Yesterday Reddit reported, via Twitter, that in August the average time spent per visit was 17:29 minutes. The month also closed with a shipping 3.4 billion page views and 42.9 million uniques. Impressive, eh?
While the 17:29 minute figure is only a one second increase from 17:28 in July, the page views and uniques saw a significant jump. In July Reddit reported 3.1 billion page views and 39.5 million users."
Reddit experimenting with web programming by releasing an original video series called 'Explain Like I'm Five.' The three episodes draw inspiration from the subReddit of the same name, where users discuss complex political and social issues in a simplified manner.
Reddit is now making a concerted effort to court top brand-name consumer advertisers by weaving them into original video programming. This comes as it aims to broaden its appeal beyond its huge core tech-savvy community.

"Ingress, the Alternate/Augmented Reality (AR) game from Google's Niantic Labs, is a major evolution of mobile gaming. Apparently, it's also a good way to get arrested.
According to a post on Reddit (I know, I know - but stay with me on this), an Ingress player in Ohio was detained by police for his in-game actions. Specifically, he was "hacking a portal" near a police station. His phone had technical difficulties, which led him to linger by the portal/police station for a bit, catching the eye of local law enforcement and leading to the detention.
After the original post, other Ingress players responded with similar stories. One aroused suspicions by wandering around an empty parking lot at night. Another, trying to hack a portal next to an air traffic control station, had to run from the local sheriff. A third was called in for questioning after hacking a portal outside of a "high-traffic drug area.""
The average Redditor is a 20-something, college-educated male who earns between $25,000 and $50,000 per year. Redditors are internet savvy, typically liberal, and will reject anything overtly solicitous.
