Specifically this program aims to strengthen the public health workforce through tailored training and technical assistance involving collaborative, community-based projects. Training curricula will provide skill-based, interactive instruction and quality education using multiple modalities (i.e., synchronous, asynchronous, distance-based, bi-directional video), underscoring the following eight cross-cutting core public health competency domains in the primary areas of (1) systems thinking, (2) change management, and (3) persuasive communication; and secondary areas of (4) data analytics, (5) problem solving, (6) training a "health work force [sic] that reflects and responds to the cultural diversity of populations served" as supported by section 766(b)(1),[1] (7) resource management, and (8) policy engagement. Each PHTC must develop trainings in the three primary areas and may develop trainings in the secondary areas and beyond based on the results from local health needs assessments.

Safety Matters: Managing Relationships in Women's Facilities is a research-based, gender-informed training program delivered to agency/jurisdiction teams of correctional professionals with responsibility for the safe and effective management of women in correctional facilities. The focus of this program is providing enhanced tools for corrections practitioners to address potentially dangerous and compromising relationships that can occur within a women's facility, while supporting the building of healthy and safe relationships. The training blends Virtual Instructor Lead Training (VILT) with on-site classroom Instructor Lead Training (ILT) with a targeted ILT follow up Training of Staff Trainers (TOT). Program content is drawn from PREA-related National Institute of Justice and Bureau of Justice Statistics research and data specific to sexual and physical safety in women's prisons.

The Jointly Sponsored NIH Predoctoral Training Program in the Neurosciences (JSPTPN) is an institutional program that supports broad and fundamental research training in the neurosciences. The long-range goal of the Enriched Doctoral Training in the Mathematical Sciences (EDT) program is to strengthen the nation's scientific competitiveness by increasing the number of well-prepared U.S. citizens, nationals, and permanent residents who pursue careers in the mathematical sciences and in other professions in which expertise in the mathematical sciences plays an increasingly important role.  The EDT program will achieve this by supporting efforts to enrich research training in the mathematical sciences at the doctoral level by preparing Ph.D. students to recognize and find solutions to mathematical challenges arising in other fields and in areas outside today's academic setting.  Graduate research training activities supported by EDT will prepare participants for a broader range of mathematical opportunities and career paths than has been traditional in U.S. mathematics doctoral training.

This notice solicits applications for the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Nutrition Training Program. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) will award funds to establish and enhance nutrition centers of excellence to improve access to comprehensive, community-based, nutrition-centered, and culturally competent coordinated care by increasing the availability of practitioners trained in MCH nutrition that are able to meet the needs of MCH populations. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2018 Mental Health Awareness Training grants (Short Title: MHAT). The purpose of this program is to: (1) train individuals (e.g., school personnel, emergency first responders, law enforcement, veterans, armed services members and their families) to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental disorders, particularly serious mental illness (SMI) and/or serious emotional disturbance (SED); (2) establish linkages with school- and/or community-based mental health agencies to refer individuals with the signs or symptoms of mental illness to appropriate services; (3) train emergency services personnel, veterans, law enforcement, fire department personnel, and others to identify persons with a mental disorder and employ crisis de-escalation techniques; and (4) educate individuals about resources that are available in the community for individuals with a mental disorder. It is expected that this program will prepare and train others on how to appropriately and safely respond to individuals with mental disorders, particularly individuals with SMI and/or SED.

Under the authority of Section 21(c) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (OSH Act), the U .S. Department of Labor (DOL) Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) established its discretionary grant program in 1978. In 1997, the program was renamed in honor of the late Susan Harwood, a former director of OSHA's Office of Risk Assessment. This program will support research training led by US-based cancer research-intensive institutions working in collaboration with institutions in low and middle-income countries (LMICs). The purpose of this program is to train academic medical centers and other centers of excellence (COEs) to create or expand technology-enabled collaborative learning and capacity building models (such as Project ECHO, ECHO-like models, and other emerging models in the field). The RTTC will develop and share freely accessible tools and resources that are adaptable to culturally and regionally diverse populations to provide training nationwide to facilitate the dissemination of best practice specialty care to primary care providers and care teams in rural and underserved areas. The activities undertaken under this Cooperative Agreement would be targeted to training FDA's regulatory counterparts who commit to doing further training in their respective countries, academia, and industry representatives. By training regulators, IICA would be providing up-to-date information on FDA FSMA requirements, as well as good agricultural practice knowledge.
