A. Purpose and Priorities The National Food Safety Training, Education, Extension, Outreach, and Technical Assistance Program will award grants that increase the understanding and adoption of established food safety standards, guidance, and protocols. Grants awarded through this program will be carried out in a manner that facilitates the integration of food safety standards and guidance with a variety of agricultural production systems, including conventional, sustainable, organic, and conservation and environmental practices carried out by the eligible entities. The assistance provided by these programs, to the extent practicable, shall be coordinated with and delivered in cooperation with similar services or assistance by other federal agencies or programs serving those eligible entities. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) have joined in a collaborative partnership to administer and manage the National Food Safety Training, Education, Extension, Outreach, and Technical Assistance Program. This program is designed to develop a comprehensive food safety training, education and technical assistance program for those affected by the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). Specifically, this program will address the needs of owners and operators of small and medium-sized farms, beginning farmers, socially disadvantaged farmers, small processors, and small fresh fruit and vegetable merchant wholesalers. The joint program will award competitive grant funds that enable awardees to establish a National Coordination Center (NCC) for Food Safety Training, Education, Extension, Outreach, and Technical Assistance and Regional Centers (RC) for Food Safety Training, Education, Extension, Outreach, and Technical Assistance across the country for food safety training, education, and technical assistance. The goal of the training grant program is to enhance the quality and availability of safety training for United States commercial fishermen. Availability includes the frequency, geographic considerations, channels or partners of dissemination, culturally and/or educational appropriate training material, and other characteristics of a successful training program. As a result, the Coast Guard and NIOSH invite applications to support the development and implementation of training and education programs that: develop and deliver training which addresses the needs of commercial fishermen in the United States, provide qualified marine safety instructors, or otherwise accepted by the National Maritime Center instructors and faculty to conduct the training, evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the training program on reducing injuries among fishermen coordinate with existing training programs and partnerships with industry, fishermen, and agencies, and conform to 46 U.S.C. § 4502 (i) Safety Standards for commercial fishing safety training.

One of the Secretary of Labor's goals for the U.S. workforce is helping American workers gain and hold good, safe jobs. One of the Department's strategic goals is to "Promote Safe Jobs and Fair Workplaces for All Americans." MSHA's role in accomplishing this objective is to "prevent fatalities, disease, and injury from mining and secure safe and healthful working conditions for America's miners." The Secretary of Labor, through MSHA, may award grants to state, tribal, and territorial governments (including the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands) to assist them in developing and enforcing state mining laws and regulations, to improve state workers' compensation and mining occupational disease laws and programs, and to improve safety and health conditions in the nation's mines through federal-state coordination and cooperation. MSHA recognizes that state training programs are a key source of mine safety and health training and education for individuals who work or will work at mines. MSHA encourages state training programs to prioritize training for small mining operations. MSHA is also interested in supporting programs that include training on miners' statutory rights, including the right to a safe working environment and the right to refuse an unsafe task. The Agency encourages grantees to focus on programs that include education and training related to occupational health hazards caused by exposures to respirable dust and diesel exhaust. MSHA also encourages recipients to focus training on powered haulage safety, conducting working place examinations, mine emergency preparedness, donning and transferring self-contained self-rescuers (SCSRs), mine rescue, training for contractors, and electrical safety.

The overall goal of the AHRQ Research Career Development program is to help ensure that a diverse pool of highly trained scientists is available in appropriate scientific disciplines to address the Nation's health services research needs. In addition to this opportunity, AHRQ supports other career development programs designed to foster the transition of new investigators to research independence. The objective of the AHRQ Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (K01) is to provide salary and research support for a sustained period of "protected time" (3-5 years) for intensive research career development, under the guidance of an experienced mentor. The expectation is that, through this sustained period of research career development and training, candidates will launch independent research careers and become competitive for new research project grant (e.g., R01) funding. The award may be used by candidates with different levels of prior research training and at different stages in their career development. For example, a candidate with limited experience in health services research may use an award to support a career development experience that includes a designated period of didactic training followed by a period of closely supervised research experience. A candidate with previous health services research experience and training may not require extensive additional didactic preparation, and may use an award to support a career development experience that focuses on an intensive, supervised research experience.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits applications for research projects in linked Hubs of Interdisciplinary Research and Training in Global Environmental and Occupational Health (GEOHealth). The overall objective of the GEOHealth program is to support the development of institutions in the Low- or Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) that will serve as regional hubs for collaborative research, data management, training, curriculum and outreach material development, and policy support around high priority local, national, and regional environmental and occupational health threats. Hubs are supported by two coordinated linked awards to 1) a LMIC institution for research and 2) a U.S. institution to coordinate research training. Together all regional hubs supported will form the GEOHealth Network, a platform for coordinated environmental and occupational health research and research training activities. An application submitted in response to this FOA for research projects must be harmonized with a linked application for related research training under RFA-TW-14-002 Hubs of Interdisciplinary Research and Training in Global Environmental and Occupational Health (GEOHealth) Research Training. This FOA is intended to support research that can only be conducted primarily in and/or by scientists of LMIC institutions.

