This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) calls for research on the health of transgender and gender nonconforming people of all ages, including both youth and adults who are questioning their gender identity and those individuals who are making or who have made a transition from being identified as one gender to the other. This group encompasses individuals whose gender identity differs from the sex on their original birth certificate or whose gender expression varies significantly from what is traditionally associated with or typical for that sex.

CDC plans to fund one organization to raise awareness about the risks of prenatal alcohol exposure and improve understanding about individuals affected by fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs) as well as to promote the prevention of FASDs and care of affected individuals. The work will focus on five major activities: (1) maintaining a national resource directory, (2) developing and disseminating information and resources to various audiences, (3) building capacity for state and local affiliates dedicated to services for FASD prevention as well as identification, care, and support for individuals with FASDs and their families, (4) conducting media outreach and media training, and (5) supporting a speakers bureau for enhanced FASD awareness and prevention efforts. The short-term outcomes to be achieved by the end of the project period focus on increased access to local and state-based resources across the country; increased access to accurate information on FASD prevention as well as identification, support, and care for individuals with FASDs and their families; improved linkages between healthcare champions and local affiliates; and increased awareness of the risks of prenatal alcohol use through use of presenters with lived experience.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of the Director announces the availability of administrative supplements to expand existing research to focus on Sexual and Gender Minority (SGM) health. Principal Investigators holding specific types of NIH research grants, listed in the full Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) are notified that funds may be available for administrative supplements to meet increased costs that are within the scope of the approved award, but that were unforeseen when the new or renewal application or grant progress report for non-competing continuation support was submitted. Applications for administrative supplements are considered prior approval requests (as described in Section 8.1.2.11 of the NIH Grants Policy Statement) and will be routed directly to the Grants Management Officer of the parent award. Although requests for administrative supplements may be submitted through this FOA, there is no guarantee that funds are available from the awarding IC or for any specific grant.

Based on funding availability, the proposed grant will support two annual international women's film festivals featuring films from Afghanistan and around the world. To qualify for submission, films should address women's lives and the issues confronting them, or their producers or directors should be women. The proposed festivals will provide talented Afghan professionals in cinema with an opportunity to engage with their international counterparts, celebrate and elevate women's roles and representation in film, mobilize public opinion regarding violations of women's rights, and provide a platform for young filmmakers to share their stories of Afghanistan with an international audience. The festivals will provide an artistic platform for the presentation of work by and about women and will include panel discussions with actors and directors, workshops, and cultural performances. PAS intends to issue an award for a period of 24 months (base period) with an option for one additional 12-month period (option period one).

This announcement is for submissions that advance GBV programming and practice at the field level, with a particular focus on initiatives and efforts that improve quality and accessibility of services for women, girls, and survivors of GBV. PRM will prioritize submissions that contribute to a broader evidence-base and builds upon current standards to enhance approaches or practice for the wider humanitarian community and submissions that promote inter-agency and inter-sectoral thought leadership and/or improve coordination at global and field levels. Priority will be given to proposals that demonstrate alignment with Call to Action Outcomes.

This notice solicits applications for the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Nutrition Training Program. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) will award funds to establish and enhance nutrition centers of excellence to improve access to comprehensive, community-based, nutrition-centered, and culturally competent coordinated care by increasing the availability of practitioners trained in MCH nutrition that are able to meet the needs of MCH populations. The program improves access to quality health care by (1) providing MCH nutrition professionals with interdisciplinary graduate education and training with a public health focus and emphasis on MCH populations and services - education and training designed to improve workforce capacity and foster leadership in program development and administration, systems integration, education, and nutrition services; (2) developing and disseminating curricula, teaching models, and other educational resources to enhance MCH nutrition programs; and (3) providing continuing education, consultation and technical assistance to local, state, and national organizations serving MCH populations while working in collaboration with State Title V and other MCH programs in order to address the needs of the MCH community.

The Neuffer Fellowship is designed for affiliated or freelance women journalists with at least three years of professional experience in journalism working in print, broadcast, or digital media. All nationalities are welcome to apply but non-native English speakers must have excellent written and verbal English skills in order to fully participate in and benefit from the program. The Fellow will complete research and coursework at MIT's Center for International Studies and journalism internships at The Boston Globe and The New York Times. The flexible structure of the program will provide the fellow with opportunities to pursue academic research and hone her reporting skills. Past fellows have taken advantage of opportunities to publish work under their byline through various media outlets.

