The Resident Opportunity & Self Sufficiency (ROSS) Service Coordinator (SC) program funds eligible applicants to hire Service Coordinators to coordinate use of assistance under the Public Housing program with public and private resources, for supportive services and resident empowerment activities. Service Coordinators assess the needs of public and Indian housing residents and link them to supportive services that enable participants to increase earned income, reduce or eliminate the need for welfare assistance, and make progress toward achieving economic independence and housing self-sufficiency. In the case of elderly/disabled residents, the Service Coordinator links participants to supportive services which enable them to age/remain in-place thereby avoiding costlier forms of care. Funds awarded to applicants may be used for (1)service coordinator functions, (2) training and travel related to professional and/or program development, (3) and administration cost.

The goal of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) is to target the most significant environmental problems in the Great Lakes ecosystem by funding and implementing projects that address these problems. The Fusion Energy Sciences (FES) of the Office of Science (SC), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), herby announces its interest in receiving applications to carry out experimental research in magnetic fusion energy sciences on long-pulse overseas stellarator facilities, namely Wendelstein 7-X (Germany) and the Large Helical Device (LHD - Japan). The research should be related to the planning, execution, and analysis of experiments concerning the topical areas described below. The FES Burning Plasma Science: Long Pulse portfolio supports U.S. researchers who work in collaboration with foreign scientists to explore critical science and technology issues at the frontiers of magnetic fusion research. These collaborations take advantage of the unique capabilities of the most advanced overseas research facilities.

Grants are made by the Board of Trustees of Ohio Cancer Research taking into account studies and recommendations of the Scientific Review Committee. Grants are available to investigators in either nonprofit or for-profit institutions, offices or clinics within the State of Ohio. However, grants to investigators working for profit-making organizations may not include funds for capital equipment. Grants are made with the stipulation of their use by a particular individual or group who are known as the principal investigator in support of a specific program of research under his/her/their direction. Full professors or their equivalent are not eligible. Only tenure track, junior faculty or equivalent scientific staffs are generally considered as appropriate. Postdoctoral fellows, Research, research assistants, and graduate students are ineligible to apply as P.I.'s, but they may be included as support staff. The P.I. must show evidence of independence. Applicants must be within six years of their first independent research or faculty appointment. Well established investigators should not submit projects related to their current area of research. Investigators previously funded by Ohio Cancer Research must provide justification that this application is significantly different from the previously funded project. Information regarding the results of the previously funded proposal and the P.I.'s success in obtaining further national funding must also be provided. Grants awarded by Ohio Cancer Research are made to support research activities broadly related to cancer and leukemia. Certain types of projects are not recommended for support. Among these are purely clinical work of a non-research nature and requests for the sole purpose of equipping a laboratory.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) supports efforts to disseminate resources and to integrate them into neuroscience research practice. Projects should be highly relevant to specific goals of the BRAIN Initiative, goals that are described in the planning document "BRAIN 2025: A Scientific Vision." They should engage in one or more of the following activities: distribution of tools and reagents; user training on the usage of new technologies or techniques; providing access to existing technology platforms and specialized facilities; minor improvements to increase the scale/efficiency of resource production and delivery; minor adaptations to meet the needs of a user community. The Scalable Parallelism in the Extreme (SPX) program aims to support research addressing the challenges of increasing performance in this modern era of parallel computing. This will require a collaborative effort among researchers in multiple areas, from services and applications down to micro-architecture. Objectives, including supporting foundational research toward architecture and software approaches that drive performance improvements in the post-Moore’s Law era; development and deployment of programmable, scalable, and reusable platforms in the national HPC and scientific cyberinfrastructure ecosystem; increased coherence of data analytic computing and modeling and simulation; and capable extreme-scale computing.

The Innovations in Graduate Education (IGE) program is designed to encourage the development and implementation of bold, new, and potentially transformative approaches to STEM graduate education training. The program seeks proposals that explore ways for graduate students in research-based master's and doctoral degree programs to develop the skills, knowledge, and competencies needed to pursue a range of STEM careers. IGE focuses on projects aimed at piloting, testing, and validating innovative and potentially transformative approaches to graduate education. IGE projects are intended to generate the knowledge required for their customization, implementation, and broader adoption. The program supports testing of novel models or activities with high potential to enrich and extend the knowledge base on effective graduate education approaches. The program addresses both workforce development, emphasizing broad participation, and institutional capacity building needs in graduate education. Strategic collaborations with the private sector, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government agencies, national laboratories, field stations, teaching and learning centers, informal science centers, and academic partners are encouraged.

Supports activities in conjunction with NSF-wide programs such as Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER), Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU), and programs aimed at women, minorities, and persons with disabilities. The ACI Foundation is a nonprofit organization established by the American Concrete Institute to promote progress, innovation, and collaboration by supporting research and scholarships, while also serving as an independent resource to provide thought leadership and strategic direction for the concrete industry. The purpose of the SCRI program is to address the critical needs of the specialty crop industry by awarding grants to support research and extension that address key challenges of national, regional, and multi-state importance in sustaining all components of food and agriculture, including conventional and organic food production systems.

