The NIH Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) and its cosponsors invite institutional career development award applications for Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health (BIRCWH) Career Development Programs, hereafter termed "Programs." Programs will support mentored research career development of junior faculty members, known as BIRCWH Scholars, who have recently completed clinical training or postdoctoral fellowships, and who will be engaged in interdisciplinary basic, translational, behavioral, clinical, and/or health services research relevant to women's health, and where appropriate the use of both sexes to better understand the influence of sex as a variable on health and disease.

This $18,000 fellowship offers support to medical-dental students who have substantial interests in research and teaching careers in pharmacology/clinical pharmacology and who are willing to work ful time in a specific research effort.

The broad goal of the Interdisciplinary Research Leaders (IRL) program is to produce diverse interdisciplinary leaders who conduct and apply high-quality, community-engaged, action-oriented, equity-focused, health research in order to drive improvements in the health of communities. Accordingly, the program will recruit and select a diverse cohort of mid-career researchers and community members to become IRL program fellows. Each cohort of fellows will participate in a three-year program. During this time, fellows will receive leadership training, the opportunity for cutting-edge research method exploration, mentoring, networking opportunities, and fellowship and research funds, so that they may better effect change and become the next generation of leaders in population health and health equity research.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) allows appointment of Scholars proposing to serve as the lead investigator of an independent clinical trial; or proposing a separate ancillary clinical trial; or proposing to gain research experience in a clinical trial led by another investigator, as part of their research and career development. The clinical trial must be a NIH-defined clinical trial. Scholars may also propose fundamental research or human subjects research that is not a clinical trial.

With the goal of cultivating future generations of rheumatology professionals and ensuring that people with rheumatic diseases have access to the care they need, the Rheumatology Research Foundation has issued a call for applications for its education and training awards. Fellowship Training Award, Workforce Expansion - To ensure an adequate supply of rheumatology providers working to meet the needs of children and adults with rheumatic diseases in every part of the country, awards of up to $100,000 over two years for adult programs and up to $150,000 over three years for pediatric programs will support for the training of a promising rheumatology fellow at an institution that has previously been unable to fill all its ACGME-approved slots due to funding constraints or the creation of a new slot or program.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) awards senior individual research training fellowships to experienced scientists who wish to make major changes in the direction of their research careers or who wish to broaden their scientific background by acquiring new research capabilities as independent investigators in research fields relevant to the missions of participating NIH Institutes and Centers. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is designed specifically for applicants proposing research that does not involve leading an independent clinical trial, a clinical trial feasibility study, or an ancillary study to a clinical trial, but does allow applicants to propose research experience in a clinical trial led by a sponsor or co-sponsor.

The Scleroderma Foundation seeks applications from established investigators both inside and outside the field of scleroderma research for pilot studies designed to obtain preliminary data regarding a highly innovative and/or highly relevant theme related to the disease. The grant is intended to support pilot research likely to lead to more substantial research project grants from federal or non-federal sources. Applications may be submitted by U.S. nonprofit organizations, public and private, including universities, colleges, hospitals, and laboratories. Foreign organizations and institutions are eligible to apply as well. Applicants must have a doctorate degree in medicine, osteopathy, veterinary medicine, or one of the sciences; have completed a postdoctoral fellowship; and have been principal investigator on grants from the Scleroderma Foundation or other national, private, or government agencies in the past. Applicants may request up to $75,000 per year for up to two years.

The purpose of the NIMH Administrative Supplement Program to Enable Continuity of Research Experiences of MD/PhDs during Clinical Training is to support advanced research opportunities for exceptional individuals holding the MD/PhD degree who are early in their research careers and thereby help these individuals transition efficiently and effectively from the period of clinical training to the next stage of their research careers. This administrative supplement program will provide focused, protected research time for eligible individuals during residency and/or clinical fellowship. The proposed research experience must have the potential to contribute significantly to the candidates research career. With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals to strengthen the medical examiner/coroner (ME/C) system in the United States. Through this program, NIJ will support grants in two focus areas by: (1) Supporting forensic pathology fellowships; and (2) Providing resources necessary for medical examiner and coroner offices to achieve accreditation. Statutory Authority: Any awards under this solicitation would be made under statutory authority provided by a full-year appropriations act for FY 2018. As of the writing of this solicitation, the Department of Justice is operating under a short-term "Continuing Resolution"; no full-year appropriation for the Department has been enacted for FY 2018.

In 1994 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) collaborated with a broad range of partners in clinical medicine and public health to develop an emerging infections strategy in response to the recommendations issued by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) in its 1993 report, “Emerging Infections: Microbial Threats to Health in the United States.” Leading this strategy was the CDC Office of Infectious Diseases (OID)/National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID). One goal was to strengthen local, state, and federal public health infrastructures to support surveillance and implement prevention and control programs. The implementation strategy for this goal was to: 1) provide state-of-the-art training in diagnostic evaluation and testing for medical laboratory personnel to ensure the diagnosis and surveillance of emerging infections; and 2) establish a public health laboratory fellowship in infectious diseases that will train medical microbiologists in public health approaches to diagnosis and molecular epidemiology.

There is a fellowship opportunity at the Center for Global Health, Division of Global Health Protection (DGHP) Communications Team at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. The fellow will have the opportunity to be involved in the following activities: Training and learning about CDC's global health capacity building programs through conducting communication research and identifying best practices in communicating with different audiences to enhance messaging from the Division.  Training in clear communication, message development, risk communication, research methods, and the use of the clear communications index.  Training on the use of social media and digital media to communicate scientific information, and how DGHP conducts outbreak and emergency response efforts. This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and CDC. The initial appointment is for one year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. The appointment is full-time at CDC in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Participants do not become employees of CDC, DOE or the program administrator, and there are no employment-related benefits.

To that end, CATCH is accepting applications for its CATCH Planning and Implementation Grants program and CATCH Resident Grants program. 1) Planning and Implementation Grants: Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to individual pediatricians and fellowship trainees for the planning of innovative community-based child health initiatives that ensure all children in the community have access to healthcare services not otherwise available. Priority will be given to projects that serve communities with the greatest health disparities. Outreach must be to the community at large, not to practice or clinic patients only, and all initiatives should incorporate screening for or connecting children to medical homes and available insurance programs. All pediatricians are eligible to apply regardless of employment setting or retirement status. 2) Resident Grants: Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded to pediatric residents for the planning and/or implementation of community-based child health initiatives. Projects must include planning activities or demonstrate completed planning activities, and may include implementation activities.

Through the program, NKF will award grants of up to $35,000 in support of research projects in the field of nephrology and related disciplines conducted by individuals who have completed fellowship training and who hold a junior faculty position at a university-affiliated medical center in the United States.

Objective To help trainees initiate careers in cardiovascular and stroke research while obtaining significant research results under the supervision of a sponsor or mentor; supports individuals before they're ready for some stage of independent research. Science Focus Research broadly related to cardiovascular function and disease and stroke, or to related clinical, basic science, bioengineering or biotechnology, and public health problems, including multidisciplinary efforts.
