MiamiOH OARS on 19 Dec 12The Center for Retirement Research at Boston College works to promote research on retirement issues, transmit new findings to a broad audience, help train new scholars, and expand access to valuable data resources. The center is accepting applications for two funding opportunities: The Steven H. Sandell Grant Program provides funding opportunities for scholars from all academic disciplines and senior scholars working in a new area to pursue cutting-edge projects having to do with retirement income and disability insurance issues. Junior scholars within the first ten years of their academic career and tenured scholars entering a new field are encouraged to submit a proposal. The principal investigator and co-principal investigator, if applicable, are required to have a Ph.D. or comparable professional certification. Scholars must be employed full-time at an academic or research institution. Grants are not intended to fund dissertation research. Up to five grants of $45,000 will be awarded for projects of one year. The Dissertation Fellowship Program in Retirement Income and Disability Insurance Research provides funding opportunities for doctoral candidates to pursue cutting-edge research on retirement issues. Applicants are required to be enrolled in a qualified doctoral program at a United States university; have completed all coursework for a Ph.D. by the time funding starts; and have a dissertation advisor and/or committee. Doctoral candidates from all academic disciplines are encouraged to submit a proposal. Up to seven fellowships of $28,000 will be awarded. Priority research areas for both programs include Social Security and disability insurance, macroeconomic analyses of Social Security, wealth and retirement income, program interactions, international research, and demographic research.
