Learning Ally and the Virginia Accessible Instructional Materials Center (AIM-VA) have created a partnership to provide eligible K-12 IEP students with print disabilities Learning Ally memberships to help them succeed in school and beyond. Educators of enrolled students have access to Teacher Ally, Learning Ally's student management and book tracking portal.

"The National Center and State Collaborative (NCSC) is a project led by five centers and 24 states, building an alternate assessment based on alternate achievement standards (AA-AAS) for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. The shared goal of the NCSC partners is to ensure that students with the most significant cognitive disabilities achieve increasingly higher academic outcomes and leave high school ready for post-secondary options. The wiki and the materials hosted here help educators accomplish the NCSC goals by supporting instruction aligned to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). The materials on the wiki can also be used in states that are not using the CCSS. Much of the content that is covered on the wiki will also appear in other Mathematics and English Language Arts state standards. "

TeacherDirect is designed to establish a direct line of communication with classroom teachers and educators. The goal of TeacherDirect is to provide a way to share new instructional resources created by VDOE staff as well as make teachers aware of professional development and grant opportunities, and other information of special interest to teachers and their students.

Universal Design for Learning has also been in the news lately as a new report Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Initiatives on the Move was released by the National Center on UDL, May, 2012. This post describes the principles of Universal Design for Learning and how they naturally occur when a full cycle of learning, including ideas related to the flipped classroom, are used within the instructional process.
