The Eberly Family Special Collections Library on the University Park campus of Penn State offers travel awards of $1,500 for researchers whose work would benefit from access to the collections held at Penn State. Currently, three travel grants are available: The Dorothy Foehr Huck Research Travel Award: Supports one award for researchers using any collection from the Special Collections Library. The Helen F. Faust Women Writers Research Travel Awards: Supports two awards for researchers working on a project including women writers that would benefit from use of the Eberly Family Special Collections Library's collections The Albert M. Petska Eighth Air Force Archives Research Travel Award: supports one award for researchers working on a project pertaining to history of the Eighth Air Force during World War II.

A. Noam Chomsky Global Connections Awards celebrate the power of human connections. The awards recognize distinguished service to the global mission of the STAR Scholars Network. Several individuals with a deep impact on advancing global, social mobility are recognized every year. We live in a time when innovation and creativity in support of humanity are of great importance. The Star Scholars Network recognizes the commitment of concerned people able and willing to make a difference in the lives of others. Nominations for this award are solicited from around the world. The nominee can be from any field. Beginning in 2020, the Star Scholars Network is committed to promoting transnational research, or collaborative research between scholars of two or more countries (e.g., joint publications, research partnerships, etc.). The Global Connections Awards recognize STAR Scholars for their achievements and distinctive contributions to translational research that demonstrates the very best of scholarly collaboration among scholars around the world. In December 2020, the Star Scholars Network will provide awards in three categories: North Star Medal of Lifetime Achievement, Shining Star Achievement in Research Award, Rising Star Emerging Scholar Certificate

The Coordinating Council for Women in History Ida B. Wells Graduate Student Fellowship is an annual award of $1000 given to a graduate student working on a historical dissertation that interrogates race and gender, not necessarily in a history department. The award is intended to support either a crucial stage of research or the final year of writing. The applicant must be a CCWH member; must be a graduate student in any department of a U.S. institution; must have passed to A.B.D. status by the time of application; may hold this award and others simultaneously; and need not attend the award ceremony to receive the award. The deadline for the award is 15 September 2013.

Women in Technological History [WITH] a SHOT Special Interest Group announces its travel award for 2014. The purpose of the award is to encourage participation of "new voices" at the annual meeting of the Society for the History of Technology [SHOT]. WITH invites applications from scholars presenting topics or perspectives underrepresented in SHOT as well as from individuals who can contribute to the annual meeting's geographic and cultural diversity. The SHOT 2014 meeting will be held in Dearborn, Michigan, from November 6th to 9th. For meeting details, see:  http://www.historyoftechnology.org/annual_meeting.html. Eligibility for the WITH Travel Award is open to individuals who are giving a paper at the SHOT annual meeting. Priorities for the WITH award include supporting scholars or graduate students who are non-US, non-Western or who are new to SHOT, belong to a group underrepresented in SHOT, and or whose paper addresses issues of gender, race, ethnicity, and/or difference in the history of technology. The Travel Award is designed to help defray some of the costs associated with attending the SHOT annual meeting.  Up to three awards may be offered.  Awardees will receive a check for $250, with the possibility of additional funds depending on stated need and WITH's resources.  The winner(s) will also be honoured as our guest(s) at the annual WITH breakfast or lunch. 

CAREER:The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization. Activities pursued by early-career faculty should build a firm foundation for a lifetime of leadership in integrating education and research. NSF encourages submission of CAREER proposals from early-career faculty at all CAREER-eligible organizations and especially encourages women, members of underrepresented minority groups, and persons with disabilities to apply. PECASE: Each year NSF selects nominees for the Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) from among the most meritorious recent CAREER awardees. Selection for this award is based on two important criteria: 1) innovative research at the frontiers of science and technology that is relevant to the mission of NSF, and 2) community service demonstrated through scientific leadership, education, or community outreach. These awards foster innovative developments in science and technology, increase awareness of careers in science and engineering, give recognition to the scientific missions of the participating agencies, enhance connections between fundamental research and national goals, and highlight the importance of science and technology for the Nation's future. Individuals cannot apply for PECASE. These awards are initiated by the participating federal agencies. At NSF, up to twenty nominees for this award are selected each year from among the PECASE-eligible CAREER awardees most likely to become the leaders of academic research and education in the twenty-first century. The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy makes the final selection and announcement of the awardees.

