New mobility in PC - 9 views

I think there are companies like citrix, vmware that are working on it but I am not sure if anything has been done on the User Interface part of it.

Hi all, This article is a nice follow-on to a discussion we had (I believe in section 2). Imagine the possibilities!

http://www.economist.com/news/science-and-technology/21576626-additive-manufacturing-growing-apace-china-new-brick-great-wall The economist has been quite excited about this technology - however, it has rightly tempered expectations by saying for a consumer, the benefit, at best will be only marginal since this will only lessen the cost of the prototype/time taken to build one. I am still not that excited but I am not an industrial designer and neither is Jonathan Ive/Chris Bangle my name !

This can change the way our traditional education works. It can be a good tool to increase creativity in school kids. The technology will evolve to make the design process really easy to use.

There is a lot going on in the 3D Printing world. I have seen this documentary ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DconsfGsXyA ) that shows a different way on how this new technology is being used. Technologies are advancing and will trigger important discussions on regulation.

Stefan great documentary. Scary. I can't believe this actually exists already. These guy's webpage is also interesting. It's incredible how they name themselves a non-profit organization that is defending civil liberty rights by building firearms. http://defdist.org/about-us/

The firearms application is crazy, agreed. Plastic guns made through 3D printing technology are able to get through most airport security scanners. What I find the most interesting about 3D printing, however, is the application that this technology can have in the healthcare/biotech industries. Last year I remember hearing a very interesting article on NPR about how scientists are now using 3D printing technology to actually print human tissue such as veins are ligaments. I did a quick google search and found an article that actually has the audio linked at the bottom. I think everyone should check it out and let me know your thoughts about. http://www.rapidreadytech.com/2012/06/3d-printing-covered-on-npr/