This Request for Proposals (RFP) announces the availability of funds to establish one or more new cooperative agreements for FYs 2019-2021 for the purposes of developing a training curriculum, conducting trainings of trainers, and evaluating the results of farm to school trainings for producers to build their capacity to launch or expand farm to school efforts. In addition, the selected applicant will conduct a needs assessment among producers in close collaboration with State agencies (SAs). FNS expects to fund one or more competitive cooperative agreement award of approximately $1 - 2 million. This project will prepare State agencies, and perhaps additional entities, with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement the developed trainings in their states among agricultural producers (farmers, fishers, or ranchers) on key farm to school topics. This award is contingent upon the availability of funds. FNS may fund this project, in whole or in part, without further competition, in this or subsequent fiscal years. FNS anticipates the period of performance for this project will be 3 years. FNS intends to select an accredited public or private institute of higher education, a research or training institution, a non-profit organization, or a for-profit company that has an established producer and SA network and/or have successfully implemented training initiatives with a producer or school focus on a national level. The selected applicant will conduct a needs assessment, work with FNS national office and regional office staff to develop curricula and disseminate the trainings and resources.

The purpose of the BRAIN Initiative Fellows (F32) program is to enhance the research training of promising postdoctorates, early in their postdoctoral training period, who have the potential to become productive investigators in research areas that will advance the goals of the BRAIN Initiative. Applications are encouraged in any research area that is aligned with the BRAIN Initiative, including neuroethics. Applicants are expected to propose research training in an area that complements their predoctoral research. Formal training in quantitative perspectives and analytical tools is expected to be an integral part of the proposed research training plan. In order to maximize the training potential of the F32 award, this program encourages applications from individuals who have not yet completed their terminal doctoral degree and who expect to do so within 12 months of the application due date. On the application due date, candidates may not have completed more than 6 months of postdoctoral training.  

This notice announces the opportunity to apply for funding under the Regional AIDS Education and Training Centers (AETC), a component of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Part F AETC Program. The AETC Program consists of the Regional AETC Program, two (2) National AETCs, and an AETC National Evaluation Contractor (NEC). The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) HIV/AIDS Bureau (HAB), Office of Training and Capacity Development administers this program. The Regional AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) Program has been a cornerstone of HRSA's HIV/AIDS program for nearly three decades. Funding under this announcement will support a network of eight (8) regional AETCs. Each regional AETC will increase the number of health care providers who are trained and intend to counsel, diagnose, treat, and medically manage people living with HIV (PLWH) and help prevent high-risk behaviors that lead to HIV transmission. You are encouraged to consider how your proposed regional AETC activities will provide innovative, tailored, data-driven training strategies, training and technical assistance, consultation, and clinical decision support at the local and regional levels to health care professionals who provide health care services for PLWH.

NHTSA is responsible for reducing vehicle-related fatalities and injuries on our nation's highways through education, research, safety standards and enforcement activity. States are responsible for laws regulating individual conduct and behavior within their jurisdictions. This includes the regulation of impaired driving. The DOT has a long history of development and evaluation of prosecutor training for the prosecution of impaired driving cases. Beginning in 1991, the DOT committed to developing a comprehensive prosecutorial impaired driving program and other highway safety issues to support States and provide prosecutor training. Previous efforts have created five (5) training courses that State prosecutors may use and developed the delivery of the training to States. These training courses include courtroom preparation for law enforcement as law enforcement and prosecutors work closely to reduce drug impaired driving through enforcement and adjudication. NHTSA's support for prosecutor training development has continued and this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) provides the opportunity to further develop and evaluate training that will increase the knowledge and skills of State and local prosecutors involved in impaired driving cases.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) in Rwanda is to fill critical shortages of trained health care staff numbering in the thousands and enhance the skills of those charged with training the current and future cohorts of health professionals through increased enrollment in undergraduate and graduate programs, pre-service trainings and mentoring relationships. These efforts will create a sustainable supply of new health workers as well as future generations of health educators enabling the domestic system to become self-sufficient. Activities conducted under the FOA will work to increase capacity in Rwanda of highly trained and health professionals. Sustainability will be ensured through enhanced training opportunities and availability of necessary equipment to continue training in future years.

