DoD Peer Reviewed Cancer, Translational Team Science Award - 0 views

    The FY19 PRCRP Translational Team Science Award (TTSA) supports hypothesis-driven translational studies. These studies should be associated with a clinical trial. The proposed project should focus on research for the next-phase clinical trial or future clinical application. The TTSA is intended to support advanced translational studies that are based on results from clinical investigations. While funding for clinical trials is allowed, the TTSA is intended to support multi-investigator, multidisciplinary teams to perform clinical research studies and not only to fund a clinical trial. Research projects funded by the TTSA should address critical knowledge gaps in clinical outcomes, validate key research results, expand upon potentially game-changing results, or investigate novel clinical findings. New for FY19: The FY19 PRCRP TTSA Areas of Emphasis (strongly encouraged but not required): · Interventions to improve quality of life for cancer patients and/or survivors · Cancer prevention or early detection · Understanding metastatic disease to improve outcomes

    The American Association for Cancer Research is accepting applications for its AACR NextGen Grants for Transformative Cancer Research program. The annual program is designed to stimulate highly innovative research from young investigators. Three-year grants of up to $450,000 will be awarded in support of creative, paradigm-shifting cancer research that might not be funded through conventional channels. The funds are intended to support expenses related to the research project, which may include salary and benefits of the grant recipient, postdoctoral or clinical research fellows, graduate students (including tuition costs), and research assistants; research/laboratory supplies and equipment; travel applicable to the research project; publication charges for manuscripts that pertain directly to the funded project; and other research expenses and indirect costs. Research projects must represent a highly innovative approach to a major contemporary challenge in cancer research. The research, which can be in any area of basic, translational or clinical science, must have the potential to lead to groundbreaking discoveries in the field and transform our understanding of the tumorigenesis process and/or ability to treat, detect, or prevent cancer. To be eligible, applicants must have a doctoral degree in a related field and not currently be a candidate for a further doctoral degree. In addition, at the start of the grant term on July 1, 2018, applicants must hold a tenure-eligible appointment at the level of assistant professor; have held this appointment for no more than three years; and work at an academic, medical, or research institution anywhere in the world. AACR membership is required.

Accelerating Colorectal Cancer Screening and follow-up through Implementation Science (... - 0 views

    This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is associated with the Beau Biden Cancer MoonshotSM Initiative that is intended to accelerate cancer research. This purpose of this FOA is to promote research in colorectal cancer (CRC) screening, follow-up, and referral-to-care among target populations for whom screening rates are below national standards. Specifically, this FOA targets the following area designated as a scientific priority by the Blue Ribbon Panel (BRP): Prevention and Screening: Implementation of Evidence-based approaches. The Accelerating Colorectal Cancer Screening and Follow-up through Implementation Science (ACCSIS) program will provide an evidence base for multilevel interventions that increase rates of CRC screening, follow-up, and referral-to-care, and best practices for how multilevel interventions can be scaled-up to reduce the burden of colorectal cancer on the United States (U.S.) population. The UG3/UH3 projects in response to this FOA must apply for both the UG3 and UH3 phases together in the single application. The UG3 effort is to be used for the development of one-year, milestone-driven planning phase (UG3), with possible rapid transition to the second phase (UH3) for clinical trials. UH3s will be awarded after administrative review of eligible UG3s that have met the scientific milestones and feasibility requirements necessary for the UH3 phase, depending on availability of funds.

    The purpose of this funding opportunity is to establish a program of research to advance the understanding, prevention and treatment of pediatric multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). Given the prevalence and associated morbidity and mortality of MODS in children, the current lack of understanding underscores the need for more exploratory research. Possible topics of study include, but are not limited to, the epidemiology, pathophysiology, monitoring, and treatment of MODS. Studies that assess specific etiologies associated with MODS including, but not limited to, sepsis, trauma, acute respiratory distress syndrome, inborn errors of metabolism, burns, cancer, transplantation and congenital heart disease are encouraged. Applications may include any appropriate study design ranging from basic science animal models through small prospective randomized controlled trials. The intent of this R21 funding initiative is to encourage exploratory and developmental research projects by providing support for the early and conceptual stages of research projects addressing these topics. These studies may incur considerable research risk in efforts to make important breakthroughs in the understanding, prevention and treatment of MODS in children. Projects of limited cost or scope that use widely accepted approaches and methods within well-established fields are better suited for the R03 small grant activity code. It is hoped that the results of this exploratory research will translate into improved clinical outcomes for children with, and at risk for MODS.
