Beginning Band Engagement (band director chat room): I utilize this resource very frequently to connect with other music educators. With this resource, band directors can get extremely helpful advice from a pool of thousands of fellow band teachers.

After reading about this in chapter 5 this week, I want to use this project with my students.  They can create this page for a composer and include pictures, quotes, his/her contemporaries and recordings.

This website allows users to create fake facebook profiles. This is a great tool to get students interested in sharing information they have learned about historical figures. This site could be used to share information on composers, choreographers, musicians, etc. There is also a database of profiles of various figures throughout history.

This website would be a useful resource for history facts about composers form multiple musical periods. The website also offers information about prominent and lesser known composers from several countries. YouTube inks are often provided for a listening example of each composer's work.

JazzWax is a daily-updated blog by the WSJ writer/contributor Marc Myers. There is a wide array of jazz that gets presented here, along with other styles and sometimes some pop-culture posts. There are always youtube links to audio examples of the artists he profiles, a great resource.

Jazz History Online is committed to covering the finest in jazz history past and present. All of the writers are also working jazz musicians, and use their experience to discuss jazz in a manner that is accessible to both musicians and laymen.

Blog dedicated to analyzing jazz and the pioneers that established the art.  Provided with rich historical context and a wealth of pictures, this could be used really well with a high-level jazz course.

ClassDojo is a classroom management website that allows the teacher to create a profile for each student to give them positive and negative feedback on behavior. Parents can log in at any time to see how their students are doing in class!

Excellent tool to use, especially when classroom teachers are already using it. It is like a FaceBook page for your class. You can easily message parents, post videos and updates, and keep track of behavior (positive and negative).

This blog is provides a updates on current trends in music education technology. Posts also include ideas on curriculum and additional professional resources for teachers.

This website has a collection of information about teaching music with technology to the students not involved in traditional ensembles. It has profiles of programs in schools, articles, and research about reaching the other 80% of secondary students.
