Digital Citizenship Education - 0 views

"Program Overview Students interact with music, movies, software, and other digital content every day. Do they understand the rules that dictate the ethical use of these digital files, and do they understand why these issues are relevant? The Digital Citizenship and Creative Content program is a free, turnkey instructional program. The goal is to create an awareness of the rights connected with creative content. Because only through education can students gain an understanding of the relevance of and a personal respect for creative rights and grow to become good digital citizens."

"Shakespeare Vocab using Quizlet - Anyone who has read a Shakespeare play will know that there is some funky vocabulary included. Being able to understand this vocab is pivotal to understanding the text. So, after our introduction I had the students study some commonly misunderstood Shakespearean words on Quizlet. They studied the list and did some flashcards and games, then got together with a partner and completed the test. They had fun and it really helped their understanding of Scene I."

Working with Google Apps on the iPad - 0 views

"My frustration with Google Apps on iPads is well known, so I'm often asked how I go about addressing this given my use of both. Browsers. Browsers. Browsers. I'm constantly searching for browsers that work between the two. The good is that I can usually find one. The bad is that on any given day an update to either Google or the browser app could mean I'm searching again. Even worse, there is always a give and take on what actually works. Right now, the one I've been using most lately both personally and on our pilot iPads is the Rover browser app."

5 Wolfram|Alpha Apps That Are Perfect For The Classroom - 1 views

  •
" think it's pretty safe to say that almost everyone on the Internet these days has heard of Wolfram|Alpha, the "computational knowledge engine". It's a pretty fascinating, not to mention handy, website. You simply type in your query, "population of Argentina in 1980" for example, and Wolfram|Alpha spits out the answer. What could be more awesome?! Well, what if I told you that Wolfram|Alpha also makes desktop PC and mobile applications that, for all of the notoriety that their's websites received, I've hardly ever heard anyone talk about? And what if I told you that most of these apps were specifically designed with certain subjects in mind, such as statistics, geography, and chemistry? I don't know about you, but I'd be intrigued!"

10 Search Engines For Kids - 0 views

"You can say that kids are sufficiently net savvy these days. With a bit of parental help, they can easily grasp the basics of search. The commonplace search engines cater to kids as well as to adults. But even with the moderation search engines use, some content may not be suitable for impressionable minds."
  •
Lots of kid friendly search engines.