The goal of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to translate and adapt the most successful global, evidence-based HIV-related service provision strategies to marginalized populations in the United States (U.S.) with a substantial risk of HIV-infection and AIDS. The ultimate goal, is to produce improvements in HIV-related health outcomes in these key populations through strategies that successfully and durably reach them with timely HIV testing, prevention and treatment technologies that lead to the achievement of the UNAIDS 90-90-90 benchmarks: by 2020, 90 percent of all people living with HIV will know their HIV status, 90 percent of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive sustained antiretroviral therapy and 90 percent of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy will have viral suppression.

If a consumer is currently using one of our client's products, the earliest that they can currently take a tablet or pill is first thing in the morning, as soon as they wake up. It will then take a little time for the medication to have an effect. This means that there is a time early in the morning when it is not currently possible for the user to easily obtain the benefits of the product that they are using. In order to address this, it would be convenient if the consumer could take some of the product before they retire to bed. The therapeutic effect is then delayed for a few hours until shortly before they wake up, so that when they do wake up the product has already started to work. The client would like to be able to introduce a "night-time" version of their current product, which would have a delayed action of least four hours, and ideally 4-6 hours. After this time delay, the product would behave as if it had just been taken by the consumer. In other words, there is an "immediate release" of the drug, rather than a controlled or "sustained release".

In order to further improve the consumer's experience, our client is looking for a novel, low-durometer material (hardness of shore A 25 - 75), that has a very soft touch and that can be injection molded. Moreover, the final material should be resistant to cosmetics which consist of various solvents (e.g. Isododecane), UV filters, waxes, pigments and preservatives.

The mobile or wireless solution must have the potential to solve a problem in the areas of access to education, health, access to communication, economic development, and the environment/disaster relief. The project must be at a stage of research where an advanced prototype or field/market test can occur during the award period, and the technology should have the potential for replication and large-scale impact. Applicants also should have a business plan or basic framework for financial sustainability and rollout.

NSWC Crane is interested in funding research where computer vision techniques are used to miniaturize 3D imaging by using depth inference from defocus and fusing the data with other image depth cues.

The program supports four main research thrusts that are envisioned to advance the goal of ubiquitous co-robots: scalability, customizability, lowering barriers to entry, and societal impact. Topics addressing scalability include how robots can collaborate effectively with multiple humans or other robots; how robots can perceive, plan, act, and learn in uncertain, real-world environments, especially in a distributed fashion; and how to facilitate large-scale, safe, robust and reliable operation of robots in complex environments. Customizability includes how to enable co-robots to adapt to specific tasks, environments, or people, with minimal modification to hardware and software; how robots can personalize their interactions with people; and how robots can communicate naturally with humans, both verbally and non-verbally. Topics in lowering barriers to entry include development of open-source co-robot hardware and software, as well as widely-accessible testbeds. Topics in societal impact include fundamental research to establish and infuse robotics into educational curricula, advance the robotics workforce through education pathways, and explore the social, economic, ethical, and legal implications of our future with ubiquitous collaborative robots.

JDRF is launching an initiative to accelerate the development of "open-protocol" automated insulin delivery (artificial pancreas) systems. JDRF is soliciting proposals from insulin pump manufacturers and continuous glucose monitor (CGM) manufacturers that will enable seamless, secure connectivity with other devices (e.g., by using Bluetooth technology). JDRF remains committed to supporting the traditional, proprietary commercial development of artificial pancreas systems; in parallel, JDRF will launch efforts in the United States and globally to partner with regulators and legal experts to establish predictable approval pathways for systems that allow for secure, open-protocol-based control through commercially developed devices and software

The purpose of this FOA is to encourage submission of Exploratory/Developmental Bioengineering Research Grants (EBRG) applications which establish the feasibility of technologies, techniques or methods that: 1) explore a new multidisciplinary approach to a biomedical challenge; 2) are high-risk but have high impact; and 3) develop data that may lead to significant future research. An EBRG application may propose hypothesis-driven, discovery-driven, developmental, or design-directed research and is appropriate for evaluating unproven approaches for which there is minimal or no preliminary data.

The Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Basic Energy Sciences (BES) announces a re-competition of the Energy Frontier Research Centers (EFRC) and encourages both new and renewal applications. Applications will be required to address priority research directions identified by the series of "Basic Research Needs" reports, the scientific grand challenges identified in the report Directing Matter and Energy: Five Challenges for Science and the Imagination, and the opportunities described in the report Challenges at the Frontiers of Matter and Energy: Transformative Opportunities for Discovery Science. All of these reports are described below. Funding will be competitively awarded to the successful Energy Frontier Research Center applications selected by Federal officials, based on a rigorous merit review process as detailed in Section V of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA).
