Leap Motion, an $80 device that turns any computer into the one from Minority Report. The iPod Mini-sized controller sits in front of the keyboard and reads three dimensional hand motions, allowing the user to interact with the screen without touching it. (The user's hands have to remain with an 8-cubic-foot area.) Unlike some previous attempts at no-touch interaction, Leap Motion doesn't require the user to learn artificial movements.

The remote control must die; but what's next? One company at the apex of that question is Philips, which, unbeknownst to many onlookers, already makes remote controls for an array of TV makers, set-top box vendors and pay-TV operators like BSkyB. Philips now offers its own Wiimote-like gesture stick to screen makers like HP; (NYSE: HPQ) a motion-sensitive, qwerty-equipped uWand; candybars with integrated laptop trackpads and, yes, plain 'ol candybars for internet TV operators who still want them. All of this means the TV input segment is about to embark upon the same kind of innovative period of disruption and competing standards that the TV space is now wrestling with and which the internet itself before it first unleashed.

AppleTV gunning for Xbox/GoogleTV as box of choice. I like the idea of a gesture/voice/apple remote system and the xbox controller/gesture/voice over google's giant remote approach.

Essentially, we believe the "mini iTV" screens will be able to capture content from the 60-inch "iTV" across a distance of up to 200 meters, allowing a user to view "iTV" content in the kitchen, washroom, garage, bedroom, backyard, etc. We believe Apple will offer one "mini iTV" per "iTV" but package options will include up to four screens (i.e., one screen is part of the standard package and pay extra for each additional).
