" Video websites for kids is a popular search term on the web. Just as adults have the best of television and the online world when it comes to video, so should our kids. It's just that there content needs to be more strictly moderated and should blend in subjects that are for kids-eyes-only."

10 Video Websites That Are Like YouTube for Kids - 0 views

  •
"The Internet is wonderful for entertainment and interesting content. However, for kids, that entertaining content isn't always appropriate. It's difficult for parents to allow their kids to use YouTube, because it's very hard to filter out the bad content from the good. Luckily, many of the children's sites across the Internet publish their own version of YouTube, dedicated exclusively for kids and no one else. "

10 Search Engines For Kids - 0 views

"You can say that kids are sufficiently net savvy these days. With a bit of parental help, they can easily grasp the basics of search. The commonplace search engines cater to kids as well as to adults. But even with the moderation search engines use, some content may not be suitable for impressionable minds."

There's just so much science, nature, music, arts, technology, storytelling and assorted good stuff out there that my kids (and maybe your kids) haven't seen. It's most likely not stuff that was made for them.

Moving Your Kindergarten into Web 2.0 with 5 Different Tools (by Özge Karaoğl... - 0 views

"Shidonni is a site where students can draw their favorite animal with a world to live in it and see the animal spring to life. Kids take care of their animals by feeding, petting or sending them to sleep. The animal eats the food that kids have drawn for it. They can choose if they want their pet to walk or fly, and they can name it. Kids can draw a background and change it whenever they want. They can play games with their virtual animals or send them to their friends to play with their animals. You can watch this introduction video. This site is great for kindergarten students but I'm sure primary kids will love and enjoy this site too!! This can be a great tool for digital storytelling or describing animals or daily routines."

Writing to Kids...in the Future! - 2 views

  •
Kids are one of the most curious groups of people on this planet. It is that curiosity that allows them to learn and explore by asking questions. Oftentimes kids will ask their parents questions that they just may not know how to give an answer to. From questions like, where are we going on vacation this year? Who will be the President in ten years? Sometimes, it is better to let the kids form their own visions by using their creativity

"Digital Citizenship is being respectful and responsible while on the internet. It can be when you are writing a blog post, or even when you are chatting on a social network. A lot of times when kids are on social networking, kids write mean stuff on the internet where everybody can see. It's easy to say things you don't want to say. It's also trying to keep away from "bad" people. They don't know you and you don't know them, and they might be looking at your page any minute. It's being careful and not sharing personal information such as last names, addresses, phone numbers, and so on to stay safe. These videos can show you how it's like."

iLearn Technology » Blog Archive » Extreme Speed Booking:Using Technology to ... - 0 views

  •
What it is: What makes technology SO great is the way that it can make life (and teaching) more productive and fun. Over the years, I have found so many ways that technology can make reading more rewarding for both kids who love to read, and kids who dread reading. Today, I created an "Extreme Speed Booking" website for @michellek107′s class at Anastasis. I created the site quickly using Weebly, an awesome WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) website editor. Drag and drop website building is where it is at! The idea behind the site is to introduce students to a variety of books and form classroom book groups. How does Extreme Speed Booking work? A whole lot like speed dating. :) Students spend a little time with each book and then rate them accordingly with "I want to read more", "Interesting", "Not for me", or "I've already read". Students can also make a note of how interested they are in reading the book (maybe a 1-10 scale)? This process introduces students to a variety of books, genres and authors. Students may come across titles and authors they wouldn't otherwise find. It also helps teachers form classroom book groups that are of high-interest and investment to students because they had input.

10 Environmental Games That Teach Kids About Earth, Ecology & Conservation - 0 views

  •
"With the right eco-education, we can hope they will hit the ground running. A lot of schools and educational institutions are doing their bit by including the environment as part of the curriculum. Words like 'carbon footprint' and global warming' comes to them as easily as the name of any present-day rock star. That's cool. But who said that ecological or environmental education needs to be bookish or donnish? Thanks to online games, it can be brought out from textbooks into the fun world. Online environmental games games that teach kids about animals and conservation make the task interactive."
