The Questionmark Perception assessment management system enables educators and trainers to author, schedule, deliver, and report on surveys, quizzes, tests and exams.

The Language Acquisition Resource Center, LARC, is a national Language Resource Center located on the San Diego State University campus. It is one of fifteen Department of Education Title VI funded Language Resource Centers (LRCs). Our mission is to develop and support the teaching and learning of foreign languages in the United States through research, technology, and publications. Particular attention is paid to less commonly taught languages, cross-cultural issues, language skills assessment, and teacher training.

"CantoFish is a popup Cantonese dictionary for Firefox. It contains over 200,000 entries and works with both traditional and simplified Chinese characters. Both the Yale and Jyutping romanization systems are supported, as well as Mandarin pinyin."

"Canal plus" is a television station in France.  "Zapping" [roughly meaning channel surfing] is a show that is a montage of TV clips collected over the week.  It's a great way to get exposure to French and familiarize yourself with certain aspects of French culture.  The website will have "Zapping" from recent weeks as well.

This site hosts oral history vignettes, 30 second to 3 minutes long with accompanying transcriptions. Currently there are 8. A few have simple exercises. We will be adding new anecdotes every week from the 500 oral histories I have collected over the past 15 years from Spanish America and Spain. Some are almost entirely in the present tense, some in past, some mixed. There is a particularly cute one about the term of endearment "gordito." Suggestions, collaboration welcome.

"Xaira is a text searching software originally developed at OUCS for use with the British National Corpus. This new version has been entirely re-written as a general purpose XML search engine, which will operate on any corpus of well-formed XML documents. It is however best used with TEI-conformant documents. Xaira has full Unicode support. This means you can use it to search and display text in any language, provided you have a suitable Unicode font installed on your system. At the heart of Xaira is the Xaira Object Model. This defines a range of objects and methods for representing and searching large amounts of linguistic data. The Xaira Server program implements this model. The Xaira Indexer program creates platform-independent indexes from collections of XML documents for use by the Server. Both these Xaira components can be deployed on any platform. Client programs can access a Xaira server using a close-coupled API such as that used by the Windows client (which is written in C++), or via XMLRPC or SOAP. We provide a fully-featured client for Windows, and a PHP code library which makes it easy to develop applications for the web which can talk to a Xaira server. All versions of Xaira are now distributed free of charge under the GNU General Public Licence."
