Classic Cat is a resource website that provides educators and students with access to recordings of multiple classical music works.

ClassicCat is a website featuring free use MP3's of over a hundred different composers. These mp3's are available to anyone who clicks can play the files on their computer. This is a great resource not only for instrumental and choral capabilities, but for general music classes that need material for listening or comparison.

The woodwind fingering guide is the best resource for finding specific fingering charts for every woodwind instrument.  The woodwind fingering guide provides multiple fingerings for every note and specific fingering charts for every instrument relating to alternate fingerings, trill fingerings, and other extended techniques.  This resource is excellent for students who are starting a new instrument or wish to learn new notes.

This site has in depth fingering charts for each woodwind instrument. There are handy trill and tremolo fingerings. Also, there are alternate fingerings when pitch issues need to be corrected. This is not an updated site or pretty by any means, but it gets the job done and is a good resource for instrumental teachers.

This is part of a video series showing beginning instruction on each instrument. This is a great video to share with students (and parents) to help them out in the first few lessons. Some information needs to be explained more completely, but this provides good basic knowledge and helps students remember what was taught during lessons.

This could be good for small ensembles and combos. Creates a melody, harmony, and bass part customized to instrumentation needs. Also provides lyrics.

The Infinite Jukebox may come as somewhat of a revelation. For an introduction, readers may go to the site and click on a few of the popular tunes listed on the homepage. For instance, selecting Superstition by Stevie Wonder kicks off the 1972 hit in the way you've always heard it. But then The Infinite Jukebox takes over, matching beats and rhythmic patterns to create intelligent patterns for where the song can go next. No simple loop here. Instead the song plays for as long as the listener would like, but with seemingly infinite variety. Once users understand the basic principle, they can upload their own MP3s for free and let The Infinite Jukebox reorganize them into epic soundtracks for their working day.

This quirky creation create an infinite musical loop from any song you select - and by infinite I mean never-ending. You can select a track from the site's vast library or upload a song of your own, which the site will analyze and use to create a pattern. This site could be beneficial for use with classical music to make easy background music.

This site has digital and downloadable flash cards for many music topics including note names, key signatures, piano note names, reading guitar notes, intervals, alto and tenor clefs, and triads. Teachers and students can also customize the flashcards for their own needs. It is appropriate for beginners through advanced musicians and the collection is growing every week.

This site provides numerous rhythm and movement activities for young children with the help from rhythm sticks. Such activities help to develop fine motor skills and their sense of rhythm, which will greatly benefit early elementary students, as well as students with special needs.

Vic Firth's education resources include videos on all things percussion related.  There are video and audio clips regarding beginning snare drum/mallets, drum set, rudiments, concert percussion, and marching/world percussion.  This is a great resource for teachers and students.

There are also videos about instrument set up and maintenance. Other information: The resources on this page are geared toward both educator and student. Many of the music reading articles and exercises are also applicable to non-percussionists and can be readily adapted for classroom use.

Aside from quality percussion equipment, Vic Firth provides a wealth of information on percussion education. The site includes videos, articles, and pdf's of exercises as well if needed.

Find resources for action sogs, assessments, holidays, body percussion, seasons, composition, centers, world music, lesson planning, movement and much more!

This app can be used on all devices be cause it is a to do list in the cloud. Add the things you need to keep track of and do for a day or week or even month. Give yourself deadlines and set priority levels. Get the premium version for more advanced options such as collaborations.

Steve Weiss Music is a very good retail percussion website.  Educators can find their percussion needs here quickly and also receive them very quickly.  This company is great to consider for ordering repertoire, sticks and mallets, or large instruments.  Check them out!

All schools need to embrace world music as a means of stopping racism and prejudice!  Also, world music is super fun to teach!

NAfME has provided lesson plan examples for band that implement the new Core Music Standards.  Included is a list of resources of videos, FAQs, workbooks, guides, etc.  You need your NAfME information to access these materials.

Instrument Cleaning and Maintenance Regular cleaning and maintenance is essential to keeping your student's instrument in proper working order. It is recommended to have your instrument inspected and serviced by a repair technician during the Christmas holiday and over the Summer break. The inspection may not result in any work being needed. However, just like an automobile it is recommended that a repair technician perform a tune-up as necessary to keep your instrument in proper working order.

Chrome Music Lab allows students and teachers to connect music with other disciplines such as visual art, math, science, movement, and more. No account needed.

This is similar to the website Choralia in that it offers part rehearsal tracks for choral music, but this website is devoted to large masterworks. This would be best for choirs who need to learn these works of parts thereof for festivals or competitions.

These are short and humorous videos by the folks at Music K-8 that help reinforce a few music concepts. When my younger students have earned a little reward, or when it's flue season and my voice needs a bit of a break, we sometimes take a moment to watch a couple of these concept videos

Educator Ken Thompson describes several views or perspectives on balancing an ensemble. By asserting his opinion as well as that of Francis McBeth, he weighs the pros and cons of some of the most common models, including the "Christmas tree pyramid." In short, Thompson uses SBO Magazine as a means through which to discuss the need for teachers to make balance an integral component of their day-to-day instruction.

Sound trap is an online Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) that one can use to create loops and tracks online. One doesn't need to download any software to install sound trap, it is typically online and is a very good resource for teaching creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking (4 Cs). I like sound trap because it enables students and teachers to continue work anywhere any time (in and outside the classroom). Teachers can easily add projects and invite students to work on the project any time anywhere. The fact that one can invite another person to work on the same project and/or even record a track together is mesmerizing. With sound trap, it is easy to record any instrument, download a track, and best of all, you can record using a microphone and/or use the free loops, MIDI, and effects that come with the software. A school has to purchase the software and add students to start using it. However, the software has a one month free trial which teachers can try out with their students before purchasing.
