The U.S. government believes in encouraging the development and implementation of innovative programs to permit local governments in the prevention of Gender Based Violence and Domestic Violence the community. INL Costa Rica emboldens local governments and local law enforcement agencies in reorienting the emphasis of their activities from reacting to Gender Based Violence and Domestic Violence to preventing and providing quality services to Gender Based Violence and Domestic Violence victims. To support INL and U.S. Government gender initiatives in Costa Rica, INL has allocated up to $250,000 USD for the a project to build capacity of Local Governments to prevent and provide services to Gender Based Violence and Domestic Violence victims, which can be awarded for up to 24 months.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to encourage research grant applications that propose to develop or substantially modify existing cutting-edge tools that will advance prenatal and/or pediatric hydrocephalus research. The primary objective of this FOA is to remove barriers to hydrocephalus research that are due to scarcity of tools to investigate both the disease mechanisms and alternative therapies (non-shunt) in a rigorous manner. Applications should aim to transform the field of prenatal and/or pediatric hydrocephalus research by generating tools including animal and cell models, novel methods and innovative technologies that will be widely used throughout the neuroscience community to understand disease mechanisms and/or developing therapeutics.

The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), through the Fertility and Infertility (FI) and the Gynecological, Health and Disease (GHD) Branches, provides funding for a limited number of research centers in the reproductive and gynecological sciences. For the purpose of this FOA, reproductive health includes both fertility/infertility and gynecological health. These centers provide an arena for multidisciplinary interactions among basic and clinical scientists interested in establishing high quality translational research programs in these scientific areas. The centers also serve as national resources for the training and career development of junior scientists electing to pursue biomedical research careers in reproductive health. Finally, center investigators develop and participate in community outreach and education efforts to increase awareness and convey the importance and implications of their research activities to the general public. The purpose of this FOA is to announce the re-competition of the National Centers for Translational Research in Reproduction and Infertility (NCTRI). The NCTRI will be administered through the Specialized Research Center (P50) award mechanism. These centers will form a national network that facilitates and accelerates bidirectional knowledge transfer between the laboratory and clinic with the ultimate goal of improving human reproductive and gynecological health through research excellence and innovation.

The purpose of the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support pilot research projects using a "Traceback" approach to genetic testing women with a personal or family history of ovarian cancer and reaching out to family members to identify unaffected individuals at increased risk for cancer in different clinical contexts and communities, including racially/ethnically diverse populations.

The Campus Program encourages a comprehensive coordinated community approach that enhances victim safety, provides services for victims and supports efforts to hold offenders accountable. The funding supports activities that develop and strengthen trauma informed victim services and strategies to prevent, investigate, respond and prosecute sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking. The development of campus-wide coordinated responses involving campus victim service providers, law enforcement/campus safety officers, health providers, housing officials, administrators, student leaders, faith-based leaders, representatives from student organizations, and disciplinary board members is critical. To be effective, campus responses must also link to local off-campus criminal justice agencies and service providers, including local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors' offices, courts, and nonprofit, nongovernmental victim advocacy and victim services organizations. Campuses are encouraged to create or revitalize large-scale efforts that treat sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking as serious offenses by adopting effective policies and protocols, developing victim services and programs that prioritize victim safety, ensuring offender accountability, and implementing effective prevention approaches. Colleges and universities should demonstrate to every student that these crimes will not be tolerated, that perpetrators will face serious consequences, and that holistic services are available for victims.

The Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) announces an open competition for assistance award in Armenia. Organizations may submit grant proposals for programs that encourage probation development and corrections reform and rehabilitation programs for women. The activities under this award shall take place in Armenia. The announcement is for the solicitation of one award totaling up to $150,000. INL is seeking proposals with an implementation period of 6 months. A full proposal and budget should be developed for the implementation period of 6 months. Activities under this cooperative agreement must be implemented in their entirety by the primary recipient and/or sub-grantees that are explicitly listed and described in the proposal.

The most recent survey by the Moroccan High Commission for Planning, published in 2011, found that 62.8 percent of women aged 18 to 65 had experienced physical, psychological, sexual, or economic violence within the prior 12 months. Further, 55 percent of women surveyed reported domestic violence and 13.5 per cent reported family violence. Less than 3 percent of women who had experienced domestic violence had reported it to the authorities. Both national and international civil society reports indicate that of women who do report abuse to authorities, many do not receive the assistance required by existing Moroccan law and procedure. This has been attributed to a lack of a clear legal framework specific to gender-based violence (GBV) - draft law 103-13 on combatting violence against women remains pending - as well as social stigma, and limited awareness and implementation of existing GBV protections and reforms. The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) announces an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for projects that help combat gender-based violence in Morocco. DRL's objective for this program is to enhance the ability of Moroccan government and civil society stakeholders engaging on GBV to advance survivor-centered protections. All proposals should include efforts that bring together key stakeholders, including justice and security sector actors, to promote effectiveness and accountability in gender-based violence prevention and response. NIJ is interested in supporting research on the criminal justice system's responses to intimate partner violence, teen dating violence, sexual violence, and stalking, generally, and related to violence against American Indian and Alaska Native women.

