Kevin Olusola - YouTube - 0 views

  •
Kevin Olusola is a cellist who also beatboxes while playing. He is also in the a capella group Pentatonix. His videos are entertaining and musically stimulating. He not only performs his own compositions, but he also creates mash-ups of pop tunes...often performed in a classical style. He bridges the gap between classical and pop music, demonstrating incredible instrumental technique and culturally relevant material...all while beatboxing!

Royalty free music recordings - 0 views

  •
What a great resource site for music recordings! Our student computers block YouTube, thus this site will be great for my students who wish to research and listen to new music. Currently, a second grade "reading" group will be writing biographies of composers, and I want them to be able to listen to their compositions.

Learn Jazz Standards - The Ultimate Jazz Musician Resource - 0 views

  •
Learn Jazz Standards is an online jazz resource for musicians. We specialize in helping musicians learn jazz repertoire and become better jazz players. The Learn Jazz Standards website has two main components: the Blog and our Jazz Standards.
  •
This is the hub for the Learn Jazz Standards podcasts and YouTube videos. This is a great resource for learning jazz theory, ear training and approaches to improvisation.
  •
The Learn Jazz Standards website contains a comprehensive list of jazz standards, including lead sheets (in different transposing keys), essential and/or original recordings, and a recording of a rhythm section playing through the chord changes several times (a la Jamey Abersold). Often, these "jazz minus one" rhythm section recordings are offered in a few different keys. The site also includes a blog, podcast, and a list of articles on the topic of jazz. This resource is especially helpful for melodic instrument jazz players, giving them practice with chord changes, and I use this site frequently in my jazz classes.

The Recording Revolution blog and joint YouTube account, are great resources for teachers who are introducing the concept of mixing to students. The blogs cover a wide range of FAQ from beginners and feature videos that use Pro Tools as the DAW, but can be applied to any DAW that has comparable plugins and effects.
  •
Blog for home studio recording by Graham Cochrane. Graham provides excellent posts as well as videos on music production, engineering, recording, and mixing that are geared to home studio enthusiasts but would be a great resource for high school music technology courses as well.
