Microsoft will roll out the new music streaming service to many customers on Tuesday as part of an update to the Xbox gaming console he service will let users stream more than 30 million tracks worldwide across Microsoft's ecosystem of Windows 8 mobile devices and PCs, as well as the Xbox. Think of it as Microsoft's in-house version of Spotify.

This morning at Hulu's Upfront presentations in New York, the streaming service announced it has grown its subscriber base 30 percent year-over-year, and will reach 12 million subscribers in the U.S. this month. For comparison's sake, last year it had grown to 9 million subscribers after seeing a 50 percent increase over the year prior. Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins also said that hours per viewer was up 30 percent, and total streams were up 78 percent.

"AOL will launch an ad-supported streaming movies section next Tuesday, April 30th, initially featuring "tens of films" from Miramax, the studio behind breakout pictures including Pulp Fiction, Good Will Hunting, and There Will Be Blood, among many others. The film selection will rotate on a monthly basis, and the initial movies haven't yet been announced. After all three finish shooting and uploading their footage to Vyclone's servers, the app algorithmically cuts and edits a video using the four (or fewer) different video streams, creating one supercut out of all the footage. The app figures out who was shooting at that moment using GPS location data, and automatically includes those streams of footage into the cut.

YouTube Gaming is due to launch today. The service is YouTube's answer to Twitch and is designed primarily to support video game streaming, as well as providing a dedicated interface for people to browse and watch videos of games.

I might be late to the game here, but this is an interesting idea (and it sounds like the millenial consumer base they're looking to target is lapping it up- T-Mobile says its customers have streamed nearly 7,000 terabytes of music - and 5 million more songs per day than before the launch of Music Freedom).

Live-streaming platform Twitch is playing a big part, hosting a day-long event on Twitch's Pokemon stream honoring the game this weekend, along with a 24-hour mega-marathon of highlights from the game's anime companion.

At long last, iOS users can tap into YouTube's live video streams, thanks to an update pushed out to the app yesterday. 

The centerpiece is "The Million Second Quiz," NBC's new live competition series.