The Course Hero-Woodrow Wilson Fellowship for Excellence in Teaching will support rising stars in the academy who love teaching, demonstrate excellence as educators, and are making their mark as exceptional researchers, poised to shape their fields. Designed for young scholars working towards tenure, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship is a "genius grant" that will emphasize the balance between scholarly excellence and commitment to teaching practice that draws on new approaches to pedagogy, creating a new level of engagement for students in and beyond the classroom. In short, Fellows will be emerging heroes in their fields, on a clear trajectory to become great college educators. In its inaugural year, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship will identify five outstanding junior faculty members. Fellows will receive a one-year grant of $40,000-approximately $30,000 to support the engagement of a student assistant and the balance to be used for research and travel support. Exceptional candidates teach in ways that build student confidence and mastery of a subject; encourage critical thinking; explore foundational concepts through the lens of broader themes and global events; promote the power of learning communities beyond the classroom; leverage technology to complement the classroom experience; consider and serve different learning styles; prepare students for lifelong learning; and can serve as replicable teaching models for other educators. Selection takes place in June 2018. The five Fellows will be invited to attend the Course Hero Education Summit in July 2018, where their Fellowships will be announced.

Projects must include a focus on one or more NIH-designated health disparities populations, which include Blacks/African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, American Indians/Alaska Natives, Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders, socioeconomically disadvantaged populations, underserved rural populations, and sexual and gender minorities (SGM). Combinations of one or more populations is also encouraged, e.g. socioeconomically disadvantaged sexual and gender minorities.

The Transitional Living Program and Maternity Group Homes initiative supports strategies for successful transition to sustainable living for runaway and homeless youth, or pregnant and parenting youth and their dependent children. The application deadline is April 5, 2018.

The Emergent Fund was established after the 2016 election to help move quick resources to communities that were and continue to be under attack by federal policies and priorities - immigrants, women, Muslim and Arab-American communities, Black people, LGBTQ communities, and all people of color. The Fund focuses on grassroots organizing and power building in communities of color who are facing injustice based on racial, ethnic, religious, and other forms of discrimination. Grants are considered for the following: efforts that support emergent strategies that help communities respond to rapidly changing conditions, including resisting new or amplified threats and building power to move a proactive agenda; and efforts seeking long-term social justice and economic justice in a political and social climate that seeks to dismantle such efforts. The Tell Every Amazing Lady About Ovarian Cancer Louisa M. McGregor Ovarian Cancer Foundation, also known as T.E.A.L.®, is accepting applications for its 2018 Medical Research Program. The program, which aids in the advancement of ovarian cancer treatment research and the need for a screening test, offers funding in support of ovarian cancer research studies that are deemed to be most aligned with T.E.A.L.®'s mission by the organization's board of directors and a scientific advisory board. This year, the program has special interest in research related to the p53 gene, although it will accept proposals for other research related to ovarian cancer. In 2018, T.E.A.L.® will award one-year grants of up to $60,000. Project costs must be thoroughly outlined in the budget portion of the application, and grants cannot be applied to indirect costs or PI salary. The Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) announces the availability of administrative supplements to support research highlighting the impact of sex/gender influences in human health and illness, including basic, preclinical, clinical, translational, and behavioral studies. Of special interest are studies relevant to understanding the significance of biological sex on cells and tissue explants; comparative studies of male and female tissues, organ systems and physiological systems; sex-based comparisons of pathophysiology, biomarkers, gene expression, clinical presentation and prevention and treatment of diseases. The most robust experimental designs include consideration of both sex and gender; therefore, applications proposing to investigate the influence of both sex and gender factors are highly encouraged. The proposed research must address at least one objective from Goals 1 through 3 of the NIH Strategic Plan for Women's Health Research.

The Albert Einstein Fellowship supports creative, interdisciplinary thought by giving young scholars the chance to pursue research outside their previous area of work. Candidates must be under 35 and hold a university degree in the humanities, in the social sciences, or in the natural sciences. Applications for 2019 should include a CV, a two-page project proposal, and two letters of recommendation. All documents must be received by April 15, 2018. At the end of the fellowship period, the fellow will be expected to present his or her project in a public lecture at the Einstein Forum and at the Daimler and Benz Foundation. The Einstein Fellowship is not intended for applicants who wish to complete an academic study they have already begun. A successful application must demonstrate the quality, originality, and feasibility of the proposed project, as well as the superior intellectual development of the applicant. It is not relevant whether the applicant has begun working toward, or currently holds, a PhD. The proposed project need not be entirely completed during the time of the fellowship, but can be the beginning of a longer project. PLEASE NOTE THAT NO FELLOWSHIPS WILL BE GIVEN FOR DISSERTATION RESEARCH. THE PROPOSED PROJECT MUST BE SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT IN CONTENT, AND PREFERABLY FIELD AND FORM, FROM THE APPLICANT'S PREVIOUS WORK.
