The American Psychological Foundation provides financial support for innovative research and programs that enhance the power of psychology to elevate the human condition and advance human potential, both now and for generations to come. Since 1953, APF has supported a broad range of scholarships and grants for students and early-career psychologists, as well as research and programs that use psychology to improve people's lives.   

The award will be announced at the American Psychological Association convention in August. The award recipient will be invited to present the manuscript at the Annual AWP conference and will receive up to $250 in transportation expenses. Unpublished manuscripts focusing on any topic relevant to the psychology of lesbians are invited.

The Kenneth B. and Mamie P. Clark Fund, supports research and demonstration activities that promote the understanding of the relationship between self-identity and academic achievement with an emphasis on children in grade levels K-8. This grant will alternate every other year between an early career psychologist and a graduate student. The 2016 grant will support an early career psychologist. The Kenneth B. and Mamie P. Clark Fund was established in 2003 to honor the Clarks and to perpetuate their work as pioneers in understanding the psychological underpinnings of race relations and in addressing social issues such as segregation and injustice. The Clarks were the first and second African-Americans to receive PhDs from Columbia University. Their famous doll experiments, in which they asked children to express their likes and dislikes about brown-and white-skinned dolls, led the Clarks to conclude that the segregation in schools and society was psychologically damaging to the children. These studies are believed to be the first social science evidence considered as hard fact by the U.S. Supreme court, in Brown v. The Board of Education of Topeka.

As part of this mission, the foundation is accepting applications for its Roy Scrivner Memorial Research Grant program, which encourages talented students to orient their careers toward engaging LGBT family issues through basic and/or applied research; advance the understanding of problems faced by LGBT families, including those associated with cultural, racial, socioeconomic, and family structure diversity; advance the understanding of successful coping mechanisms, including sources of support and resilience for family members; and advance the understanding of clinical issues and interventions in the domain of LGBT. Preference will be given to advanced students who have demonstrated their commitment to this area through their dissertation research plans. 

The mission of the Society of Family Planning Research Fund is to support interdisciplinary research in the biological, medical, epidemiological, behavioral, and social sciences related to family planning. The society focuses on a wide range of research areas - from improvements in basic conceptual or biomedical knowledge, to design of programs or policies that will provide family planning more safely, efficiently and extensively, to studies of the social and psychological dimensions of family planning services and programs.

The Roy Scrivner Research Grants provide graduate student grants (preference given to dissertation candidates) for empirical or applied research that encourages the study of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) family psychology and LGBT family therapy. Researchers from all fields of the behavioral and social sciences are encouraged to apply.

The ADAA Career Development Travel Awards are given to help early career professionals who have a research interest in anxiety disorders and depression, such as basic and clinical neurobiology, psychopharmacology, anxiety comorbidities, clinical psychology, genetics, neuroimaging, epidemiology, comparative effectiveness, multicultural issues, public health, as well as other areas. The awards also familiarize and engage aspiring professionals with the membership and work of the association.

Manuscripts must be by and about women of color; we consider jointly authored manuscripts if the first author is a woman of color.  Papers and book chapters should be approximately journal length, written in APA manuscript style, and publication-ready (i.e., no working drafts).  We welcome papers and book chapters that are unpublished, previously published, presented at professional conferences, or manuscripts submitted for publication.

The most recent survey by the Moroccan High Commission for Planning, published in 2011, found that 62.8 percent of women aged 18 to 65 had experienced physical, psychological, sexual, or economic violence within the prior 12 months. Further, 55 percent of women surveyed reported domestic violence and 13.5 per cent reported family violence. Less than 3 percent of women who had experienced domestic violence had reported it to the authorities. Both national and international civil society reports indicate that of women who do report abuse to authorities, many do not receive the assistance required by existing Moroccan law and procedure. This has been attributed to a lack of a clear legal framework specific to gender-based violence (GBV) - draft law 103-13 on combatting violence against women remains pending - as well as social stigma, and limited awareness and implementation of existing GBV protections and reforms. The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) announces an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for projects that help combat gender-based violence in Morocco. DRL's objective for this program is to enhance the ability of Moroccan government and civil society stakeholders engaging on GBV to advance survivor-centered protections. All proposals should include efforts that bring together key stakeholders, including justice and security sector actors, to promote effectiveness and accountability in gender-based violence prevention and response. Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) is updating the trans-NIH Strategic Plan for Women's Health Research. NIH is publishing this Notice to solicit input from the basic, clinical and translational scientists as well as advocacy and patient communities on topics under consideration for the next strategic plan. ORWH was established in the Office of the NIH Director by the Public Health Service Act to (a) identify projects and multidisciplinary research related to women's health; (b) encourage research on sex differences and promote coordination among research entities; (c) assist NIH efforts to include women as subjects in clinical research; and (d) develop opportunities and support for women in biomedical careers. These efforts will continue to be part of the office's core mission. ORWH is tasked with the development of a trans-NIH strategic plan for women's health research that promotes allocation of NIH resources for conducting and supporting these research efforts across NIH Institutes and Centers.This Request for Information (RFI) seeks feedback on 3 cross-cutting themes and goals under consideration for the next trans-NIH strategic plan for women's health research. These themes will stimulate new research areas, priorities, and approaches to help put science to work for the health of women.

DHAPP's goal is to maximize program impact by focusing on the drivers of the epidemic specific to the military, and to support the development of interventions and programs that address these issues. DHAPP works with militaries of foreign countries to devise plans based on the following process:* Meet with key partners in country to determine provisional major program areas and other technical assistance needs DoD HIV/AIDS Prevention Program (DHAPP), based at the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) in San Diego, California, provides technical assistance, management, and administrative support of the global HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment for foreign militaries. DHAPP administers funding, conducts training, and provides technical assistance to participating militaries. In addition DHAPP staff members, both HQ and country based, serve on most of the PEPFAR Technical Working Groups (TWG) and Core teams through the Office of the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator. DHAPP provides HIV program execution and monitors outcomes, with staff that includes active duty military, civil service, and contractor personnel.
