This website has some fantastic options for teaching students about music from around the world.  It also gives them a chance to explore different cultures and different ways of life than they are used to.  I like to use these sort of lessons in conjunction with Google Maps Street View where you can go and explore the area you are learning about on the computer.

I found this to be a very interesting read/listen. She discusses how to foster creativity in the classrooms. In music, composing is an essential skill and the ultimate creative activity. However, I find myself sometimes nervous to let the kids compose. What if they are not successful? What if they talk too much or get too loud? But Goodwin really gives me the courage to start small and grow from there. It's not about having the kids write a symphony, but to show what they learned by creating something new.

This is a great site for people of all ages who want to learn about and practice music theory.

Part of the Resources for Early Childhood, the sound project is one of many resources for early childhood teaching and learning included in this website. The sound project was conduced by Ohio educators with 18 to 30 month children on sound exploration.

The San Francisco Kids website offers students many musical activities from listening, performing, composing and even conducting. I think that my elementary music students would love this site, and that it would also work well on the SMARTboard in class. I think the visuals would keep students engaged, and excited about music learning.

This YouTube Channel is dedicated to jazz music education, sponsored by Jazz at Lincoln Center. It is filled with videos about jazz pedagogy and heritage. This is a great site for music educators to keep their jazz education up-to-date, and for students who have an interest in jazz music. Students are able to take video lessons or learn about different styles and composers of jazz. What a great resource about America's own style of music.

The ISME website is to give readers a better understanding of music communities, build rapport among musicians, and enhance the learning curve for teachers and students. This site has a mission to integrate musical learning into all school systems and cultures to build a stronger body of music educators in the world. This website includes news and articles that pertain to the advocacy of education arts, the development of small groups of educators, and music therapy and technology. It also includes world music educators news and conferences around the globe.

The ISME webpage is useful for educators who teach outside the country or move around a lot. It is a great source for conferences and professional development opportunities. Check out the news area too, lots of great information on advocacy and advancement!

This YouTube channel has many great videos about music history and theory. These short videos provide an excellent way to help students learn using multi-media, appealing to the visual learner.

This is a podcast designed to help piano teachers of all experience levels. They discuss different teaching techniques, studio information, practice ideas, and other helpful information. This can be used by piano teachers to enhance their teaching knowledge and learn ways so successfully run their piano studio.

Another great website for teaching music. There are many interactive games, some great videos about composers in the time machine, and tools to help kids compose and improvise together.

Quaver's Marvelous World of Music is an interactive music education curriculum and program that integrates, what students love: technology and fun! The host of the video episodes, "Quaver" makes music learning fun and memorable. There are free parts of the program as well as extensive paid sections. If you teach in SC, this is a service paid for by the state. Contact Buz at Quaver Music for your log-in information.

Easy songs and dances to learn within one class session. I will use these to teach movement through music and vocal technique. 

This is a site to promote iPad app for music learning. The cost of each app is only $.99, therefore making them easily accessible to musicians.

The Choristers Guild foundation promotes the music and spiritual development of young singers. I am interested in learning more about the organization. Members have access to online tutorial teaching videos, skype lessons, and monthly jounral subscriptions. Benefits of membership also include discounted rates on ordering music. This looks like a wonderful organization that would be beneficial to a choral educator.

TI:ME is a wonderful resource to learn about how to implement technology into music teaching and learning. Users can browse blogs, new stories, and articles that demonstrate technology's use in the music classroom.
