Muslim Academy on 13 Aug 12The battle of mautah was fought in the fifth of the month of the Islamic calendar in 629. It was fought near the river Jordan at a place near the village named as mautah. According to the Muslim history this was fought to take the retribution from the chief of Ghassanid for killing an emissary and it ended equal for both sides and was a safe retreat for both of them. But according to the Christian history the battle was a victory for the Christians. History and background There was a truce between the Muslims who lived in Medina and the tribe of QURESHIYAETS who belonged to Makah by the treaty of the HUDAIBIYA. Therefore the PROPHET PBUH can freely move to the north area to give the knowledge of Islam to the people over there. The PROPHET PBUH sent the emissaries to the tribes of BANU SULAMAN and other north area and they were killed. Therefore a large Muslim army was raised to take the revenge from the non-Meccan.
