Flat is a cloud-based online music notation software. This is another alternative to Finale Notepad, MuseScore, and Noteflight.

FLAT is essentially Google's attempt at notation software. Thus, it is extremely intuitive. Though more limited than other programs, it essentially does everything a student composer would need. Students can sign up for an account with a Gmail address and can easily share their scores with each other and their teacher.

Music notation softwares like Finale and Sibelius are quite costly for students to purchase and use. Flat.io is a free online music notation software that allows you to notate music online, and share it with your friends in the cloud. It is collaborative in a way that people get to comment on your music, and you also get to comment on other people's compositions. All you need is to sign up with either google, facebook, or with your email address. It is a good resource for teachers to set notation assignments, and while students do the assignments, they learn many concepts in music such as tempo, speed, dynamics, phrasing, structure, to mention but a few.

PBS Kids has a ton of music games great for use with the early elementary level. These games are great to reinforce concepts being taught in the general elementary classroom.

This site has a wide variety of music games for young children. Children can learn about different instruments, create their own digital instrument and play music with and sing along with popular cartoon characters.

Several games that relate to elementary music learning that kids will love to play. These games are perfect as a time filler, or as part of a lesson. These games are best for young (K5-1) students.

Classical Archives is largest classical music site in the world, with access to countless sound files for free in which a teacher can use in the classroom.

As with many sites, this one offers both free and premium accounts. This resource contains thousands of recordings of classical music. Even with a free account, students have access to a large number of recordings (though they are not, as one might say, the authoritative or preeminent performances).

Teachnology is a great source for music lesson plans for all grade levels.

One of the few saxophone specialty shops in the world. They have also branched out into clarinets and other woodwinds. If you are looking to purchase a saxophone, this is the best place to do it.

Saxophone.org is one of the most exhaustive saxophone sites on the internet. It includes the largest online museum of saxophones, mouthpieces, and vintage instrument publications. The forum on the site is one of the largest along with SaxontheWeb, and includes a buy/sell/trade section. Saxquest owns saxophone.org and I had the pleasure of working on the saxophone museum for a number of years.

Musician's way is a website that is useful for both teachers and students alike. The website provides viewers with practice guides and tips, which are ideal for students, and workshops, which would be ideal for educators. Musician's Way is a companion website to the text of the same name written by Gerald Klickstein. The website also has resources for teachers who are looking for inspiration to bring more creativity into their classroom.

This is a supporting website for Gerald Klickstein's book, "The Musician's Way". Resources are organized by category, most of which contain additional reading/links on a topic like practice, creativity, and performance. Additionally, teachers/students can download practice documents for planning, timelines, and developing good practice habits as a musician.

Music Education Works is a website that promotes music as a necessity for all students. The website lists the benefits of music education and provides appropriate learning and scholarly writing that backs music education as a tool for all ages. The website provides information about music in and outside of school. The main goal of the website is to promote and share the benefits of music education.

Natasha Sigmund is a fabulous Music Learning Theory teacher, and she has created a lot of great resources on her TPT store. These are great to use as printables or with a projector/smart board. Her material is accessible and engaging for students of all ages.

DoodleChaos is a YouTube channel that features Line Rider videos, which are fun animations set to classical music. They are a great way to show melodic direction, duration, and expressive elements such as dynamics and tempo.

Dr. Jill Reese is an amazing musician and teacher, and she is also the creator of a very useful YouTube page with tons of ukulele play-a-long videos. She pairs music with chord symbols and indicates when each chord should be played in time with the music.

This is Jen Bailey's TPT store, and it is loaded with amazing material for Music Learning Theory teachers, as well as teachers who follow other methodologies. She has many resources for use with a projector or smart board, and other things that are printable. There are resources for assessment, audiation enhancement, movement, literature, holidays, rhythm games, notation resources, songs, recorder, ukulele, and so much more!

Andy Mullen's website is a gold mine for Music Learning Theory teachers. The Audiation Station provides video lessons to improve audiation tonally and rhythmically. He provides examples of each tonality with theoretical understanding as well as music videos. His explanations of MLT and audiation are straightforward and easy to understand.

From "The Improving Musician", this is a great resource for teachers to reference for each tonality. It provides convenient information on what to chords to use to harmonize while singing songs in all tonalities. It also shows the tonal sequence for each tonality for when you are establishing tonality whilst in verbal association.

This is a web-based game for recorders. Students play recorder, and the sound initiates different actions in the game. It teaches breath control, rhythm, melody, fingerings, technique, and more. Students have a great time progressing through the different levels.

This is Jen Bailey's website. She blogs about relevant topics for the elementary general music teacher. She posts about content and resources that are very useful for K-5 music. She is a talented musician and teacher who identifies strongly with Music Learning Theory.

Hypebot is a website that posts daily about the music industry. This website focuses on the business side of music as well as technology. I believe that this is an insightful resource for students in music industry courses. I also believe that it is interesting for music educators to read about the current events of the music world.