The Darlene Clark Hine Award is given annually by the Organization of American Historians to the author of the best book in African American women's and gender history. The award is named for Darlene Clark Hine, a pioneer in African American women's and gender history and past president of the OAH (2001-2002). Each entry must be published during the period January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013. The award will be presented at the 2014 OAH Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, April 10-13.

The Prevent Blindness Ohio Young Investigator Student Fellowship Awards for Female Scholars in Vision Research provides training support for future generations of outstanding female scientists committed to pursuing biomedical, behavioral or clinical research careers relevant to the mission of Prevent Blindness Ohio - to prevent blindness and preserve sight.  Prevent Blindness will give preference to research fellowship applications which investigate public health issues related to the burden of eye-related health and safety topics and: * Represent the interdisciplinary nature of research. * Help translate research findings into improvements for health. * Target the health problems of the nation's growing underrepresented minority populations that are not receiving adequate attention. Fellowship awards are specifically restricted to provide a student stipend and/or to support needs specific to the funded research project. Grants are awarded for the summer session and commence on June 15th. Awards will range from $3000-$5000 depending upon the availability of funds. It is recommended that results be presented at ARVO, the year subsequent to the completion of their project (Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO).

The CCWH will award $20,000 to a scholar, with a Ph.D. or A.B.D., who has not followed a traditional academic path of uninterrupted and completed secondary, undergraduate, and graduate degrees leading to a tenure-track faculty position. Although the recipient's degrees do not have to be in history, the recipient's work should clearly be historical in nature. In accordance with the general goals of CCWH, the award is intended to recognize or to enhance the ability of the recipient to contribute significantly to women in history, whether in the profession in the present or in the study of women in the past. It is not intended that there be any significant restrictions placed on how a given recipient shall spend the award as long as it advances the recipient's scholarship goals and purposes. All recipients will be required to submit a final paper to CCWH on how the award was expended and summarizing the scholarly work completed.

Through our pooled fund, our members invest in the five areas which we believe are the foundational elements of a thriving and inclusive community - Arts & Culture, Education, the Environment, Health and Human Services. Each year, one Pooled Fund Grant Award is made in each of these five categories. Pooled Fund Grant Awards are made on an annual basis. The application process begins with an online Letter of Inquiry, which opens in September of each year. Funding decisions are made and announced each June. Organizations selected for a WA Women's Pooled Fund Grant Award will be asked to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that outlines the terms of the grant post-award reporting requirements and our impact assessment process. While we do fund programs and projects, including capital projects, we encourage organizations to apply for general operating and capacity-building support. Regardless of the type of support requested, we want to understand your community's needs and how your organization is addressing those needs through the delivery of services to those directly impacted by inequity. We seek to support and collectively invest in organizations that are reflective of and embedded in the communities they serve, draw on the strengths and assets of these communities, and are accountable to these communities in order to achieve the long-term goals of increasing equity and reducing disparities.

