A collaboration between the Miami University Humanities Center and the Miami University Libraries, the Digital Humanities Fellowship program aims to help identify and support digital humanities research.   One successful applicant will receive a $2,000 professional expense budget and substantial technical assistance from Miami University Libraries' Center for Digital Scholarship (CDS). The CDS will commit this staff support to the development of the project over the course of one year.  The nature of support will be based on specific project needs.

The program awards grants for the digitization of important visual resources (especially photographic archives) in the area of pre-modern European art history and primary textual sources (especially the literary and documentary sources of European art history), as well as for promising initiatives in online publishing and for innovative experiments in the field of digital art history. The program does not typically support the digitization of museum object collections.

The Caxton Club, founded in 1895 to support "the literary study and promotion of the arts pertaining to the production of books," extends its call for entries for its 2019 - 2020 grants. Grants are awarded for expenses of up to $2,500 (each) for book-related projects to be completed during academic year 2019 - 2020. Grants totaling up to $10,000 will be awarded. Eligibility: Applicants must be enrolled in a Midwestern university graduate program during the academic year 2019 - 2020 with a project in one of the following areas:   Bibliography Book arts History of the book Library studies Print culture studies Zines Library workers and other professionals seeking additional training in the above fields are encouraged to apply. Applicants are required to submit samples of work in support the grant application. Book arts applicants should submit either a mock up dummy of the project, if available, or previous work. Bibliography and history applicants may include samples of their previous written work.

The program is a two-part initiative designed to foster new connections between scholars and journalists covering international affairs. To that end, it offers an interrelated set of awards, including programming grants for universities and fellowships for scholars in the humanities and social sciences who study religion in international contexts.

The program will fund up to three Nieman Fellowships for U.S. journalists who cover news in areas of the United States where resources for investigative journalism are scarce. Fellows will have the opportunity to engage in a full year of study at Harvard University, where they will acquire new knowledge and skills, broaden their understanding of issues important to their communities, build their leadership potential, and develop a network of expert contacts and potential collaborators in preparation for their fieldwork.

Inspired by its core belief that documentaries have the power to change lives and communities, the Southern Documentary Fund (SDF) works to cultivate documentary projects made in or about the American South. Through support from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, SDF currently is accepting applications for nonfiction documentary projects from residents of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Through the SDF Production Grant program, the fund will grant awards of $10,000 in support of original projects with potential to generate public discourse in the pre-production, production, or post-production stage.

The Short Documentaries program supports production of single films or a series of thematically-related short films addressing significant figures, events, or ideas.  The proposed film(s) must be intended for regional or national distribution, via broadcast, festivals, and/or online distribution.  The subject of the film(s) must be related to "A More Perfect Union": NEH Special Initiative Advancing Civic Education and Commemorating the Nation's 250th Anniversary.

Guggenheim Fellowships are grants to selected individuals made for a minimum of six months and a maximum of twelve months. Since the purpose of the Guggenheim Fellowship program is to help provide Fellows with blocks of time in which they can work with as much creative freedom as possible, grants are made freely. No special conditions attach to them, and Fellows may spend their grant funds in any manner they deem necessary to their work. The application for the 2021 United States and Canada competition is now available. All applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. or Canada at the time of application. The application deadline is Thursday, September 17, 2020.

A. Noam Chomsky Global Connections Awards celebrate the power of human connections. The awards recognize distinguished service to the global mission of the STAR Scholars Network. Several individuals with a deep impact on advancing global, social mobility are recognized every year. We live in a time when innovation and creativity in support of humanity are of great importance. Beginning in 2020, the Star Scholars Network is committed to promoting transnational research, or collaborative research between scholars of two or more countries (e.g., joint publications, research partnerships, etc.). The Global Connections Awards recognize STAR Scholars for their achievements and distinctive contributions to translational research that demonstrates the very best of scholarly collaboration among scholars around the world. In December 2020, the Star Scholars Network will provide awards in three categories: North Star Medal of Lifetime Achievement, Shining Star Achievement in Research Award, Rising Star Emerging Scholar Certificate

The Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL) announces a Request for Statements of Interest (SOI) from organizations interested in submitting proposals for projects that support Internet freedom under the ?Governing Justly and Democratically? Foreign Assistance program objective. This solicitation does not constitute a formal Request for Proposals: DRL will invite select organizations that submit SOIs to expand on their ideas via full proposal at a later date. This solicitation is focused on aspects of Internet freedom programming which are not related to technology development.

The Public Communications Award is presented by the Society of Toxicology to recognize an individual who has made a major contribution to broadening the awareness of the general public on toxicological issues through any aspect of public communications. The award should reflect accomplishments over a significant period of time. Examples of qualifying media in which the nominated communication may appear include books, brochures, continuing education courses, data bases, extension bulletins, magazines, newspapers (local or national), public presentations, public forums, radio and television scripts, and workshops.

The AAAS Kavli Science Journalism Awards represent the pinnacle of achievement for professional journalists in the science writing field. The awards recognize outstanding reporting for a general audience and honor individuals (rather than institutions, publishers or employers) for their coverage of the sciences, engineering and mathematics.

This is a Request for Proposal ("RFP") issued by the Office of the Ohio Consumers' Counsel ("OCC") to solicit bids from Independent Contractors to provide assistance to create, produce, edit and provide technical and graphic support for a series of educational videos highlighting consumer energy choices.

The Public Scholar program supports well-researched books in the humanities intended to reach a broad readership. Such scholarship might present a narrative history, tell the stories of important individuals, analyze significant texts, provide a synthesis of ideas, revive interest in a neglected subject, or examine the latest thinking on a topic. Books supported by this program must be grounded in humanities research and scholarship. They must address significant humanities themes likely to be of broad interest and must be written in a readily accessible style. By establishing the Public Scholar program, NEH enters a long-term commitment to encourage scholarship in the humanities for general audiences. In the early rounds of the competition, NEH especially welcomes applicants who are in the writing stages of their projects or who already have a commitment from a publisher.  However, the Public Scholar program also supports projects in the early stages of development.

The Miami Initiative for Advancing, Mentoring and Investing in Women (M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN) awarded nearly $104,000 in Giving Circle grants to students and faculty during the annual Leadership Symposium on April 12, 2018. Finalists pitched their projects the previous evening at the inaugural Hawk Tank event. This grant fund is open again for the 2018-2019 cycle.
