GoNoodle is an interactive website that offers activity songs for different classrooms. The videos can be used as brain breaks, but it also has songs that could be use in cross-curricular settings (English, history, etc).

This is a podcast that breaks down popular music and digs deep into the theory and make up of those songs. Music educators can use this as a resource for listening guides to direct discussion and listening response for students.

Music Theory is a topic that can often be confusing when beginning to learn.  This website does a great job of breaking down the elements of music theory for anyone who is trying to gain deeper understanding of Music Theory.

This website is great for quick music theory handouts for students. It contains PDF worksheets to print and share with students. Excellent free resource!

Leaffcutter John is a ground breaking artist who experiments with electronics and music. He is in the line between a pop electronic composer and an avant garde electronic composer. Not formally trained in music (he has a degree in arts), he sought the possibilities of computers to produce multimedia art. I copied one of his successful gadgets which has 16 photocells that interact with a music software (Max/Msp).

This site has many beneficial elements to it. There are resources for teachers (including worksheets, drills, and games for students), video lessons, and even music-related quotes. It looks like a great place to share with others and get some great ideas.

This website contains a huge variety of resources for music teachers of all levels. From printable worksheets to posters and lesson ideas, this website has it all. This website even contains tips for classroom management and app ideas.

Great website for resources, especially for elementary education. Has a category list that breaks everything down easily, and also works well with Pinterest.

Vic Firth's education resources include videos on all things percussion related.  There are video and audio clips regarding beginning snare drum/mallets, drum set, rudiments, concert percussion, and marching/world percussion.  This is a great resource for teachers and students.

Purpose of this resource: This website contains many educational videos, articles, and resources for educators and students about percussion playing technique and history. Musical Content: The Vic Firth Educator page contains fundamental playing technique for snare drum, keyboard percussion and drum set as well as demonstration videos, articles, and sequential playing exercises. There are also videos about instrument set up and maintenance. Other information: The resources on this page are geared toward both educator and student. Many of the music reading articles and exercises are also applicable to non-percussionists and can be readily adapted for classroom use.

Aside from quality percussion equipment, Vic Firth provides a wealth of information on percussion education. The site includes videos, articles, and pdf's of exercises as well if needed.  

Instrument Cleaning and Maintenance Regular cleaning and maintenance is essential to keeping your student's instrument in proper working order. It is recommended to have your instrument inspected and serviced by a repair technician during the Christmas holiday and over the Summer break. The inspection may not result in any work being needed. However, just like an automobile it is recommended that a repair technician perform a tune-up as necessary to keep your instrument in proper working order.

These are short and humorous videos by the folks at Music K-8 that help reinforce a few music concepts. When my younger students have earned a little reward, or when it's flue season and my voice needs a bit of a break, we sometimes take a moment to watch a couple of these concept videos

This is a great resource for any percussionist looking to improve or refine their rudiments. Vic Firth has put together a website that includes demonstration videos, play-along tracks at different tempi, and lessons for each rudiment. As a non-percussionist, this website helps my percussionists with rudiments more than I can.

This link is the Vic Firth page over the 40 Essential Rudiments for snare drum. Vic Firth is a fantastic resource for anything percussion, but their rudiment page is my favorite because it breaks down each rudiment for the students and they demonstrate each rudiment open-closed-open. This is a great resource to to send with students so they are sure to practice rudiments correctly on their own.

This is a timer for getting work done. You can schedule how often you get breaks. The implications for school include pacing rehearsals and practice sessions.

Improvisation in Early Elementary General Music. This article explores how to improvise with your young students, starting with rhythm and then moving on to pitch. There are several singing games referenced with explanations on how to play and how to relate it to improvisation. This article breaks down the process of teaching improvisation and takes the initial fear out of it.

This website is a great resource for K-5 music.  There are jokes, games, and information regarding famous composers, including recordings of famous pieces of music.  This can be used by a classroom of kids in a computer lab, or by a teacher for lesson planning.

Classics for Kids is a resources for teachers, parents, and children. It provides lesson plans, music games and interactive links, a podcast, tips for parents, and information about composers, instruments, and music history. The lesson plans (written by my former music education professor, Dr. Kay Edwards) are standards-based and incorporate elements of Orff, Kodaly, and Dalcroze.
