    The Department of Energy (DOE) and Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) invite input from the public regarding a research campaign to inform our understanding of offshore wind energy development that could be conducted in the next two to five years during the construction and operation of the first generation of deployed facilities. We aim to quantify the impact-producing factors (i.e. the characteristics of a project that may cause an impact, such as the sound produced during construction) associated with a project and to evaluate the efficacy of monitoring technologies and techniques deployed at offshore wind farms selected at a future date.     Rapid Ecoregional Assessments REA synthesize the best available information about resource conditions and trends within an ecoregion. They highlight and map areas of high ecological value, including important wildlife habitats and corridors, and gauge their potential risks from climate change, wildfires, invasive species, energy development, and urban growth. REAs also map areas that have high energy development potential, and relatively low ecological value, which could be best-suited for siting future energy development. In addition, REAs establish landscape scale baseline ecological data to gauge the effect and effectiveness of future management actions.

    Energy company Constellation believes that providing quality educational opportunities and career development are among the most important tools it can provide to communities to help them succeed over the long term.  To that end, the company is accepting grant applications for local community projects designed to inspire students to think differently about energy. Grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded for projects at the 6-12 grade level and up to $50,000 for projects at the college level. WaterSMART: Water and Energy Efficiency Grants for FY 2015 - 0 views

    The Nation faces an increasing set of water resource challenges. Aging infrastructure, rapid population growth, depletion of groundwater resources, impaired water quality associated with particular land uses and land covers, water needed for human and environmental uses, and climate variability and change all play a role in determining the amount of fresh water available at any given place and time. Water shortages and water-use conflicts have become more commonplace in many areas of the United States, even in normal water years. As competition for water resources grows-for crop irrigation, growing cities and communities, energy production, and the environment-the need for information and tools to aid water resource managers also grows. Water issues and challenges are increasing across the Nation, but particularly in the West, due to prolonged drought. These water issues are exacerbating the challenges facing traditional water management approaches which by themselves no longer meet today's needs. The U.S. Department of the Interior's (Department) WaterSMART (Sustain and Manage America's Resources for Tomorrow) Program establishes a framework to provide Federal leadership and assistance on the efficient use of water, integrating water and energy policies to support the sustainable use of all natural resources, and coordinating the water conservation activities of various Department bureaus and offices. Through the WaterSMART Program, the Department is working to achieve a sustainable water management strategy to meet the Nation's water needs.

    Sustaining habitat in the face of expanding energy development (wind, oil & gas, coal, solar, and nuclear) is one of the key challenges in managing for big game habitat across North America in the upcoming decades. Landscapes fragmented by open-pit mines, wind towers, well pads, pipelines, seismic and transmission lines, and roads can lead to direct (destruction or modification) and indirect (changes in behavior and ecological interactions) effects on big game that may have dramatic consequences locally, and cumulatively over large regions. As part of the Club's efforts to foster conservation of habitats on public and private lands, we are soliciting applications to support research that provides information for science-based management of big game habitat in the face of energy development.

    The tasks to be performed under this agreement are as follows: Task 1: Project Planning and Design The planning and design phase of the project will draw on work completed to date with information and analysis of existing site conditions completed by project team members. The Planning and Design process will include the following: Obtain and set up base maps for the project Develop an architectural design of greenhouse compatible with the existing historic structures including structural engineering Conduct an energy analysis including design of integrated system; for example a combination of alternative energy options. Complete final plans, including construction documents. Task 2: Determine Water Supply and Augmentation Needs The Recipient will determine demand and design water-related systems to irrigate greenhouse and outdoor plots. This task includes any water related engineering and legal services required to complete documents to legally use water for the project. Task 3: Determine Design of Outdoor Plots and Environmental Data Collection The Recipient will, with assistance from the Service, collect environmental data regarding existing conditions on the property as well as to assist in design of outdoor plots. Outdoor plots will be designed for optimal irrigation, drainage, plantings, and fencing. Task 4: Project Coordination The Recipient will provide overall project management and administrative oversight of the Upper Arkansas River NRDAR Native Plant Propagation at Hayden Ranch from greenhouse outdoor plot planning through implementing those plans.

    The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) through the Marine Minerals Program (MMP) is offering a cooperative agreement opportunity to conduct research to serve the public interest in offshore sand resources, coastal restoration, coastal resiliency, and to meet the MMP and Gulf States¿ goal of a Gulf-wide Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) sediment inventory. The overall goal of this cooperative agreement is to work with Gulf States to recover legacy geological and geophysical data that will ultimately provide for development of an offshore sediment resources inventory. One of the primary objectives is to coordinate with all 5 Gulf States and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management to develop a Gulf-Wide Sediment Inventory program for funding under a future opportunity such as the RESTORE Act Funded Priorities List. This funding is available to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). This is not an open solicitation for proposals. The OCSLA (43 USC 1345)authorizes the use of cooperative agreements with affected States to meet the requirements of OCSLA, including sharing of information, joint utilization of available expertise, formation of joint monitoring arrangements to carry out applicable Federal and State laws, regulations, and stipulations relevant to outer continental shelf operations both onshore and offshore. All awards are premised on receipt of an acceptable proposal.
