The Muscular Dystrophy Surveillance, Tracking, and Research Network (MD STARnet) - 0 views

    The purpose of this NOFO is to better understand the public health and clinical impacts of living with MD by conducting longitudinal, population-based surveillance and research of eligible MDs (DMD, BMD, DM, FSHD, LGMD, CMD, EDMD, OPMD, and Distal MD). The current cycle will focus on identifying eligible MD cases, conducting longitudinal follow-up and research, analyzing data, and publishing and disseminating the results. Current MD STARnet sites will collect data to estimate prevalence and survival and additional clinical data on existing MD cohorts. New MD STARnet sites will focus on identifying eligible MD cases and collecting data to estimate prevalence, survival and track key clinical indicators. Identification of cases through population-based surveillance will enable existing and new sites to conduct research on these populations. This information is expected to advance understanding of diagnosed prevalence, disease progression and survival; clinical care and interventions and their alignment with recommended care; disparities in access to care; the association of treatment with outcomes, and the impact of MD on the lives of affected individuals and their families.

    This notice solicits applications for a new three-year Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) initiative entitled Capacity Building in the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program to Support Innovative Program Model Replication. This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) responds to recent changes in the HIV epidemic and the need to find effective solutions that improve health outcomes along the HIV care continuum for people living with HIV (PLWH). During recent years, a number of innovative interventions have demonstrated effective responses that contribute to ending the HIV epidemic. Ryan White providers who have developed these evidence-informed interventions have produced replication manuals and other tools to assist organizations and jurisdictions interested in adapting and/or replicating such interventions. This NOFO seeks to build the capacity of Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) recipients and subrecipients to replicate effective models of care., with a particular focus on RWHAP jurisdictions identified as disproportionately affected by HIV By building capacity and encouraging the implementation or replication of effective models of care, the RWHAP intends that these jurisdictions will bring recent innovations to scale, thus improving systems of care, reducing health disparities, improving outcomes along the HIV care continuum, and ultimately contributing towards meeting the goals and objectives of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy.

Promoting Adolescent Health through School-Based HIV Prevention - 0 views

    The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) proposes to allocate funds to implement Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) PS18-1807, “Promoting Adolescent Health through School-Based HIV/STD Prevention.” The project period will be 5 years, with a 12-month budget period and an anticipated award date of August 1, 2018. This NOFO will provide support for education agencies and NGOs to help school districts and schools develop and implement sustainable program activities to: 1) Reduce HIV infection and other STDs among adolescents; and 2) Reduce disparities in risk for HIV infection and other STD infection. Throughout the 5-year cooperative agreement, awardees will conduct activities demonstrated to improve the health of middle school and high school students by collection and use of quality surveillance data, the implementation of effective prevention practices, and demonstration and evaluation of innovative strategies within their jurisdictions.

    This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) seeks applications proposing coordinated efforts to accelerate gene discovery for psychiatric disorders in cohorts of African ancestry on the African continent to advance the important goal of global mental health equity. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is one of several FOAs participating in a program called, Ending Disparities in Mental Health (EDIfy-MH ). This FOA should be used when two or more collaborating sites are essential to conduct the proposed research. It is required that the Research Strategy be identical across linked collaborative U01 applications, with the exception of a short section describing the specific function of each application under "elements unique to this site." The Human Subjects section for each application should be specific to the research conducted at that site. For a linked set of collaborative U01 applications, each application must have its own Program Director/Principal Investigator (PD/PI) and the program must provide a mechanism for cross-site coordination. Applications from a single-site should be submitted under the companion FOA (PAR-MH-20-XXX).
