The mouse and keyboard are no longer the only way to input data into computing devices. This trend capitalizes on touch interfaces as made popular by the itouch/ iphone as well as the gesture based interfaces made popular by the Wii. Additionally, sixth sense computing (as seen in Minority Report) is a reality as this has already been invented. Students on the NetGenEd project will use list of tags that bookmark the latest news and information about mobile learning. This is also a great list (compiled from the Horizon Report 2010) for those who specialize in mobile learning.

This tedtalk discusses how Microsoft is building augmented reality into searchable maps and is from Blaise Agüera y Arcas with Microsoft. This software is supposed to transform how we look at digital images. This is fascinating and also a topic that the students of NetGenEd will be reviewing as part of their research into augmented reality.

This is an online slideshow that gives 10 reasons why Open Content is great for teaching and learning. The slideshow is 6 minutes, 42 seconds long and displays pictures that loosely relate to the points.

Open content could become more mainstream in higher education this year. The movement holds great potential for the higher education space where the New Media Consortium (NMC)--which publishes The Horizon Report annually in collaboration with Educause Learning Initiative--identifies it as a trend whose adoption rate will be one year or less.