The Foundation for Women's Wellness, a nonprofit charity dedicated to improving women's health by raising support for innovative early stage research and education, is accepting Letters of Inquiry for small short-term studies with potential for improving medical knowledge in the area of women's health. Through the FWW Research Awards program, the foundation will award grants of up to $25,000 for research projects, with an emphasis on cardiovascular disease, female cancers, the role of hormones in disease, and/or stage-of-life health concerns such as pregnancy and menopause and diseases disproportionately affecting women. This may include disease prevention or treatment; clarification of gender differences; and/or quality-of-life concerns. Priority will be given to projects or studies that have direct clinical application in preventing and/or treating disease, and have the potential to yield results that will attract larger sources of funding for further study and/or influence long-term research and clinical care directions. To be eligible, lead investigators must be an MD and/or PhD with a faculty appointment at an accredited medical institution in the United States. In addition, the affiliated institution must accept the award on the awardee's behalf (with no administrative costs deducted). LOIs must be received no later than June 20. The Ohio Affiliate of  Prevent Blindness is accepting applications for its 2018 Young Investigator Student Fellowship Awards for Female Scholars in Vision Research. The Fellowship Program is designed to provide support for outstanding female scientists committed to pursuing biomedical, behavioral or clinical research careers relevant to the mission of Prevent Blindness - to prevent blindness and preserve sight.  Grants will be awarded for the summer 2018 session.  Awards will range from $3000-$5000 depending upon the availability of funds. The deadline for receipt of applications is Feb. 15, 2018. Applicants must be post-baccalaureate students enrolled in a master's or doctorate program during the summer of 2018, female, citizens or permanent residents of the United States, and conducting their research with a recognized academic institution in the State of Ohio. Applications from diverse fields in the health sciences including, but not limited to ophthalmology, optometry, nursing, genetics, public health, nutrition, gerontology, and bioengineering, are appropriate to the goals of this fellowship award. The Ohio Affiliate of Prevent Blindness encourages fellowship applications which investigate public health issues related to the burden of eye-related health and safety topics.

The ADAA Career Development Travel Awards are given to help early career professionals who have a research interest in anxiety disorders and depression, such as basic and clinical neurobiology, psychopharmacology, anxiety comorbidities, clinical psychology, genetics, neuroimaging, epidemiology, comparative effectiveness, multicultural issues, public health, as well as other areas. The awards also familiarize and engage aspiring professionals with the membership and work of the association.

The Coordinating Council for Women in History Nupur Chaudhuri First Article Award is an annual $1000 prize that recognizes the best first article published in the field of history by a CCWH member. Named to honor long-time CCWH board member and former executive director and co-president from 1995-1998 Nupur Chaudhuri, the winning article for 2013 must be published in a refereed journal in either 2011 or 2012. An article may only be submitted once. All fields of history will be considered, and articles must be submitted with full scholarly apparatus. The deadline for the award is 15 September 2013. The award will be announced at the American Psychological Association convention in August. The award recipient will be invited to present the manuscript at the Annual AWP conference and will receive up to $250 in transportation expenses. Unpublished manuscripts focusing on any topic relevant to the psychology of lesbians are invited.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of the Director announces the availability of administrative supplements to expand existing research to focus on Sexual and Gender Minority (SGM) health. Principal Investigators holding specific types of NIH research grants, listed in the full Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) are notified that funds may be available for administrative supplements to meet increased costs that are within the scope of the approved award, but that were unforeseen when the new or renewal application or grant progress report for non-competing continuation support was submitted. Applications for administrative supplements are considered prior approval requests (as described in Section 8.1.2.11 of the NIH Grants Policy Statement) and will be routed directly to the Grants Management Officer of the parent award. Although requests for administrative supplements may be submitted through this FOA, there is no guarantee that funds are available from the awarding IC or for any specific grant.

The goal of this FOA is to enhance the diversity of the drug abuse research workforce by providing dissertation awards on topics related to the study of basic and clinical neuroscience, development, epidemiology, prevention, treatment, services, or women and sex/gender differences as they relate to drug abuse. This support will enhance the pool of highly talented drug abuse scientists who conduct research within the funding priority areas (http://www.drugabuse.gov/funding/funding-priorities) or in the NIDA strategic plan (https://www.drugabuse.gov/about-nida/2016-2020-nida-strategic-plan). Applications are encouraged from doctoral candidates in a variety of academic disciplines and programs. This program will ultimately facilitate the entry of promising new investigators into the field of drug abuse research and promote transdisciplinary collaborations. This award is for up to two years of support for the completion of the doctoral dissertation research project.
