PAS Kolkata seeks proposals for the project titled "Cyber Safe East India-Workshops on Cyber Security for E-Businesses." Based on funding availability, the Recipient organization will organize a series of workshops for business practitioners in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and Guwahati. The workshops will be devised and implemented by the grantee with the help of U.S. cyber security and data protection experts. The goal of the workshops is to connect American and Indian cyber security experts to help small and medium businesses adopt safer business practices, ultimately ensuring the shared prosperity between the U.S. and India. The grantee will solicit participation from local and American cyber security experts, academics, chamber of commerce representatives, cyber law enforcing agency officials, and other relevant stakeholders to conduct a needs assessment of local business owners regarding web-based business tools. Collaborations should start early and virtually and will continue in-person during the workshops. The experts, in tandem with the grantee, will design the curriculum for a series of three workshops that help business owners mitigate e-business risks. The curriculum should be practical and relevant to a wide spectrum of businesses.The workshops should be conducted in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and Guwahati. Other workshop locations are a possibility depending on the findings of the needs assessments conducted by the grantee as a pre- workshop survey. Workshop duration and the number of participants at each city will be determined by the grantee and experts in close consultation with PAS Kolkata.

The Board of Regents is seeking high quality, focused cooperative education and internship program proposals from Ohio institutions of higher education and their partners. This program has been funded  through one-time casino licensing fees; it is expected that the funds will be awarded to build systems to sustain co-ops and internships beyond the direct investment from the State and to ensure these workbased learning opportunities are relevant to the needs of students and businesses. Funds will be awarded to build the capability and capacity of programs to engage more students, more businesses,  and more faculty members in co-op and internship programs. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) encourages Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant applications from small business concerns (SBCs) that propose development of a broad base of innovative technologies in biomedical computing, informatics, and Big Data Science that will support rapid progress in areas of scientific opportunity in biomedical research. It is expected that this research and development is conducted in the context of important biomedical and behavioral research problems. As such, applications are intended to develop enabling technologies that could apply to the interests of most NIH Institutes and Centers and range from basic biomedicine to research in all relevant organ systems and diseases. The SBIR Road Tour is a national outreach effort to convey the non-dilutive technology funding opportunity provided through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. Federal and State Program Managers representing the $2.5 billion in early stage funding have been invited to attend a series of events alongside technology entrepreneurs and innovation supporters from across the United States.

The goal of the Rapid Innovation Fund is to facilitate the rapid insertion of innovative technologies into military systems or programs that meet critical national security needs. The DoD seeks mature prototypes for final development, testing, evaluation, and integration. Those selected for award may receive up to $3 million in Rapid Innovation Funding and will have up to two years to perform the work. There is a source selection preference for technologies from small businesses. There are two phases in the source selection process: White paper submission and proposal submission. Proposal submissions are by invitation only.

1. Lithium-ion Battery Safety. Safety concerns continue to hamper full adoption of lithium-ion batteries for defense systems, despite significant research investments by the government and the private sector. This Defense initiative will advance promising lithium-ion battery safety technologies at university research laboratories into early laboratory prototypes and potentially minimum viable products for adoption by the defense and commercial sectors via early startups, small businesses and non-traditional defense contractors. Specific technical areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: improved electrolytes; stable high-energy anodes and cathodes; cell components and structures that enhance safety and reliability (e.g. use of electrode coatings and electrolyte additives); safety optimization through battery and battery module design and packaging; and battery management and state of health techniques that prevent and/or mitigate catastrophic failure. 2. Electrical Grid Reliability, Resiliency and Security. Both the defense and commercial sectors recognize the ever-growing criticality to enhance electrical grid reliability, resiliency and security through innovation at the component and system levels. This Defense initiative will advance relevant electrical grid innovations at university research laboratories into early laboratory prototypes and potentially minimum viable products for adoption by the defense and commercial sectors via early startups, small businesses and non-traditional defense contractors. WHO CAN APPLY? I-Corps@Ohio funds will be offered on a competitive basis to teams of faculty researchers and graduate students developing institution-based technologies from Ohio colleges and universities. Under the supervision of business and entrepreneurial mentors, teams will develop market-driven value propositions and scalable business models around their technologies and attract follow on funding to support company formation and market entry. APPLICATION PROCESS The I-Corps@Ohio proposal submission process consists of five steps: 1. mandatory meeting with the appropriate TTO representative(s) at the PI's institution; 2. team selection of technology track (science and engineering or medtech); 3. registration of all team members in the online portal; 4. proposal submission; and 5. full team interview with I-Corps@Ohio program representatives. All teams are required to complete the online profile and submission questionnaire beginning October 23, 2019. Deadline to apply is January 15, 2019. The PI may complete this information or designate another member of the team as the lead member. Subsequent members of the team will be invited to join by the lead member through the application portal and must complete his or her profile. Every effort should be made to identify all team members prior to submitting the online proposal submission questionnaire. Additional team members may be added later. Grant projects focus on connecting the resources and perspectives of the humanities to students' broader educational and professional goals, regardless of their path of study. Through this new grant program, NEH invites proposals that reflect innovative and imaginative approaches to preparing students for their roles as engaged citizens and productive professionals in a rapidly changing and interdependent world. Grants support the development and implementation of an integrated set of courses and student engagement activities focusing on significant humanities content. A common topic, theme, or compelling issue or question must link the courses and activities.
