    The purposes of the NCIPC extramural violence prevention research program are to: 1. Build the scientific base for the prevention of violence by helping to expand and advance our understanding of the primary prevention of interpersonal violence. 2. Encourage professionals from a wide spectrum of disciplines of epidemiology, behavioral and social sciences, medicine, biostatistics, public health, health economics, law, and criminal justice to perform research in order to prevent violence more effectively. 3. Encourage investigators to propose research that involves the development and testing of primary prevention strategies, programs and policies designed to prevent interpersonal violence and reduce violence-related outcomes as well as dissemination, implementation, and translation research to enhance the adoption and maintenance of effective strategies among individuals, organizations, or communities.

    The Board of Regents is seeking high quality, focused cooperative education and internship program proposals from Ohio institutions of higher education and their partners. This program has been funded  through one-time casino licensing fees; it is expected that the funds will be awarded to build systems to sustain co-ops and internships beyond the direct investment from the State and to ensure these workbased learning opportunities are relevant to the needs of students and businesses. Funds will be awarded to build the capability and capacity of programs to engage more students, more businesses,  and more faculty members in co-op and internship programs. The programs should address the talent needs of JobsOhio key industries.

    To advance the priority of gender equality, The Office of Criminal Justice Assistance and Partnership (INL/CAP) strives to integrate women and women?s perspectives into its criminal justice system assistance programs. Mentors and advisors deployed to INL missions are in a unique position to help INL advance its objectives with respect to integrating women and women?s perspectives. In particular, they may have opportunities to offer suggestions concerning the participation of women to host country counterparts.     The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is soliciting proposals from organizations, groups, or individuals to enter into a cooperative agreement for an 18-month period to begin no later than September 15, 2013. Work under this cooperative agreement will involve the development of a competency-based, blended training curriculum that will provide corrections professionals with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to teach qualified staff how to train facilitators to use Thinking for a Change(T4C) 3.1. Specifically, this is a call to develop a Training for Trainers (T4T) curriculum. Applicants are encouraged to propose innovative designs to achieve the tasks set forth in this solicitation. The curriculum must contain components of both distance and face-to-face learning, with an emphasis on choosing the most effective and efficient delivery option available to achieve learning objectives. The curriculum will be housed and operated through NIC's online learning management system (LMS), the NIC Learning Center. All components of the curriculum must be compatible with the Learning Center, and a successful applicant will have a team member with the knowledge and skill to work with NIC staff on this aspect of the course.

Work under this cooperative agreement will be an extension of the NIC's Evidence-Based Decision Making (EBDM) in Local Criminal Justice Systems initiative. It will require the coordination of jurisdictions receiving technical assistance under EBDM and review of work produced under other cooperative agreements that resulted in deliverables under EBDM.Work under this cooperative agreement will involve all activities necessary to plan for the successful implementation of EBDM in a statewide structure. Specifically, the awardee will plan a comprehensive structure for implementation, including development of a technical assistance (TA) plan and the tools required to build capacity to implement EBDM within local jurisdictions and state-level criminal justice planning committees. The awardee will also revise "A Framework for Evidence-Based Decision Making in Local Criminal Justice Systems" to include needed content changes and additions to support statewide implementation; develop activities and tools needed to select a state that, through an identified process, is determined to have the greatest potential for successful planning and implementation of EBDM at the statewide level; provide TA to current EBDM sites and their states' criminal justice coordinating counsels and executive administration in preparation for statewide planning for EBDM implementation. This project will be a collaborative venture with the NIC Community Services Division.

    The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is soliciting proposals from organizations, groups, or individuals to enter into a cooperative agreement for an 18-month period to begin no later than September 15, 2013. Work under this cooperative agreement will provide support services to NIC Community Services Division sponsored networks. The networks are designed for NIC to assist in meeting the needs of the field of community corrections by serving defined groups of members. Each of the networks typically meets twice per fiscal year, for a total of up to ten meetings. The purpose of this cooperative agreement is for the awardee to provide specific support services to each of the network managers. Some of the potential tasks include attending network meetings to keep track of meeting minutes accurately, provide support to the network manager, prepare a summary report for the network participants, prepare a detailed report for the network manager, create a quarterly report on the "Hot Topics" from all the networks combined that may benefit the field at large, and other administrative duties relevant to each network meeting. This project will be a collaborative venture with the NIC Community Services Division.

These teams must have the participation of the judge, prosecutor, defense attorney, sheriff or jail administrator, and pretrial director, who have primary oversight of pretrial justice in their jurisdiction. The curriculum will help teams explore their independent and collaborative roles in the development and daily operational functions of maintaining pretrial justice within their jurisdiction.
