Adidas sees huge spike in social TV activity from commercial - Lost Remote - 0 views

  •
""Adidas received the largest week-over-week percent change (+354%), according to Bluefin. "This could be due to the number of ad airings they had this week - 123 airings of 3 creatives - vs last week, when they only had 23 ad airings," they further explained. "114 of the airings this week were of the new Adidas Basketball D Rose commercial," leveraging a celeb for social TV chatter. Here's further commentary from Bluefin and the commercial chart. The top 3 most tweeted-about brands were Subway (5.5K), the movie Paranormal Activity 4 (4.4K), and Adidas (4.3K). As we already know, celebrity figures help build social TV buzz, and sports is no exception. 63.4% of the comments about Adidas mentioned the D Rose commercial. Here's one example tweet. You may have noticed that Old Navy, the #1 brand on last week's chart, isn't on this list at all. As mentioned in last week's post, Old Navy had run two musically-themed creatives a total of 394 times. This week, Old Navy only ran one creative, but it aired a whopping 625 times. The big drop in conversation may be due to "ad-wear," when viewers get tired of seeing the same commercial over and over. Also, the Old Navy commercial that ran this week featured musician Justin Guarini. The bulk of last week's conversation was actually about the other commercial, featuring the Backstreet Boys. Subway was not tracked last week, so there is no week-over-week percent change."

Marketers Warn Against Facebook Fatigue | ClickZ - 0 views

  •
Facebook "has become the default tool for lazy marketers who really don't know what to do," he said, recalling the days when businesses bought IBM computers because they were a safe bet. "No one got fired for buying IBM. Today's equivalent is no one gets fired for marketing on Facebook," he said. As a result, some brands are pursuing "me-too marketing" on Facebook instead of developing marketing strategies. He pointed to a Business Insider article headlined, "P&G To Lay Off 1,600 After Discovering It's Free To Advertise On Facebook," as an example of a brand potentially using Facebook as a "default" marketing strategy.

ZipList's everywhere recipe box lures 1 million cooks - 0 views

  •
ZipList (Igrocery list and recipe service) not only had to face off against a growing number of recipe aggregation and shopping services, like Paprika, Yummly and Grocery IQ, but also found it couldn't compete for attention against entrenched cooking brands on the Web, such as the Food Network and Epicurious. So ZipList changed tack. Last summer it began partnering with big food brands MarthaStewart.com and the Daily Meal, as well as small food blogs that began integrating the ZipList recipe box directly into their sites. The results were impressive: In nine months it signed up 120 big-name food sites and 6,500 small blogs, which in turn generated 1 million customer accounts for its digital recipe and shopping list service.

Digital Agency Launches Tumblr Commerce Service for Brands | Digital - Advertising Age - 0 views

  • Mr. Coe says the agency's Tumblr commerce platform has two service levels: one designed for small businesses and the other for brands. For the former, Coexist and Stripe would take a roughly 6% cut of sales transacted through the platform, but the service would be free to use. In the case of brands, he's envisioning something more custom where Coexist might develop a Tumblr blog for an event like Fashion Week and then power a pop-up store where Tumblr followers could buy limited-edition goods that had been unveiled that week. The service's first taker is Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, which has 10 stores in Ohio and Tennessee and sells to wholesalers like Dean & Deluca and Whole Foods but shipped more than $1 million of product through its website last year. Its Tumblr account launched last week, and items for sale are marked with a yellow dot, including a $32 ice-cream-sandwich collection.

Introducing Flock - Bump Blog - 0 views

  •
Flock is not just a brand new app; we see it as a brand new *kind* of app.  While most apps today jockey for our ever-dwindling time and attention, attempting to become one of the apps that we think about the most, Flock is different.  We designed Flock so you don't have to think about it at all.  You just live your life like you already do.  Spend time with your friends and family; take photos with whatever camera app you prefer.  There's no work for you at all, really.  Flock uses new battery-friendly location technology and sophisticated algorithms to magically know which of your Facebook friends you are with when photos are taken.  After you leave your group hike, or the night out on the town, or Thanksgiving dinner, Flock will check if anyone wants to share the photos they took and then bring those photos together into a single group album for everyone to enjoy.  And because most photos taken by iOS devices are geotagged, Flock can even work backwards in time from before you installed the app!  So if you and your friends and family install the app today, you'll likely unlock lost memories that were trapped on each other's phones for years.

AOL Banks on Ad Market Rationality to Drive Revenues | ClickZ - 0 views

  •
But it's AOL's own properties the company aims to build up as a go-to premium buy for brand advertisers. Display revenue on AOL properties grew by 2 percent. The company is betting on premium ad formats such as its rich-media laden Project Devil units to entice brands to spend more. AOL reported that more than half of the advertisers who bought the ads in Q1 re-upped this past quarter. Armstrong admitted that last year the company's focus was not data-driven, and stressed the firm's renewed mission to ensure that data - meaning results-related numbers proving the value of buying AOL's ad products - is at the heart of its sales approach. People cannot leave the building without data, said Armstrong. Mobile and video ad revenue are key to future growth for AOL, said Armstrong, who said that last summer 75 percent of insertion orders included both platforms. Today, it's close to 100 percent, he said. The company reported that videos, video views, and video revenue rose at double-digit rates, though it did not break out revenues for video advertising.
