Also from the channel "Canal plus", "Les Guignols" uses puppetry for political satire.  This is another great way to get exposure to French speaking and culture.

"Canal plus" is a television station in France.  "Zapping" [roughly meaning channel surfing] is a show that is a montage of TV clips collected over the week.  It's a great way to get exposure to French and familiarize yourself with certain aspects of French culture.  The website will have "Zapping" from recent weeks as well.

Throughout our years of language teaching, we experienced the all-too-common frustration of constantly searching for THE textbook suited to our French language classes and never finding one. What we needed was a textbook teaching beginners or near-beginners how to live in French in the Canadian context. We could not find it, so we wrote it. Teaching how to live in French in the Canadian context means being able to interact with Francophones in a way similar to how Francophones interact among themselves. This implies knowing the rules of communication, being familiar with French-Canadian culture, using real language, and being actively involved in one's learning. À bon port can best be described by these key-words: communication, Canadian, authentic, learner-centered.

Welcome to the Language Technology Boot Camp Site. The first Boot Camp was initiated because the language residents at the Oldenborg Center at Pomona College did not receive any training in the use of technology in foreign language learning and teaching. Many had never encountered the possibilities that a private liberal arts college offers and most had not been familiar with the teaching and learning styles and philosophy prevalent at our institution. Therefore the first Boot Camp was conducted at Pomona College in August 2006. After talks with colleagues at other colleges I found that this was a novelty, as usually only faculty get trained in these matters and that language residents or assistants usually fall through the cracks. But especially these teacher/students are the ones with a lot of enthusiasm, current cultural knowledge, native-speaker abilities, and a more open and relaxed relationship with new technologies and possibilities. As I was planning the 2007 Boot Camp, which underwent several changes, the idea was born that all this work and preparation should be shared, and also that if others contributed to this Boot Camp, the program would be better than if only I prepared everything.

International Mother Language Day was proclaimed by UNESCO's General Conference in November 1999. The International Day has been observed every year since February 2000 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.

It's an experiment in close-reading in which seven women are reading the book and conducting a conversation in the margins. The project went live on Monday 10 November 2008. Why are you doing it? It's part of a long-term effort to encourage and enable a culture of collaborative learning. What do you hope to learn? We don't yet understand how to model a complex conversation in the web's two-dimensional environment and we're hoping this experiment will help us learn some of what we need to do to make this sort of collaboration as successful as possible.

This document is a code of best practices that helps educators using media literacy concepts and techniques to interpret the copyright doctrine of fair use. Fair use is the right to use copyrighted material without permission or payment under some circumstances-especially when the cultural or social benefits of the use are predominant. The Modern Language Association supports a broad, intellectually driven approach to teaching language and culture in higher education. I have seen the future, and it works. Sort of. This particular version of things to come is the future of the book. And the future of reading, too, as we move from consuming books on paper to contributing to them on screens. Maybe. Perhaps. As I suggest below, it might even be a future for 'watching' films. Whatever. In any case, The Golden Notebook Project, which went live at the start of this week, is an entirely engrossing cultural experiment.

The Language Acquisition Resource Center, LARC, is a national Language Resource Center located on the San Diego State University campus.
