. Long-term awards are available for six to nine months. A limited number of humanists will be granted fellowships paid in dollars funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Senior Scholarly/Professional Development Fellowships Senior Scholarly/Professional Development Fellowships are available both to established scholars who have not previously specialized in Indian studies and to established professionals who have not previously worked or studied in India. Senior Scholarly/Professional Development Fellows are formally affiliated with an Indian institution. Awards may be granted for periods of six to nine months. Senior Performing and Creative Arts Fellowships Senior Performing and Creative Arts Fellowships are available to accomplished practitioners of the performing arts of India and creative artists who demonstrate that study in India would enhance their skills, develop their capabilities to teach or perform in the U.S., enhance American involvement with India's artistic traditions or strengthen their links with peers in India. Awards will normally be for periods of up to four months, although proposals for periods of up to nine months can be considered.

The Foundation awards travel grants to individual scholars to support historical research on Venice and the former Venetian empire, and for the study of contemporary Venetian society and culture. Disciplines of the humanities and social sciences are eligible areas of study, including (but not limited to) archaeology, architecture, art, bibliography, economics, history, history of science, law, literature, music, political science, religion, and theater.One of the Venetian Research Program grants awarded will be designated as the Henry A. Millon Award in Art and Architectural History. Applicants and grantees are advised to plan for the added difficulties surrounding travel during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are restrictions on both international and domestic travel. Additionally, access to archives and other research institutions can be difficult to ascertain and continue to change. Grantees should consult the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control, World Health Organization and the Italian health authorities when planning their travel and research. To support scholars, the Foundation has lengthened the grant period to a two-year timeframe. Grantees will be able to adjust their travel plans and submit an updated itinerary. Each will be asked to confirm the accessibility of their research sites. Grant payments will be provided close to each scholar's research period. We hope that this added flexibility will allow scholars to stay safe while moving forward with their important work.

Applications may be submitted by publicly supported non-profit performing ensembles, presenters and music service organizations that have a history of substantial commitment to contemporary concert music at a high level of excellence. Organizations must have been in existence for at least two years. Performing ensembles, presenters, or organizations that are applying for support for performances must have presented two full seasons prior to the season for which support is requested, except for special projects of extraordinary significance. In that case, one must contact the Grants Manager for approval prior to beginning an application. Applications from organizations with a budget of over $10 million will be considered only for special project support. The Grants Manager should be contacted for approval prior to beginning an application. Please note that, in general, the grant program does not support jazz music.

These awards are distributed as NDP Presentation Grants  to U.S. nonprofit organizations presenting the works and are designated to support artist fees and travel. Touring Awards are automatically given to all NDP Production Grant recipients. Additionally, up to ten works created independently from the Production Grant process receive Touring Awards through a competitive application process each fall. 

The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) is pleased to offer a limited number of conference grants. These grants will be used to subsidize the cost of attendance for individuals to attend either CUR Dialogues 2015: Climbing the Ladder to Funding Success: Diverse Sources, Diverse Pathways or Undergraduate Research Programs: Building, Enhancing, Sustaining. Nominees are asked to provide contact and demographic information, a statement of expenses, a statement describing financial need, and a statement on expected outcomes from attending the conference. Historically under-represented groups and first-time attendees will be given priority. The review committee will work to ensure awardees represent a diverse subset of the applicants, specifically across discipline/CUR Division and geographic location. Awardees will receive the conference grant as a rebate after their confirmed participation in the conference, and the submission of reimbursement paperwork.

The Orient-Institut Istanbul is pleased to invite applications for Ph.D. research grants for 2019. The purpose of the grant is the support of field research in Istanbul/Turkey for Ph.D. students not living in Turkey. Grants are available to support research in one of the research areas of the Institute including the following research fields: Musicological research on the Ottoman Empire and Turkey Narrative sources on Istanbul and the Ottoman Empire Historic and contemporary forms of religious expression in Anatolia since the 11th century Manuscript cultures in the Ottoman Empire and Iran, in cooperation with the Collaborative Research Center 950 of the University of Hamburg Human, medicine, and society, in cooperation with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (ITAS) The award consists of a monthly stipend of € 1,100 for the duration of usually six months. Travel expenses to and from Turkey will be reimbursed. Start of the scholarship should be at latest November 1, 2019. Prospective applicants are expected to hold an M.A. degree in a related academic discipline. A complete application must specify the necessity of conducting research in Istanbul or elsewhere in Turkey and include a detailed time frame for the envisioned research.

1) Scientific Research Program: Scientific research grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded to organizations and individuals working to research the impact of music on the human condition. Examples include the study of the effects of music on mood, cognition, and healing; the medical and occupational well-being of music professionals; and the creative process underlying music. Priority will be given to projects with strong methodological design as well those designed to address an important research question. 2) Archiving and Preservation Program: This category support the efforts of organizations and individuals working to advance the archiving and preservation of the music and recorded sound heritage of the Americas. The archiving and preservation area has two funding categories - preservation implementation (grants of up to $20,000) and planning, assessment, and/or consultation (grants of up to $5,000).

Our Town is the National Endowment for the Arts' creative placemaking grants program. Through project-based funding, we support projects that integrate arts, culture, and design activities into efforts that strengthen communities by advancing local economic, physical, and/or social outcomes. Successful Our Town projects ultimately lay the groundwork for systemic changes that sustain the integration of arts, culture, and design into local strategies for strengthening communities. These projects require a partnership between a local government entity and nonprofit organization, one of which must be a cultural organization; and should engage in partnership with other sectors (such as agriculture and food, economic development, education and youth, environment and energy, health, housing, public safety, transportation, and workforce development). Cost share/matching grants range from $25,000 to $150,000, with a minimum cost share/match equal to the grant amount.

A fund of $10,000 has been earmarked to support public projects in memory of Doug Dillard and Arthel "Doc" Watson. Of special interest are bluegrass music-related projects and programs that involve education or youth. This is a competitive application process and candidates must meet the Foundation's Grant Application Guidelines. Grants awarded will be announced during IBMA World of Bluegrass week, September 24-28, 2013, with funds available after January 1, 2014.

The GRAMMY Foundation Grant Program awards grants to organizations and individuals to support research on the impact of music on the human condition. Examples might include the study of the effects of music on mood, cognition and healing, as well as the medical and occupational well-being of music professionals and the creative process underlying music. Priority is given to projects with strong methodological design as well those addressing an important research question.

The Residency Partnership Program supports ensembles and presenters in building audiences for classical/contemporary, jazz, and world chamber music through residency projects. Funding is specifically aimed at activities that take place in community settings and that are not part of a regular concert series. These activities may include, but are not limited to, clinics, interactive classroom programs, and lecture/demonstrations in libraries, hospitals, senior centers, or similar venues.  Projects must take place in the U.S. or its territories.       The length of the residencies ranges from a minimum of three days to one year. Grants support up to 75 percent of expenses directly connected to the project. The balance must be drawn from other sources, such as cash from other grants, earned income, or an allocation from the organization's general operating funds.

A program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, National Dance Project Touring Awards support national tours of new dance works, with up to $35,000 in funding for each artist and company. Awards are distributed as NDP Presentation Grants to United States nonprofits presenting the works and are intended to support artist fees and travel. Touring Awards are automatically given to all NDP Production Grant recipients. In addition, up to ten works created independently from the Production Grant process will receive Touring Awards through a competitive application process each fall.
