MusicTheory.net is a great website to teach theory to students. It has lessons on a variety of topics, interactive exercises to support the theory topics, and tools that could be used in conjunction with other activities in the classroom. There are also apps available for devices. The best part is that the exercises can be customized (scroll down to the bottom of the exercise or tools pages) with a permanent link so that students can take quizzes or have additional practice for specifics without having to change the settings for themselves. For example, note identification can be customized to the clef and range of a specific instrument and sent to those students for practice or quizzes.

Digital audio workstation software for PC (or Mac with Bootcamp). The software comes in three versions: Home Studio, Recording Studio, and Pro Studio, each with increasing features. The DAW supports MIDI, digital audio and video, and has integrated VST and loop libraries. These products are highly rated in online reviews and comparisons, mainly for their combination of low cost, full features, and ease of use. The website also features a library of training videos for Mixcarft. Topics cover topics including basic software and hardware setup, virtual instruments and plugins, and software functions.

Pro Tools is a professional level digital audio workstation. It is used in many professional recording studios and music production facilities. Pro Tools is often praised for its near-limitless capabilities, but its high cost and memory and processing requirements may make it difficult to use for teachers or hobbyists with lesser computer systems. Avid offers different versions of the software that ranges from the free, limited capability Pro Tools "First" to the full-featured Pro Tools Ultimate, which is designed for professional recording and processing. The free version, Pro Tools First is an excellent way for new users to try out professional DAW software without making a large financial commitment.

Being a first-year teacher is, as I'm sure we all know, daunting and overwhelming, especially for those of us who seek to be the best that we can be for our students. Nonetheless, educator Jim Matthews provides his audience with a concise list of eight habits exhibited by several highly effective band directors, which includes but is not limited to having ensembles play long tones, engage in breathing exercises, and participate in warm-up routines that are both effective and efficient. The Recording Revolution blog and joint YouTube account, are great resources for teachers who are introducing the concept of mixing to students. The blogs cover a wide range of FAQ from beginners and feature videos that use Pro Tools as the DAW, but can be applied to any DAW that has comparable plugins and effects.

Blog for home studio recording by Graham Cochrane. Graham provides excellent posts as well as videos on music production, engineering, recording, and mixing that are geared to home studio enthusiasts but would be a great resource for high school music technology courses as well.

A fun resource for use with any age group working on intervals. Allows you to generate a list of songs kids will already know for target interval listening.

This site is a fun way to get students to start listening for specific intervals! It is loaded with different song examples for each interval. This can help students develop their ear training skills.

Interval Song Chart Generator is a listing of intervals and includes various songs which represent the interval. Simply select a song for each descending and ascending interval. Videos accompany the example, however, you can easily make it into an aural example. Once you select your song choices, then you can generate your own list and print it out. You can even submit your own songs to the forum. This is a very useful resource for ear training and specifically helpful for choirs.

It is a great resource for teachers who want to learn about music apps before purchasing them. Having so many comprehensive reviews in one location makes it very easy for teachers to search and discover apps that fit their needs.

This website provides information and interactive activities that focus on the study of sound. Activities include building a soundscape, exploring sound from around the world using an interactive map, and creating using a computer-generated sound mixer. The production of animal sounds and frequencies are also explored. A study of how animal sounds have influenced music and musicians is investigated.

This is a website from PBS that chronicles the evolution of music recording from the phonograph to iTunes. As you read through the different stages of music production, there are interesting facets of information regarding the progression of copyright laws.

Resource for band directors 

Banddirector.com offers a multitude of resources for instrumental educators. Band directors can contribute articles on various topics including fund raising, trips, and marching drill. The forums on this website allow educators to share best practices across multiple settings. This website would be most useful for instrumental educators. 

This website is a fantastic resource for band directors. Their are resources for marching, travel, fundraising, conducting, and product comparisons just to name a few. This site has just about anything a band director will ever need.

This website is an experiment in sound production. The different sounds are made to look like organisms swimming around. The composer creates music with their ear, not notation.

30 Writing Prompts with a Music Theme. This could be a great way to incorporate Common Core writing standards into the music classroom. An added plus would be to use it to help students respond to music.

Low cost already-made journal for kindergarteners related to their music activities. Features many important musical concepts that I want to implement. This website has tons of great other types of pre-made worksheets for use in classrooms.

This is a simple online metronome tool that can be used in a pinch during practice. The makers of this website are also currently working on a database where musicians can share practice tips.

This is a website to use with elementary students for teaching about the components of an opera. Hansel and Gretel is sung in English and students are able to interact and make decisions about the production.

This is an online interactive game for EVERYONE! Students are presented the chance to design their own opera, embark with interactive chamber music, access music resources, and even engage the entire family with a family listening activity.

A tremendous resource for creating performing, understanding and responding to music with an iPad. Also, there are links for general administrative and productivity apps which are useful for other academic disciplines.  Additionally, there is a lot of information that is useful about hardware and connecting the iPhone/iPod touch/iPad. Great resource for using iPads in the music classroom, which is what is needed for me personally.
