Educationdgree.com is a beneficial website for me to share with my students. My program is unique in the sense that we not only teach our students the art of playing the steel drum but we work on molding them in to well-rounded citizens as well. This involves several mandatory workshops and a few are focused on college matriculation and registration. This site has the possibility of helping students come to these workshops with a few choices of colleges and universities in mind.

The College Board's AP Music Theory homepage is an invaluable resource for AP Music Theory test preparation. It contains resources for both teachers and students, including descriptions of the course, articles about teaching AP Music Theory, score reports, and a listing of professional development opportunities and seminars. Most importantly, it contains an archive of past free-response test questions (including both harmonic and melodic dictations) and sight-singing examples, along with (scored and annotated) example responses.

The Sax on the Web website contains valuable articles, transcriptions, and resources for all musicians including saxophonists.  The most popular aspect of this site is the forum.  The forum contains transcriptions, member compositions, insight on equipment, and many other discussion topics.  The forum marketplace allows users to list instruments and equipment for sale, allowing members to contact each other to purchase items.  Many college saxophone professors belong to this page and provide answers to user questions and valuable articles.  This is a great resource for all students, although the focus is on saxophone and other woodwinds.

Sax on the Web is one of the largest saxophone sites on the internet. The site includes one of the largest saxophone forums, with contributions from big names in saxophone. The forum also includes a buy/sell/trade section. There are many articles pertaining to saxophone included on the website.

This is the Nazareth College Department of Music homepage. From here, one can access all of the undergraduate and graduate degree program offerings, see the schedule of concert and events for performing ensembles and the various community events and partnerships in the Rochester area.

This is a wonderful string specific blog that has information for beginniners up through making that audition for college. It has advice to help educators with their classes as well as players make the most of their performance.

Another helpful site for when you have to write a musical critique. I especially like there "SHMRG" acrostic: Sound, Harmony, Melody, Rhythm and Growth (texture/formal structure) Good for students when evaluating a musical performance.

This informative Edutopia article by blogger and professor Karin Nolan encourages educators about the simplicity about integrating their current teaching approach and curriculum structure with a standards-based curriculum. You do not have be a musician to satisfy the standards either.

This is an excellent resource for music educators interested in learning new ways to teach general music classes, specifically music appreciation at the high school or college level. The site contains several blog entries as well as a few interesting lesson plans that provide examples of innovative teaching.

This page has posted audio files of all of the North Carolina All-State Solos each year. It is updated each fall to provide the appropriate solo for students and teachers to listen to for reference. By looking at the All-State Solo List linked on this page, a teacher can find the name of each solo and use these resources for music listening projects, or modeling examples.
