Canto Alegre is a cultural corporation in Colombia that promotes children music. Canto Alegre brings together children and young instrumentalist to sing and play music together. Since music is for everyone, you can download the songs for free. The songs are mostly in spanish. Teachers that work in a multicultural environment can learn and adapt the songs.

Excellent tool for percussionists to HEAR what the 40 essential rudiments are supposed to sound like and gives a very good methodology for practicing them slowly and gradually improving. The one downside (and it is significant in my philosophy) is that many of the illustrations use traditional grip, whereas I teach only match grip.

This page is a one stop shop for all snare drum rudiments. Each rudiment has a video showing the proper technique. In addition, there is a written out version of each rudiment as well as different tempi with which it can be practiced. This is a great resource to share with all percussion students, especially those preparing for auditions.

Great website for teachers who are not percussionist. Rudiments are hard for anyone to memorize if you are not using them everyday. This site is also great for students who are still learning rudiments. One can easily click on a rudiment and can hear what it is supposed to sound like at different tempos, and what it looks like in standard notation.

This is an excellent resource for piano teachers. There are articles about books to read, piano pedagogy, studio management, and other pertinent topics for piano teachers. This would be a very useful resource for teachers of all experience levels to learn more about how to fine tune their teaching.

Smithsonian Folkways provides free lesson plans, activities and classroom resources on world music. The lessons can be downloaded in PDF format. The web page offers interactive features for students to learn about other music cultures and heritage.

This is a site where students can hear radio shows from the station of the same name as the site, hear instruments demonstrations, play musical games, and review terms from a musical dictionary. Teachers can also benefit from this site by taking advantage of its lesson plans and other teaching resources.

Great website for elementary music class. Easy to understand composer biographies, good music, fun games and a wonderful way to access classical music information.

Classics for Kids is a site that allows children to further learn about composers, music, play games that reinforce rhythms, note names, and improvisation.

Eric Litwin is an author, musician and producer who specializes in children's music. He is one of my favorite artists for kids. He has many educational resources and a curriculum for preschool children. His books featuring Pete the Cat are awesome and appear regularly in my music room! Eric Litwin also does performances in schools and communities and has visited my school for his "Earth Shaking, CD Making" project where my students learned songs and recorded them to make their own CD.

Sonja, an app available in the app store, lets you read, write, record, and edit music hassle free. It' serves as a great educational tool for singers and musicians that lets you play or sing along with other app users. You also have the ability to import MIDI and audio files as well.

This resource provides information for anyone who plays or teaches the french horn. You can subscribe to their publication - The Horn Call. This is a great resource for all teachers to learn more about the horn and for all horn students to be a member of.

A tremendous resource for creating performing, understanding and responding to music with an iPad. Also, there are links for general administrative and productivity apps which are useful for other academic disciplines.  Additionally, there is a lot of information that is useful about hardware and connecting the iPhone/iPod touch/iPad. Great resource for using iPads in the music classroom, which is what is needed for me personally.

These apps can provide ways to create music and transform the Ipad into an actual musical instrument. The Library of Congress has a plethora of information and media related to music education. Within the archives of the Library of Congress are recordings of folk songs, articles about music in America, and podcasts. One of these podcast collections is about Music and the Brain where research related to music and how it affects the brain is reviewed and discussed. This is an excellent resource for music advocacy. It is also a great resource for better understanding music learning.

Interactive website where students can learn about composers in the gallery, identify the sounds of the instruments in a music match game, organize the instruments by family and even create instruments with recycled materials. Students can also meet the musicians of the New York Philharmonic and hear the instrument they play.

Awesome collection of jazz transcriptions. Students can learn solos played by great jazz musicians.
