On Being Involved with Muslim Academy I am a Roman Catholic born and raised in the beautiful country Philippines. I have been baptized after few months of my birth. I grew up in the South, where the favored punishment for a disobedient child is a spanking. I know that now, especially in America, "spanking" is a charged term that has even become political, so instead of spanking, I'm going to use the more appropriate term, butt-whopping. If you've ever heard stories of kids having to go to a tree to pick their own switch, those stories are true. I can testify. For probably my entire childhood, half the trees in my grandmother's yard had no low-lying limbs, because she used all of them on me. She wasn't afraid to grab me by the ear and haul me out of the church service if I was misbehaving. Not that she was abusive. F

The Prophet told Omar Ebn Al Khattab "go to the leaders of Makkah and tell them that Muslims came for Umrah and not for a war", but Omar Ebn Al Khattab replied "O Prophet, you know I would do anything you say, but you know how much the people of Makkah hate me, so if I entered Makkah, they will kill me instantly and I won't be able to deliver your massage. A young woman from Jewish origins, who was raised in the city of Eilat in the south of the country, and currently lives in Petah Tikva city, converted to Islam, in a court in front of the judge and chose Ellen to be her new name in Islam.