The mission of the Office of Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering and Tracking (SMART) is to assist jurisdictions with implementation of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) and provide assistance to criminal justice professionals across the entire spectrum of sex offender management activities needed to ensure public safety. Statutory Authority: Funding for this project is authorized pursuant to the Adam Walsh Child Protection Act, 34 U.S.C. 20901 et seq. The SMART Office will fund one fellowship position focusing on enhancing SORNA jurisdictions' registration and notification programs by improving their responses to the victims of sexual violence and exploitation.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announces the availability of Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 funds to implement PS18-1808, National Network to Enhance Capacity of State and Local Sexually Transmitted Disease Prevention Programs (NNECS). The project period is for 5 years with a 12-month budget period, and an anticipated award date of September 01, 2018. The primary purpose of this cooperative agreement is to fund a National organization representing state, local, and territorial STD program directors to enhance workforce and operational capacity of STD prevention programs, and ensure that strategic communication channels and partnerships are in place that advance national STD prevention objectives.

The Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) announces a Request for Statements of Interest (RSOI) from organizations interested in submitting Statements of Interest (SOI) outlining project concepts and capacity to manage programs that will contribute to stabilization in Iraq by advancing human rights and rule of law; promoting reconciliation, accountability, and atrocities prevention; strengthening effective governance and increasing political participation; and protecting and empowering women, youth, and marginalized populations, including ethnic and religious minorities. The purpose of this FOA is two-fold: (1) to advance identification of male-female differences in drug and alcohol research outcomes, to uncover the mechanisms of those differences, and to conduct translational research on those differences, and (2) to advance research specific to women or highly relevant to women. The purpose of the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW)'s Research and Evaluation (R&E) Initiative is to research and evaluate approaches to combating domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. By generating more knowledge about strategies for serving victims and holding offenders accountable, communities that benefit from Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) funding will be better equipped to align their work with practices that are known to be effective, and they will be more capable of generating empirical knowledge on the efficacy of new and promising ways of doing things. R&E is designed to support researcher-practitioner partnerships and a broad range of research and evaluation methods, including qualitative, mixed-method, and quasi-experimental designs.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate in Kolkata (PAS Kolkata) seeks proposals for a project entitled "Women for Women: Supporting Each Other to Build Sustainable Careers." Under this project, a grantee will partner with PAS Kolkata to host weekly mentoring workshops at the American Center for 20 women between the ages of 20-25 pursuing undergraduate studies in STEM fields in Kolkata who have little to no exposure to the U.S and the American higher education system. The workshops will be conducted by four experts, preferably female alumni of USG programs, who have built successful careers. In addition, each woman will participate in 12 one-on-one virtual exchange sessions with a current STEM student studying in a U.S. university, preferably EducationUSA alumni or STEM Fulbright Fellow. The findings from the virtual exchanges will be incorporated into the workshop to achieve a global perspective of working women professionals. The English Speaking Union of the United States each year sponsors a travel grant for study or research providing a stipend of up to $2,000. This competition is open to qualified under-graduate and post-graduate students, faculty, and others involved in academic pursuits that are in accord with the goal of the English Speaking Union of promoting education and understanding among the English speaking peoples of the world. The grant is designed to assist worthy individuals who are active in the fields of Business, the Humanities, Science and Engineering, Liberal, Fine or Applied Arts and who wish to study or conduct research either in the United States or in one of the countries of the British Commonwealth.

The Oberlin College Archives established the Frederick B. Artz Summer Research Grants Program in 1990. This research program, which is made possible by a grant from the Oberlin Historical and Improvement Organization, is intended to encourage and facilitate the publication of scholarly, humanistic studies based on archival and special collections sources at Oberlin College, with special emphasis on the history of the institution, Oberlin Community and liberal arts education. Studies of a local nature involving the resources of both archival and special collections departments are especially encouraged.Researchers will be selected on the quality and significance of their research proposal, its relationship to the holdings of the Oberlin College Archives and Oberlin College Library, and on the potential for publication.

Special Collections at Smith College offer four fellowships. The Sophia Smith Collection and the Smith College Archives offer the Margaret Storrs Grierson, Friends of the Smith College Libraries, and Carel B. Germain Fellowships awarded in an annual competition. Scholars will hold awards of $2,500, intended to support research visits of four to six weeks.  One Mortimer Fellowship of $2,500 is awarded annually for research in the rare book collection.

The L'Oréal USA For Women in Science fellowship program awards five women postdoctoral scientists annually with grants of $60,000 each for their contributions in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields and commitment to serving as role models for younger generations. The program is the U.S. component of the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Fellowships program. L'Oréal USA partners with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) to manage the program's application and peer-review process. The 2018 L'Oréal USA for Women in Science application period will open December 4th, 2017 and will close on February 2nd, 2018.
