The report authors, including neuroscientists, cognitive psychologists and education specialists, agree that if applied properly, the impacts of neuroscience could be highly beneficial in schools and beyond. The report argues that our growing understanding of how we learn should play a much greater role in education policy and should also feature in teacher training.

Punya Mishra is a professor of educational technology and director of the Master of Arts in Educational Technology program. He is nationally and internationally recognized for his work on the theoretical, cognitive and social aspects related to the design and use of computer-based learning environments. He has worked extensively in the area of technology integration in teacher education which led to the development (in collaboration with M. J. Koehler) of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, which has been described as "the most significant advancement in the area of technology integration in the past 25 years." He has received over $4 million in grants, published over 45 articles and book chapters and edited two books. Dr. Mishra is an award-winning instructor who teaches courses at both the masters and doctoral levels in the areas of educational technology, design and creativity. He is a gifted, creative and engaging public speaker, having made multiple keynote and invited presentations for associations and conferences nationally and internationally.
My dream is to work with him and Ann Thompson and also taking TPACK badge.:)

Allan Collins is a retired professor of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University and best known in psychology for his work on semantic memory and plausible reasoning, in artificial intelligence for his work on reasoning and intelligent tutoring systems, and in education for his work on situated learning, inquiry teaching, epistemic forms and games, design research, and cognitive apprenticeship. His famous work with the co-author Richard Halverson is "Rethinking Education in the Age of Technology: The Digital Revolution and Schooling in America" that was published in 2009. I have put the link to download the article presenting a summary of the contents of the book written by Collins and Halverson.

This discussion paper examines co-regulation of learning in CSCL environments extending research on self-regulated learning in computerbased environments. The discussion employs a socio-cognitive perspective focusing on social and collective views of learning to examine how students co-regulate and collaborate in computer-supported inquiry. Future research directions include examining the theoretical nature of collective regulation and social metacognition in building models of co-regulated learning.

Dr. Roy Pea has been exploring how information technologies can support and advance learning and teaching, with particular focus on topics in science, mathematics, and technology education. He has published widely on such topics as distributed cognition, learning and education fostered by advanced technologies including scientific visualization, on-line communities, digital video collaboratories, and wireless handheld computers . Schank is one of the leading pioneers in artificial intelligence, cognitive science and learning theory. One of his quotes has gripped my attention when I had a look at his page. He states "Education must remain a process where an individual learns to discover oneself and, in doing so, endeavour to improve the human condition. For our future, it is important that we teach our children that reading and learning can be enjoyable and intrinsically rewarding." He emphasizes how important learning by doing is, and believes that we should put conventional teaching methods aside because these make school horrible. In order to make it less horrible, softwares,let's say, technology should be involved in existing educational system, which is already broken.

Thanks for the video hocam:-) The story in the article was great and now we have the video of it. I think it accurately depicts the situation. While I was reading the story, it reminded me of the Rorschach test. Everyone sees a different thing when looking at the ink because we belong to different worlds and we go through different psychological and cognitive processes. This is like reading the same book but visualizing people in a different way.

Thank you Halil, it's a very good example. And Canan mentioned a good point but I have a question: If we use these kind of systems, do we need empty tools for teachers which they can fill for their own instructional purposes or do we need a complete environment which teachers will just use?
