Barbara Bray and Kathleen McClaskey of Rethinkinglearning have, with the input of those who took their Personalized Learning eCourse, revised the chart for the Stages of Personalized Learning Environments. The personal communications technology era that followed the era of personal productivity amplified accessibility and responsiveness. Personal technologies have served us well as prosthetics for the mind, in service of thinking and doing. Interesting study using Facebook volunteers. The authors analyzed 700 million words, phrases and topic instances from Facebook messages of 75,000 volunteers who took standard personality tests, and found striking variations in language with personality, gender, age. Used an open-vocabulary technique where the data itself drives the exploration of language that found connections not captured with traditional methods. To date, this is the largest study, by order of magnitude, of language and personality.

4 minute interview with Harold Jarche by Nigel Paine, May 2014, on what personal knowledge mastery really is--the adoption of disciplines, changes in behavior, interacting with others, be transparent about insights with others in public. "We have used each other's ideas, we can not only learn for ourselves but learn with each other." Great example of short, effective single topic podcast on audio boo. Effimova, Pollard, and Jarche use personal knowledge management terminology--Jarche changed it to mastery--practice, outlook, way of improving ourselves. If you are working in any kind of knowledge work, this is a component for everyone to use.
