This modest but interesting site traces the history of rock music by decade, from its roots in the African American Rhythm and Blues to the grunge craze of the 1990s. Along the way, readers can glean interesting tidbits (did you know that the term "rock and roll" was coined by Cleveland disc jockey Alan Freed?) from well-constructed essays, and view classic photos of rockers across the generations.

For my History of Rock and Roll class! This is a great website with a detailed timeline of Rock music. This can be easy to add to the classroom or give to the students for resources.

This website would be a useful resource for history facts about composers form multiple musical periods. This is a great interactive and multimedia resource for teachers from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum's website.  The beta Digital Classroom begins with the 1950s.  Different artists are highlighted from the 1950s, each with a bio, authentic performance video, "why it matters" section and lesson objectives that highlight important musical aspects of the artist.

Resource for students of jazz standards, including information about theory and history

A youtube channel that focuses on providing short lessons on jazz history/tradition, instrumental technique, and the jazz language.

This YouTube channel is a great resources for jazz educators in both a private and ensemble setting. The videos cover the whole jazz orchestra, providing videos of technique as well as ways to develop students' improvisational skills.

Jazz Academy is a YouTube library with free lessons on jazz for educators and students. Lessons range from the instrument specific techniques, jazz history, master classes with professional musicians, and lessons on different styles of music. From these videos, students receive important information from professional jazz musicians. As a jazz educator, there are also videos that improve my understanding of specific techniques and styles.

Cello Online is a website with specific help for cello students. The website contains sheet music for students to download and play. The sheet music also has accompaniment for students to play along with. The website also contains fingering charts for cellists, technique information, information on how to care for the cello, information on the history of the cello and a page for Christmas music.

It also has free sheet music for the cello and exercises specifically for the cello. Finally, it offers a string class that discusses string music throughout history. It is a similar structure to Viola Online, with slight variations in what is offered for the instrument. There is also a link to a store for all these websites for purchases for the instruments.

Included in some of the links are resources that include games, aural training, music theory/history, composition, music technology, and audit/video about performances. This is a motivating site for learners to engage in a variety of activities.