PART A -- Core Curricular Enhancements Strategic Direction A2 -- Promote educational enhancements that include transdisciplinary and interprofessional population health training Activity I: Medical Assistants Resources and Training on Immunization (MARTi) MARTi is a website http://www.marti-us.org/ hosted and updated by the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR). MARTi was developed to provide a collection of immunization training, education, and resource materials for medical assistants and those responsible for their training, such as office managers or supervisors. The website provides reviewed and credible training and education programs and resources specifically developed for the education and reading level of medical assistants. Activities will include the following: --Manage and update the website content and resources as new vaccine recommendations and best practices become available and redesign the navigation of the website to feature resources offering continuing education (CE) credits --Create newsletters and social media announcements --Develop responsive design website to provide access through mobile devices --Assemble a committee of experts to advance use of the website and recommend improvements. Committee will convene via conference call (3 or 4 times a year). The committee will consist of key groups including the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) and the Professional Association of Healthcare Organization Management (PACHOM) as well as post-secondary institutions training future medical assistants. CDC will not direct or manage any aspects of the committee.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) will award Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Institutional Research Training Grants (T32) to eligible, domestic institutions to enhance predoctoral and postdoctoral research training, including short-term research training, and help ensure that a diverse and highly trained workforce is available to meet the needs of the Nations biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research agenda. Research training programs will incorporate didactic, research, and career development components to prepare individuals for careers that will have a significant impact on the health-related research needs of the Nation. 

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) will award Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Short-Term Institutional Research Training Grants (T35) to eligible, domestic institutions to develop and/or enhance research training opportunities for predoctoral students interested in careers in biomedical, behavioral or clinical research. Many NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) use this NRSA program exclusively to support intensive, short-term research training experiences for health professional students (medical students, dental students, and/or students in other health-professional programs) during the summer. This program is also intended to encourage training of graduate students in the physical or quantitative sciences to pursue research careers by short-term exposure to, and involvement in, the health-related sciences. The training should be of sufficient depth to enable the trainees, upon completion of the program, to have a thorough exposure to the principles underlying the conduct of biomedical research.

The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) seeks to support interdisciplinary clinical research training to improve the capacity of the integrative health field to carry out rigorous research. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits renewal applications to support training partnerships between institutions with research intensive environments (e.g., institutions with a Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) or T32 programs) and institutions focused on clinical training of practitioners in complementary modalities and disciplines that have faculty with substantial interest in rigorous clinical research. The program will support mentored research training with hands-on mentored experiences in clinical research within NCCIH's Strategic Plan and didactic activities in clinical research methodology and integrative health. The funded training partnership is expected to generate a cadre of clinician scientists who participate in multi-disciplinary teams engaged in complementary and integrative health research. This FOA does not allow appointed T90 Trainees or R90 Participants to lead an independent clinical trial but does allow them to obtain research experience in a clinical trial led by a mentor or co-mentor.

The Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Fellowship for Students at Institutions Without NIH-Funded Institutional Predoctoral Dual-Degree Training Programs (Parent F30) award will support students at institutions without formal NIH-funded institutional predoctoral dual-degree training programs. The purpose of this FOA is to enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising predoctoral students, who are matriculated in a combined MD/PhD or other dual-doctoral degree training program (e.g., DO/PhD, DDS/PhD, AuD/PhD, DVM/PhD), and who intend careers as physician/clinician-scientists. Applicants must propose an integrated research and clinical training plan and a dissertation research project in scientific health-related fields relevant to the missions of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers. The fellowship experience is expected to clearly enhance the individuals' potential to develop into a productive, independent physician/clinician-scientist. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is designed specifically for applicants proposing research that does not involve leading an independent clinical trial, a clinical trial feasibility study, or an ancillary study to a clinical trial, but does allow applicants to propose research experience in a clinical trial led by a sponsor or co-sponsor.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages applications for a planning grant from institutions in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to 1.) Design a Global Infectious Disease (GID) Research Training Program in collaboration with U.S. collaborators and 2.) Strengthen LMIC faculty and prepare advanced courses and training resources for the program envisioned at the LMIC institution. The application should propose a collaborative process to create a new training program that will strengthen the capacity of the LMIC institution to conduct infectious disease research. Applications should include activities to strengthen LMIC faculty leadership and skills as well as prepare advanced scientific didactic and methodology courses and research training resources development relevant to the program to be planned. A detailed vision for a research training program that focuses on a major endemic or life-threatening emerging infectious disease, neglected tropical disease, infections that frequently occur as a co-infection in HIV infected individuals or infections associated with non-communicable disease conditions of public health importance in LMICs should be proposed.
