Are Nachos the Secret to a Happy Marriage? - 0 views

Janet, first, welcome to The High Calling. I'm so glad you've joined our blog network. I love the look, writing and theme of your site and will look forward to reading more of it in the days/weeks to come. Second, how fun to read your story! My hubby and I-we've been married 16 years in July-met in a touring group (a 2-year commitment, after which I almost had to be committed!) of young adults, dated on the road, and got married right after the tour ended. We, too, were poor graduate student newlyweds with a roach-infested apt. and a grocery budget that had a huge line item for "PRAY!" I'd love to have coffee sometime and swap ministry-life stories, but since I'm in TX and you're in CA, I guess we'll have to settle for visiting one another's blogs. :) Have a great weekend, and again, thanks for joining THC!

Such a beautiful story. I loved the quote about your prayer being better than a bus ticket. Who knows? This man may have not just been an angel, but the Lord in disguise

  • It’s fun to see the process, Jennifer. I so enjoy my Studio JRU original, hanging over my right shoulder even as I write. May God continue to bless you in your work.

Caroline, I love this! I'm trying to live in the moment, too-embracing every bush that's afire with God. And I'm so, so glad you've joined The High Calling blog network. I can't wait to read more of your excellent writing. I have two boys, adore bacon and avocados (sometimes, on the same sandwich!) and love mission work (it's how I met my husband). Your ministry sounds amazing, and I can't wait to hear more about it as you share your stories and experiences with our bloggers.

What an incredible story of God's protection! I was so struck by the fact that you had the presence of mind, or maybe the Presence of God, to think to pull on the emergency break.  So glad to welcome you to The High Calling!

I was just listening to this song the other day while painting, and it reminded me of the story of the astronaut who requested the song be played on a space shuttle flight. Imagine - God of wonders, beyond our galaxy - and seeing beyond! Welcome to The High Calling!

The quote about Kirk Cameron made me laugh out loud. Thanks for that! :) And thanks for your insights on this subject. I heartily agree that Christians can (and should) do better. I did like Soul Surfer, however. The fact that it was based on a true story helped the believability to me. But I did think that they glossed over the struggle that the surfer-girl went through. It was more a dark minute of the soul. :) Welcome to The High Calling. I can't wait for you to dig in and become acquainted with our wonderful community. I hope you'll do that soon.
