MaRS Client, Vive Nano receives prestigious Frost & Sullivan 2010 North American Technology of the Year Award.

CBC writes about highlights of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and the Canadian companies who were there. Specifically highlighted are MaRS client and tenant, XYZ Interactive, who works in gesture-controlled technologies as well as InteraXon, who works with thought-controlled computing.

Can crowdsourcing save the directionally challenged? The Globe features MaRS ICT client, Locationary. Locationary's technology crowd-sources location information and serves it up to other online services, including mobile phone applications based on geo-location.

As stated in Aurp Canada's blog "The Canadian Innovation Exchange (CIX) has partnered with the Government of Canada, through its Canadian Trade Commissioner Service office in San Francisco-Silicon Valley, to announce a prestigious development opportunity for Canadian companies working in Information and Communication Technology and Digital Media." The CIX Top 20 will take place on December 1st, 2011 at the MaRS Centre.

Canada is seriously committed to phasing out all coal-fired electricity generation within five years and to becoming North America's leading green jurisdiction. To help to do this Ontario has passed a Green Energy Act with strong incentives . Tom Rand, who leads an advisory service for companies wishing to develop a stake in clean technology, at the non-profit MaRS headquarters in downtown Toronto, agrees on the importance of this 'right to connect'.

The Globe and Mail features the launch of Canadian-made smartphone application, MyVoice, a MaRS client. MyVoice provides a voice for those who have difficulty speaking for themselves due to autism, aphasia or other medical conditions. As such, it is both a mobile and social innovation technology.

The How Open Source Can Ensure Success for Technology Start-ups on October 11 and the Basic Nuts and Bolts of Building a Business on October 19 events were both mentioned.

CML HealthCare Inc is planning to automate it's current infrastructure to deliver greater volume and medical laboratory tests. CML is also working to commercialize early-stage technologies in medical diagnostics in partnership with an Ontario government agency known as MaRS Innovation.
