    The Building Bridges 2014-15 Grants Program will support nonprofit organizations in their work to plan and implement cultural programs or projects intended to increase public knowledge and understanding of current day Muslim societies through arts or media-based experiences. The program will support projects that create current-day, immersive, interactive, collaborative and/or engaging experiences tailored to the needs and interests of target audience(s).  A total of $1,500,000 will be awarded for projects and programs that begin in March 2015. Grants in the amounts of $25,000 to $300,000 will be awarded for projects and programs over one to three years, depending on the need of the project. Grants may support up to 75% of the total program or project budget. The total grant requested may not exceed 25% of the organization's annual expenses. Nonprofit organizations with operating expense budgets greater than $250,000 are eligible to apply.  Grantees will be selected through a competitive, panel review process. The application process will include three steps: an intent to apply electronic postcard to notify the foundation that you will submit a letter of interest (LOI); a letter of interest (LOI); and a full proposal from organizations selected by the LOI review panel.     The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan is pleased to announce an open competition for assistance awards through this Request for Grant Proposals (RFGP). PAS Kabul invites all eligible organizations (See Section III. Eligibility Requirements on page 5) to submit a proposal for a grant with the U.S. Embassy to enhance the capacity of three Afghan government media relations offices so that their media outreach increases in number and effectiveness and the gap between the Afghan public and their governemnt is narrowed. The grant's goals will be achieved by strengthening the capacity of the ministries to engage in proactive, effective, and truthful outreach to both public and private media. The three ministry media relations offices that this grant will train and support are: the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Public Health, and the Independent Directorate for Local Governance. This will be a one-year project, focused on training and production of new stories for a variety of different media. The successful applicant must have strong experience in communications, media training and public relations, with a broad track record in developing and placing stories about the real and measurable progress in Afghanistan with the Afghan media. The successful proposal also must show strong project management experience that demonstrates success in meeting both short- and long-term milestones. Success for this project also will be measured by the number of media activities, the number and impact of stories placed in the media, and the ability of the ministry press office to sustain and carry on this work after the award performance period has been completed.

World Health Summit: "Next Generation of Science Journalists" Award 2013 - 0 views

    To analyze and communicate complex scientific topics is more than just a profession - it is an art.  Medical science journalism is no exception. Accordingly, launching a career as science journalist proves to be an arduous endeavor. To help recognize emerging medical science journalists, Germany's most read medical journal Deutsches Ärzteblatt, the European Union of Science Journalists' Associations (EUSJA), and the World Health Summit (WHS) will grant the "Next Generation of Science Journalists" Award for the second time. The top selected five young professionals will be invited to participate in the WHS 2013 and experience a unique international networking and learning opportunity. This provides a career head-start as the annual World Health Summit attracts some 1000 high-ranking participants from all health-related sectors - from Nobel Prize laureates to CEOs and future leaders. Additionally, each winner will receive 500 Euro to recompense travel expenses.

    The Board of Regents is seeking high quality, focused cooperative education and internship program proposals from Ohio institutions of higher education and their partners. This program has been funded  through one-time casino licensing fees; it is expected that the funds will be awarded to build systems to sustain co-ops and internships beyond the direct investment from the State and to ensure these workbased learning opportunities are relevant to the needs of students and businesses.     The foundation will award scholarships of up to $5,000 to journalists from the United States and Canada to take religion courses at any accredited college, university, or seminary. The program is open to all full-time journalists working in general-circulation news media, including reporters, editors, designers, copy editors, editorial writers, news directors, researchers, and producers. Journalists can choose any religion, spirituality, or ethics course. Scholarships can cover expenses related to tuition, registration, parking, and books. Established in 1999, the annual prize recognizes professional reporting of outstanding merit that contributes in an exceptional way to the public understanding of psychoanalytic and psychological principles and phenomena. Any person, including authors, may nominate an article. To be eligible, work must have been written in English, intended for the layperson, and have been first published between July 1, 2012, and June 30, 2013. Nominated work need not be specifically about psychoanalysis or psychotherapy and may critique or question psychoanalysis, as long as it advances understanding of human relationships and/or the life of the mind.

    The Aaron Siskind Foundation works to preserve and protect photographer Aaron Suskind's artistic legacy and foster greater knowledge of and appreciation for his art through new books, exhibits, educational events, and scholarly research. Photographer and educator Siskind holds a preeminent place in the history of American photography. Beginning his photographic career in the 1930s as a social documentarian with the New York Photo League, he eventually radicalized the medium by emphasizing the photograph as an abstract form of expression and an aesthetic end in itself.  The foundation currently is accepting applications to its Individual Photographer's Fellowship Grants program.     Founded in 1962, the Kurt Weill Foundation for Music is dedicated to promoting understanding of the life and works of composers Kurt Weill and Marc Blitzstein and preserving the legacies of Weill and his wife, actress-singer Lotte Lenya.
