Earlier this week a new partnership between ClevrU, NewMindsets Inc., the York University Schulich School of Business, and MaRS Innovation was announced to help "bring a new standard to the online education market space."

Education is one field that is seeing a meteoric growth in the past two years.Trevor Koverko, co-founder of Toronto-based eProf was part of the first co-hort of entrepreneurs in the JOLT program at MaRS Discovery District who are traveling to Silicon Valley in October to meet investors to tell their story.

The inaugural THINK Conference will take place on April 16th at the Art Gallery of Ontario. The conference will challenge leaders in Ontario's e-Infrastructure, Higher Education, and the K-12 sectors to focus on interconnectedness and collaboration.This conference will include na Idea-generating sessions will be led by key Ontario thought leaders which includes Dr Ilse Treurnicht, CEO of MaRS Discovery District.

ACE is a national charitable organization that is teaching and igniting young Canadians to create brighter futures for themselves and their communities. Working in partnership with business and higher education, ACE delivers experience-based programming that allows university and college students to move beyond the traditional path of post-secondary education. Seneca College awarded $2.3 million in federal research funding to improve aviation education in Canada.DeckChair Learning Systems, an online learning company, will provide e-learning and assessment technology to Seneca's renowned School of Aviation and Flight Technology research team. The multi-year project will investigate innovative simulation technologies to train and test pilots. Dec 1, 2009

The ORION Leadership Awards will be presented on April 16th, 2012. The award recognizes innovation leadership in Ontario's e‐Infrastructure, Higher Education, and the K‐12 sectors. In addition ORION will be announcing the THINK conference. Ilse Treurnicht, CEO of MaRS Discovery District will be speaking at the THINK conference.

The following six start-ups will comprise JOLT's first summer cohort: Prof (interactive social education platform), Vennpage (infographics), ShelfLife (social commerce for fans of collectibles), SlingRide (social network for booking rideshare trips), Greengage Mobile (social platform encouraging eco-sustainable practices in the workplace) and tout.it  (social media platform for sports fans).

MaRS launches a new space for technology entrepreneurs in Toronto, offering co-working space, mentorship and networking, access to capital, market intelligence and education programs.

According to Richard Blackwell, reporter of the Globe and Mail, "Canada ranks among the top 10 countries worldwide when it comes to spawning clean technology companies." MaRS is one of the educational institutions for cleantech.

Innovators for the public.

Ashoka "strives to shape a global, entrepreneurial, competitive citizen sector: one that allows social entrepreneurs to thrive and enables the world's citizens to think and act as changemakers." Ashoka supports social entrepreneurship, promotes group entrepreneurship, and builds infrastructure for the sector. Fields of work include environment, health, human rights, economic development, education, and civil engagement.

The Ivey Centre for Health Innovation and Leadership was launched in 2009. The goal of this initiative is to bring students together together with experts from the science and business sectors, with the ultimate goal of better identifying and commercializing health technologies.Dr. Kellie Leitch, a Hospital for Sick Children orthopedic surgeon, is the first executive director of the centre, which is based at Western.
