Science Teaching is exemplified with TPACK and different classroom applications can be found. Interrelation of science and technology is underlined.

Now i did recognize that we used the same website:) i like the way they present. Content, definitions and reasons of subject and its teaching, are explained and related with Tpack clearly. More, web page is so colorful that you dont even get bored :p

An application of the cognitive tutoring system.

I checked this software and it is really interactive and feedbacks are meaningfull. I also like the idea of Skillometer where students can follow their process and realize where they stand in spesific content.

This is a research conducted on the possible replacement of teachers by intelligent tutors. Some interesting results are; rather than replacing the teacher, the tutor provided an additional resource for students and using the tutors allowed teachers to provide more individualized help.

Lee S. Shulman is an educational psychologist having notable contributions to the study of teaching, assessment of teaching, learning, science and mathematics. He is a retired professor from Stanford Graduate School of Education, past president of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, past president of the American Educational Research Association. Shulman is best known for popularizing the phrase "pedagogical content knowledge" (PCK). Shulman claimed that the emphases on teachers' subject knowledge and pedagogy were being treated as mutually exclusive. He thought that teacher education programs should combine these knowledge fields.

This is the first chapter of the book "The Cambridge Handbook of the Learning Sciences" by R. Keith Sawyer. It integrates the foundations of the learning sciences, educational technology, learning processes and the emergence of the field of learning sciences along with the rationale behind this field. I think as an introduction, this chapter will be beneficial to look at before going towards the endpoints.

I would like to present and give information on Jack Mezirow who is known as the founder of the concept of transformative learning. According to his ideas, individuals transform their frames of reference through critical reflection on the assumptions upon which their interpretations, beliefs, and habits of mind or points of view are based. Personal frames of references in the learning process is underlined. He is now Emeritus Professor of Adult and Continuing Education at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Punya Mishra is a professor of educational technology and director of the Master of Arts in Educational Technology program. He is nationally and internationally recognized for his work on the theoretical, cognitive and social aspects related to the design and use of computer-based learning environments. He has worked extensively in the area of technology integration in teacher education which led to the development (in collaboration with M. J. Koehler) of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, which has been described as "the most significant advancement in the area of technology integration in the past 25 years." He has received over $4 million in grants, published over 45 articles and book chapters and edited two books. Dr. Mishra is an award-winning instructor who teaches courses at both the masters and doctoral levels in the areas of educational technology, design and creativity. He is a gifted, creative and engaging public speaker, having made multiple keynote and invited presentations for associations and conferences nationally and internationally.
My dream is to work with him and Ann Thompson and also taking TPACK badge.:)

Allan Collins is a retired professor of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University and best known in psychology for his work on semantic memory and plausible reasoning, in artificial intelligence for his work on reasoning and intelligent tutoring systems, and in education for his work on situated learning, inquiry teaching, epistemic forms and games, design research, and cognitive apprenticeship. His famous work with the co-author Richard Halverson is "Rethinking Education in the Age of Technology: The Digital Revolution and Schooling in America" that was published in 2009. I have put the link to download the article presenting a summary of the contents of the book written by Collins and Halverson.

"OECD's PISA: A Tale of Flaws and Hubris"

Research finding on Flipped Classrooms. Connected to some of the reading reflections this week on technology.

This classes can have no effect on students learning, in a short term. For me, a study should measure the long term effect of the flipped classroom. This point can be missed. there is need for not only summative but also confirmative evaluation.

As a language teacher, I've felt really interested in such a change in the instructional process. I always need more time for activities and hands-on experiences; however, I fail to have. I think if the initial preparations are well-organized and students are provided with effective support, flipped classrooms idea may work better than the traditional classes. Therefore, I disagree with the researchers who have found no significant difference in learning. One research may not set a good example for a generalization.

It is about the development of intelligent tutors through military implementations.

Pınar, I think Carnegie Learning "Success Stories" page does not provide the information whether the research group uses the tutoring system as additional or supportive on top of the control group's traditional lesson content. So if the research group only used the tutoring system then it is a significant result.

I think it was a supportive program because in the report it was stated that the Cognitive Tutor Algebra I curriculum consisted of classroom instruction, software sessions, and text. However, the information provided in the report is not sufficient to make an evaluation of the program, other variables might have influenced the results.

I am really effected by the construct neuroplasticity as I read. I had read it as neuro-elasticity before but now I believe they are different terminologies or I am not sure:) So this article is about new emerging themes on neuroplasticity and its relation with education and culture. The figure showing the variables influencing brain plasticity is really good I think.

Canan, I was questioning the role of culture in neurosceience when I saw the article you shared, many thanks:) In the figure presenting the variables affecting the brain plasticity, education and culture intersects. For me, culture shapes education in a society (both formal and informal education). It determines people's identity, behaviors, attitudes and thinking patterns. So, it is for sure that it has an influence on brain plasticity.

Yes I agree with you culture is in relation with lots of different elements that can be important for brain development or plasticity, the fact that cognitive structure Of the brain changes with culture seems important to keep in mind.
